Stopped back at my Walmart today and found the Ultrasonic Raider for $54, the space buggy for $2, the fire atv pack for $2.50, and a TON (50 or so) Ninjago first generation spinners for $3.50 (bought Garmadon, Wu, and three skeletons). Oh, and an alien conquest vehicle (buggy) for $5.

My wife checked 3 different Walmarts and only one hand any on sale. She cleared that one out, but there wasn't a lot to begin with.

Kmart had some LOTR sets on sale. I think they were around 20-30%.

I've been stopping over the past couple days, including this morning, and still find a few things here and there. Most of what I do find are returns. I bought a Dino HQ, SW V-Wing, Mandalorian and Clone Battle Packs, MTTs, Landspeeder, City Recycling Truck and Fire ATV. Some Wal-Marts are extremely messy and just dump their reshop into endcaps. You may find some treasures there. I noticed that the Friends Designer Studio was $7 (only 30% off) and passed on it. I saw quite a few SW Advents. I won't bite at $25.

Did one more pass. Never seen Creator houses at my WM, so they must have been returns. Seaside - $25; Apple Tree - $35. Very happy about those as I use these for parts.

Still no Recycling Truck. That was #1 on my list and I haven't seen it anywhere over the last 4 days. Sigh.

I had a legit reason for going to my Walmart this morning....so why not take another pass....I ended up picking up acouple more Dino T-rex sets...they still have about 6 more of the T-rex and Triceratops sets....and the last Republic frigate and I found a Police Dog Van set for $17...never saw it before at that store
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
Went back to the WM I left 5 Mines of Moria at and all of them were gone already. Picked up the last Weathertop, City Fire Plane and an X-wing all for $40 a piece. Still need Mines of Moria to complete my LOTR collection, would have been nice to snag one at a decent price. :(
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
I'd love to find Creator houses at 50% off. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  • zjygkmattzjygkmatt Member Posts: 75
Found a Walmart with some LOTR sets on clearance, and I grabbed 2 each of the remaining Monster Fighter Mummy - $7.00 and Swamp Creature - $5.00 Only also grabbed a Gandalf Arrives for $9.00 too.

Not the craziest steal in my mind, but I passed on anything else since my bank account is hurting due to sales.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
My WM has a bunch of the log cabins and beach houses but they arent marked down. The only Hobbit set I picked up was Helms Deep...Hard to pass up at $89 but out of the dozen I have saw I onlt picked up one....I have three WM's really close...East bank of New Orleans...I have been to each one three times and each time the only things gone are the things i'm buying...now the Westbank is different...I hit the three WM's over there and all three are wiped out ....so it looks like I'm the only buyer on this side
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Saw the Gungdun Sub (sp?) for 33% off. Thought that was odd.
  • kim43235kim43235 Member Posts: 165
I visited WM near Hilliard OH and picked up batcave at $50 and MF train for $55. Mark downs are not significant but grabbed while I can and think about later.
I met another lego reseller there. He was a brickset user but a bricklink user. He picked up only batcave sets.

Went to another 2 WM today, both did not have any Star Wars clearance. At one WM, I saw 7965 Falcon for $79 but someone must have bought it. : (

I am really surprised at how many people I see on here from Ohio. I moved to New Orleans from Cleveland about 5 years ago....I never see anyone from NOLA on here....good for my hobby....bad for my wallet

Picked up a #5886 T-Rex Hunter at Walmart for $34.50, got home and realized that I really had no use for any of it (though the Dinosaur is awesome), then promptly went out and returned it on the way to the grocery store.

(I know. I feel like my LEGO card should be revoked. I could've sold it for a profit later, but I'm just not into the reselling thing. It'd just complicate my life even more.)

No worries. There's been one sitting at my Target for days now staring at me. Everything around it is disappearing, but it and 2 marked down Epic Dragon Battles remain. I had all in my cart twice now, but never made the purchase. I don't resell either and about the last thing I need is another "hobby." (Not meant as a stab to those that do resell, just not something I can dedicate the time to.) That and all I really wanted from it was the T-Rex, but then I thought "For what? My list of MOCs to build is already big enough!"
  • Visiting family in a different state tonight and visited the local walmart. I had picked up about 5 sets (Dino Trapper & Hunter, Recycle Truck) in my hometown walmarts. Tonight I hit a JACKPOT!
But some of the ones mentioned earlier as discounted, were not discounted. Are there any Superheros, Monsters, or LoTR ringing up 50% off for anyone? Mines of Moria was not and I checked several others but it seemed like nothing in these groups are discounted.
Here is what I got (some for my kids, some for gifts and some to hold for future resell)

Dino Pteranodon Tower #5883 $9.50 (had more, only got 1)
Dino Raptor Chase #5884 $14.50 (had more, got 2)
They had T-tops Trapper and T-Rex Hunter but I already got those from other walmarts. Should I have gotten more for resell?
City Mining Truck #4202 $17 (had several more, got 1)
City Police Dog Van #4441 $17 (got 2)
    City Ambulance #4431 $9.50 (got 2)
    City Car & Caravan #4435 $9.50 (got 3)
    City Space Center #3368 $34.50
City Satellite Launch Pad #3366 $9.50
    City Harbor #4645: $44.50
Star Wars Sith Nightspeeder #7957 $12 (got 2, gifts???)
Star Wars Ewok Attack #7956 $12 (got 2, had TONS)
Ninjago Pangpyre Truck Ambush #9445 $24.50 (got 2)
    Ninjago Pangpyre Mech #9455 $12
Ninjago Jay's Storm Fighter #9442 $12 (box damaged)

    Star Wars:
My kids have lost interest in this group so I left a lot behind. Should I go back and pickup any of this for future resell? Here is what I left behind assuming these are 50% discounted: Geonosian Cannon, Republic Frigate, Geonosian Starfighter,

  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
Hit up 3 WM's in Washington state. Absolutely nothing. The aisle were bare. The only sets I found with the red clearance stickers on them were Minotaurus, Ultrabuild Joker, and City & SW Advent calendars.

