Ended up passing on the 4x4 fire truck. Got the ambulance and raptor chase for 50% off an weathertop for 33% off. Not bad.

Sheridan, WY: I got a Destinys Bounty, Luke's land speeder, Ewok, Nightspeeder, City Advent Calendar, Mining Truck, Fangpire Ambush for 50% off and a Republic Frigate 59% off. None of these were marked, except for the Advent Calendar. Some more City was half off, but passed. Wished the Ninjago Mech was half off. My brother said I looked like a dad who had forgotten to get the kids anything, and was trying to compensate for it.

Walmart in NW Chicago suburbs had LOTR and Hobbit at full price, and a grand total of 2 star wars and Ninjago boxes left, 3 total monster fighters left. Ghost train 30% off, 1 left, the 1 remaing Ewok attack 50% off. (That actually marks the first time I've ever seen a 50% off set in my area!). Rest of aisle was completely empty. I am beginning to give up on B&M deals in my area.

Some interesting stock in Cleveland. A Wal-Mart on the east side has Jabba's Palace for $79. Target had T-Rex Hunter for $49.99 and Dino HQ for $49.99 as well as the Cars Oil Rig for $24.99.

My only pickups of the day were at Target - a Monster Hunters Mummy for $5.50 and a Gandalf Arrives for $9.00

I think there are employees in the burbs of Chicago that buy these items, I also know there are AFOLs that are watching Walmarts in my area as well.. which means if you guess that the wrong Walmart has Clearance stuff you will most likely miss any deals at other Walmarts... kind of disheartening but then again it saves my credit card and gas in my vehicle knowing not to bother...

The funny thing about the discussion of brands/stores better managing inventory is how much sale merchandise accounts for total revenue/profit for retailers. EG: the ONLY aisles that had people in them at Target & Wal-Mart today were the 50% of holiday aisles. So: without selling stuff at a discount, how much revenue would a store likely lose? EG: doesn't discounting work out in the retailers favor, or does it train customers to not buy full-priced merchandise?

Okay, now my brain hurts thinking about all of this.

The bottom line for me: it is VERY hard to justify getting in the car and driving out to additional Targets or Wal-Marts, knowing I will likely find little on sale, and even then, just a set or two.

Well I took a shot and hit a Walmart alittle further out from me. It was stocked really well....They had one Dino HQ for $49...all the other Dino sets were 50% so i bought acouple more of each....The Ewok attack was $12...the Recycling Truck was $14 and all of the Star wars Army builders...clone troopers and Mandalorians were $6....I couldnt find any Poly's or minifig bags.... Needles to say I got a really good haul

So I ended up hitting Three different Walmarts today...none were super busy and two of the three were nicely stocked....Nothing was tagged on sale and I scanned everything in the isle to find the sales...each time I was in check-out the people behind me asked if lego was on sale. I told them yes but they would have to scan for the prices..so get the deals while you can because nobody knows

I picked up The Ghost Train for $54 at the WM in Germantown, MD. Not a great deal, but a set my DD was wanting. Only thing I saw marked down. I didn't scan everything, but there wasnt much In the Lego aisle to begin with.

My predictions were pretty close. We found all these at 50% off:
    Dino HQ
    Trex Hunter
    Triceratop Attack
    Raptor Chase
    Mining Truck
    Recycling Truck
    Ambulance
    Cole's Tread Assault
    Jay's Storm Fighter
    Hero Factory Bulk
    Ninjago Booster Pack
    Ewok Attack
    Star Wars Polybags
Darth Maul Watch (since we can't find Infiltrator)
Saw newer stuff for 30% off but I don't bite at that price. A lot of inconsistency among stores and many were wiped out as is being reported. It took visiting 5 stores to find the above deals. We may venture out in a bit to see if we can't find the 2 smaller Dino sets. My son has been wanting these for a while. Good stuff out there if you've got time to drive around. Good luck folks!

I hit three Walmarts this morning. I got some recycling trucks for $14.50, a Republic Frigate for $49.50, and 4 Sith Infiltrators for $27 each. Oh, and a Ewok attack and two land speeders for $12 each.

Probably a Walmart - it sounds like the clearances are different at every store.

If you have a ShopKo nearby, they were $41 before xmas. Proably even less now if you can find one in stock.

  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
Of the three Walmarts I checked this morning none had the Frigate or Infiltrators on sale.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
All I really wanted was the Recycling Truck and I couldn't find it anywhere.

Two Walmarts I went too had #4206 50% off which came out too $14.50. That was the best deal I found. The third Walmart I went to had nothing at all on sale.

