LEGO Connect

harrelmusicharrelmusic Member Posts: 65
We're all prone to root for our favorite company, but I have to admit, LEGO has really taken the catologue into the future with the LEGO Connect app. The coolest ones are set up like the Digital Box, except you can move your phone lower "into the scene" to get a closer look. Very cool. These will only continue to improve, but I think LEGO has raised the bar in catalogue sales -- it's all about the customer experience. ;-)

Have other companies done something similar? What do you think of it?

I haven't seen the app you are talking about yet. Is it available to the public?

I got it on iPhone through the App Store. Pointed there through the catalogue. Is it possibly only US? Some of the sets look just like the digital box and some link to the Lego.com description and some - or at least Horizon Express - open up the Designer video (which we've probably all seen but will of course watch again)

Nothing in the UK App Store that matches that description...

This app is awesome and is moving in the direction of something my twin brother has wanted to see for a whil, which is something that is like the digital box in that you can scan boxes, but like LEGO Connect in that it can be done with your phone in any store at any time. Imagine how much more exciting trips to the toy store would be if certain boxes were marked with "LEGO Connect" icons so you know you can scan them to see the set in action before you even make a purchase.

I installed on my galaxy nexus but can't seem to scan anything. What am I supposed to scan? The box, set number, barcode? I have tried all without success.

I installed this app a couple of weeks ago, but haven't found anything to scan. I don't have a catalog yet. I believe you scan something which has the dotted arrows "LEGO Connect" pattern near it. Here are a couple of snaps from the iPhone app. If I had a catalog I'd snap a photo of what the app revealed.

I interpreted those directions as "scan ANY image by placing it in the crosshair icon of the lego connect app. The picture shows the app being used rather than showing the icon. I was hoping for a google glasses like implementation. This is a lot less interesting if in only recognizes certain items from the catalog.

It appears you just scan the page from the catalog. When it matches something an icon will show up over the image on the screen that you click. So on the Horizon Express page when scanning the whole page you get a small square that pops up with the video reel icon and when you click on that the video comes up.
