To start building some of the many boxed sets I have. I'd also like to get some much needed sorting done. Those two thing will take me through to 2014 without any problem!

Buy less, and focus only on the train and modular themes. Doubt this will happen, but I'm going to try.
  • BrikingBriking Dorset, UKMember Posts: 742
Stick to Modular. Build some MOCs. Pretend HH is Modular.

And I will NOT build a train station or introduce trains. I think...

Maybe to make more MOCs. I make MOCs already, but I want to make more MOCs than I normally do.

I want to be active in the MOC community. The only time I ever MOC is for contests or just random stuff I build from PAB parts.
  • dino_girldino_girl LondonMember Posts: 107
    1. Only buy the themes I'm collecting and stop buying random sets cos they are on sale

    2. Get to Steam this year

^ to be perfectly crystal clear, I can add as many sets to my collection as possible as long as it doesn't cost me any money in Jan or Feb*

    * I reserve the right to break my resolution the second an unmissable deal is posted.

I started a youtube account a while back and only uploaded a couple vids. It's been like a good year before I uploaded anything. So my new years resolution would be to make more stop motion movies and hopefully reviews to upload on youtube.

    And to buy less lego...

To actually build the three MOC modulars I've had in my head for months. And (like many others) to NOT buy sets I don't truly want. Let's see how well I do on that second one.

Complete my purge of sealed boxes ... either open them or sell them except for the very very special ones.

Decide once and for all which themes Im collecting and why, e.g. am I really collecting superheroes and how exactly do I expect to display them. if not, purge.

finish all those half finished mocs.

Continue my 'absolutely not at RRP' approach (went well this year).. i.e. patience patience

Never again buy a ninjago/atlantis/ etc etc (i.e. eight year old boy) theme as they just dont compare to the exclusives.

Get to more afol events. Put more faces to names.

Set up a proper full time display.

Never again buy to resell, its not worth it overall.

    Dont build on sunny days.

one more and these can be my ten commandments to myself .. ok how about.. i shalt not covet my neighbours MoC (and shall be entirely satisfied that buildong them is fun and it doesnt have to be tbe best one in the world).

Spend less. I bought so many of the 10xxx sets this year that I have most of the ones I want. Not many of next year's themes sound interesting except Super Heroes sets (mostly for the minifigs).

And work on my first Modular MOC and working on my winter village. (There just isn't any time around the holidays)

Spend less. Use what already I have to build more MOCs. Sell big sets that are gathering dust on the shelf (Imperial Flagship).

I only have four new years resolutions:
    1. Be less grumpy. Although that doesn't really apply on here :-D
    2. Get involved more in the lego community such as lego shows, brickish related stuff.
    3. Plan out what I want to buy and when. I know when stuff will be released so do I need it the day it has come out.
    4. Finally attend one of the get togethers here

After ready everyone's resolutions, I thought I have my buying under control I don't need to confess my sins of my lego buying.

    1. This year I'm going to slow down on buying
    2. Wait for the specials, stop buying at full price
    3. Stop searching ebay for sets I don't have

I was saying to myself I've nearly got through the first day of the NY without buying any lego and I was starting to feel rather pleased with myself and then I go and put an offer on a lego Town Plan on ebay didn't think they would accept my offer and before I knew it they accepted so at 11pm sent my payment....I didn't even make it through the first day after all.

I'm hoping to hear if I've won a Cafe Corner 6pm tonight, I promise if I win this I'm going to stop....

Repeat 1,2,3 cause clearly this isn't working very well

Since my son moved out, I'm in the process in transforming the room to a dedicated Lego room. I realize now that I need to sell or trade my extras. I have too much of the same, and think it's time to depart with a few things. I've never sold, but traded once to a fellow member. My resolution to to trade with other members.

To make sure my 15 month old son loves Lego as much as me. Already got him plenty of duplo sets and although a bit little, he does like throwing the bricks and smashing towers.

Got my wifes cousin a cool lego boat and trailer and we spent a happy hour building them, well I did, he said "lego is stupid, why don't they come already built."

I tried to explain we were having fun building it and then we'd smash it and build it again but he wasn't convinced.

My son will learn to love building Lego

My first LEGO resolution for this year is to organize my parts collection. I basically have three groups of parts, and need to determine how or whether to combine them: new, childhood, and a huge bag of mid-70s LEGO given to my father by a friend in Switzerland. The old parts are in varying states of cleanliness. None are covered with dirt, but many are scuffed and otherwise worn, so it feels wrong to mix them with shiny new bricks.

My second LEGO resolution is to make at least one castle-themed MOC.

My third LEGO resolution is to give my son a couple of his own sets for his third birthday. For that, I've been holding back a 5761 to go along with a 31005 when it becomes available.

To make sure my 15 month old son loves Lego as much as me. Already got him plenty of duplo sets and although a bit little, he does like throwing the bricks and smashing towers.

My son is 27 months. Building towers and knocking them down is still his favorite thing to do with Duplo. He does occasionally sit on my lap and "help" build my sets. Mostly, he rearranges my sorted parts but occasionally adds a piece or two in the correct place, as directed. He loves playing with minifigures and really enjoys the play features of some sets (Whitecap Bay collapsing tower, Weathertop trap door, Moria falling pillars, etc.).

I wanted to stick to the themes I had set as a rule when I came out of my dark ages. Less than 10 days into 2013 and I became the owner of 2 Chima sets and 2 Super Hero sets. Sigh.

Well, I've already "broken" this resolution. It's nine months until his birthday (or is that two weeks after making my resolution?) and I've given him 4434 Dump Truck and 60018 Cement Mixer.

Mine would be to stop building such ridiculously huge MOC's as they're costing me way too much money... Damn you BrickLink for starting my MOC addiction! :-P

I'll promise myself that the only one I'll do is a small(ish) Tatooine scene for displaying on my bookshelf. Using #9516, #75005 and some large plates that is.