Btw, every grocery store was sold out of the Oreos. :(

You should definitely pick up all the Republic Frigates if they are 50% off.

I found a WM with Batman/Catwoman cycle chase for $9. They had a TON of them. So I passed, waiting for a higher discount. I would love to find any of the MF line at 50% off.

Anyone have a timeline for when that might happen? I'm guessing January 1, but I suspect this is a YMM REALLY V change.

    Visited 2 Walmarts

Walmart 1: Found various Hobbit, Weathertop and Geonosis. All full price.

Walmart 2: Found Gungan Sub, LotR Wall Section, Creature from Black Lagoon, Sarlaac Skiff, Mandalore Fighter, Garbage Truck, Hobbit sets, X-Wing and Spingebob Flying Dutchman all at Full Price. Found Shelob at $13, Captain America Battlepack at $9 and Flatbed Truck at $9.50.

Visited 4 of 7 close Walmarts, found one Mines of Moria @ $54.00, saw a few Monster Fighters at 30% off but no vamp. castle :(. One Walmart did have a tipper truck clearance tag but no trucks.

Honestly the Targets and Walmarts within a 20 mile range of me were whipped out a week before Christmas. Target had an empty box of seires 8 @ 50% off but I doubt the ten or 15 at the store had made it past Christmas day to this discount. Retailers indeed did a much better job of inventory control this year than last.

Glad I Found Mines though, I was holding out for it at a discount. In hindsight the Amazon sale price for 63.00 was just as good in October without the driving and gas money lol.

Anyone want to trade a discounted vamp castle for a Mill Village Raid and series 7 red riding poly? PM if interested. I also many other trading options available.

    Good luck in your hunts!

@Yellowcastle Which Flatbed Truck were you referring to? The brand new one for 2013 #60017 or did you mean the tipper truck #4434 ? It's funny how they are all orange...

Certainly not this one: #8109 Weird how one is the Technic version of the other with same name...
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
    ^ The latter.

50% off at Walmart today was lego city 3661 bank and money transfer. Marked down to 24.98$

    Pittsfield, MA

Hey guys what's the story on this unmarked sale? Do they usually do it this way at the end of the year to clear out old sets?
  • BrixyBrixy Member Posts: 57
thanks for all the info. at my walmart there too was the unmarked sale. I was able to get things I wanted pod racers, ewok, land speeder, frigate and Sith night speeder. also a couple of strange ninjago pens for nephews only to be told they are told for them. I blame the frenzy of the sale for that. all of them were half off. none of the monster fighters, superheroes, or lord of the rings were on sale. which is probably good for my wallet. thanks again if it wasn't for the forum I would have thought nothing was marked down!

    That's actually a Target exclusive...

  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
True, that is a Target exclusive but this doesn't stop employees from accepting these items for returns either on accident, nonchalance or not wanting to deal with an irate customer. I've seen Mater die cast cars that are Walmart exclusives at TRU and Target (they even have an "Only at Walmart" sticker on the packaging)!

Found some Quinjet Aerial Battle, #6869 on clearance at my WM. About the only LEGOS on clearance. Heck, about the only LEGOS they had. Pretty much out of LEGOS.

Question - what is a good price to get them for? They RRP for $70. I think they were $55. I didn't buy any. Didn't seem like a good price to me.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I passed on anything that wasnt 50% off...well except for Helms Deep...I just wanted one
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502

    @cloaked7
Honsetly, I think $55 is not a good price to buy them at for resale. They have been extremely widely available at that price, and it is an overpriced set to begin with.

^ and its not even EOL
  • pumperxpumperx Member Posts: 106
Get a few big sets for 30% off on another local WM. Pass quinjet for $49. There are about 8 of those. Quite a few ghost train too, I only pick up two.

    9468 vampyre castle $69
    9467 ghost train $55
    9515 Malevolence $79
    9473 Mines of Moria $54
  • CrownieCrownie Member Posts: 228
^ Those are some pretty good deals. I would've sprung for a Vampyre Castle at that price no question. Ditto on Moria.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I am very lucky that the three closest WM's to me dont sell very many legos. The shelves are still full other then what I have bought. I plan on hitting all three New Years day just to see if any prices change...hopefully they do
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
$70 for the Castle....I would have bought everyone...I have seen a ton of them but none on sale...even at 30%....I have yet to see the Malevolence or Ghost Train on sale either....but my WM's has a ton of all three

I actually only went out once on the 26th to do a loop of the local Walmarts. Gotta love the 22R engine. I guess your $11 Ice Dragon helps even out the score for you.

@pumperx Where you at? I've never seen the castle on sale.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
One WM had a ton of S6 CMF but unfortunately they were full price.
  • pumperxpumperx Member Posts: 106
I am in Texas. I was taking kids to see the Christmas light show and stop by random WM on the way there. There are still 4 or 5 on the shelf when i left.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I did find the castle on sale for $69. There were about 3-4 of them. I passed. I considered getting one extra for parts, but decided not to. Surprisingly, I had a better deal on it this summer at Barnes, at almost 50% off. The set was being clearance out and I had a coupon. I also passed on Helm's Deep at 30%, an extra Dino Hunter at 50%, and Ninjago Samurai Mech at regular price. Not surprisingly, the items I passed on are now gone.

I did end Up with Bat Cave, Mines of Moria, Ghost train and advent calendars for next year. I tried to go more minimal this year, and only go with what we wanted. I probably should have clicked up one extra Castle, though.
