Just picked one up for my upcoming birthday @ ToysXL in Almere (NL) for EUR 169.99. It was the last (or only) one.

If you don't feel #42009 has enough pieces or power functions, check out Jurgens' modified version. 344 extra parts, including 7 motors and 4 IR receivers/remotes.

having just seen this version, it makes 42009 look "old" & "dated" already :/

IMO this is what technc should look like in years to come :)

For those who haven't seen #42009 and #8421 together here they are along with the crane from #60026.

The image appears right side up for me when you click on it, but yea, upside down in the preview.

The new Mk II crane appears to be, by far, the best Technic has ever done.

I can't help but imagine a wrecking ball attached, splintering Orthanc and the Family House. Is that wrong? But thanks for the pic @AFFOL_Shellz_Bellz. I'm sure your displays will all get along without incident. ;-)

@ecmo47 Betcha can't do that kind of magic! Truthfully, have no idea why it did that.

We like cranes, this was taken before the MK II came out, but they aren't all in the picture.

Really? Technic sets with only 10% Technic parts? :-) No thanks.

^Actually, I would really like a model like the above. For me, placing bricks together is somehow more enjoyable than placing pins in holes (much easier to disassemble as well). That's one reason I haven't bothered to build the Unimog- so many pins that would take forever to assemble. I've had one sitting unopened for well over a year. A model with a mostly brick exterior but with the internal functionality of Technic would be the ideal combination of aesthetics, functionality, and building enjoyment (at least for me).

If that's what you like why don't you buy System? Technic is for those who enjoy a (mostly) studless build, and System for those who like bricks, don't try to combine them ;-)

That was sort of the objective of my post- the notion that combining Technic and bricks would be neat.

I buy everything that I like- System, Technic, even Mega Bloks! In general, I enjoy everything I buy, including Technic. It's just that Technic gets a bit tedious with the high piece-count models (at least for me), and a brick exoskeleton would be neat. It's just my opinion, of course, and not everyone has to share the same opinion :)

@Chompers - Thank you, he has both #8053 and #8258, they are just on the opposite wall. I need to update our pictures.