Yes, of course! Visiting Seattle on Saturday, hopefully there aren't many LEGO fans in the area. ;-)

Unfortunately I believe the Pacific Northwest has a pretty good AFOL population. Or at least several that jump on the Fred Meyer deals.

Yea, the Fred Meyer deals are superb. I love picking up my CMF's from them.

7 walmarts, 5 targets, and $4500 later I am calling it a day
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I hit two targets and both were empty...nothing on sale or on the shelves

I went to a few Walmarts this morning, slim pickings...

Compared to last year, this was downright sad. :(

Did find a large number of polybags, all were $1.50 each, so I went ahead and grabbed them all, but eh, not really worth the time.

Almost nothing on sale, and what was, there was 1 or 2 of each set.

Then went over to the LEGO store, bleah, even more useless. :)

Oh well, Merry Christmas everyone! :)

    Happy with my findings:
    T-rex hunter $34.50
    Sith nightspeeder $12
    Ewok Attack $12
    Battle of Naboo $12
    Luke's Landspeeder $12
    Republic Frigate $49

Today at Walmart in Southwest New Mexico Ninjago 9446 & 9455 were 1/2 price. The Ninjago Booster pack 9557 was marked down to $2. Star Wars 7956, 7957 and many of the smaller sets were 1/2 price and 7965 was $79. A handful of the Super Heroes sets were 30% as were 2 of the Monster Fighter sets 9467 & 9464. A lucky day for me as an AFOL but an unlucky day for my bank account.

Got a few Dino sets. I have good feeling those dinosaurs are going to go for quite a bit.
  • smellywormsmellyworm Member Posts: 34
I found a Dino HQ at full price and picked it up because honestly I think it looks fun as heck to build with my son. That being said I noticed a bunch of you got it for %50 off. Any chance I can go in and try some price match of sorts? Thanks.

Found plenty of stuff. Only picked up three sets for myself - #4206, #5883, and #5886 (really want the T-Rex). The only thing I was really hoping to find at half of that I didn't was #4429 (has anybody found this half off?). My store had dozens, but full price. I would have also taken a Dino HQ had I found one, but I am happy with the T-Rex Chase.

Also stopped by the LEGO Store. Nice to see the rest of the 2013 sets in the flesh, but only grabbed five series 9 figures (and got no repeats!).
  • smellywormsmellyworm Member Posts: 34
I also forgot to mention I found one 4840-1: The Burrow on clearance at my Walmart. Not bad for $40. Box had some shelf wear but honestly its prob been sitting around for some time.

Any see if #4209 is on clearance?

On clearance for $40 (not half off) at two locations.

I went to another Walmart for lunch and got a couple of 2012 City Advent calendars for $19. Also got a bunch of CMF series 7 & 8 for $1 each. Almost not worth the gas money...

On the flip side, I got all sorts of holiday M&Ms for $1.30 a bag. Can't wait to try the cherry flavored one later today ;)

How long are these sales on for? Until the stuff runs out?
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks Member Posts: 1,367

For older stuff, it's usually until it's gone. For the non-50% stuff, sometimes it goes down to that mark. But it usually doesn't make it that far.

Went back to a Walmart and found Mines of Moira and the Ghost Train on a center display for ~$55. They had 8+ copies of each, so I'm kind of hoping they survive to the next markdown (if there is one). At 50%, I probably would have grabbed them all.

Got two #9468 Vampyre Castles for $69 at Walmart in Fishers, IN.

Nice find. I been wanting that. I doubt those are left here in SoCal.

Stopped at my local walmart and all they had were monster fighters, lotr and a couple of the big city sets (police and fire stations). Nothing was priced but after scanning a few sets I determined that most were 20-30% off. There was nothing that interested me and i would need closer to 40-50% off in order to justify buying as an investment.
  • turtle1173turtle1173 Member Posts: 230
    Jabbas palace was $79.
    Lukes landspeeder was $12
    Dino hq wa $49.50
    Quinjet was $49
    Mines of Moira was $54
    Weathertop was $40

One Walmart had everything marked. The other one had nothing marked but scanned this way.

Also at target the helms deep wall expansion was $20. (Can't think of the name)

^I think you are referring to the Uruk-Hai battle pack.

I found some 85 piece Duplo and 650 piece Lego sets left from the BF sale marked at $9.50 each at Walmart today. I thought they would be long gone.

I was hoping to pick up a couple of 8092s, but they were all gone even before the clearance hit. Snagged a box of CMF series 8 at a $1 a figure, easy turnaround, so no complaints!

Do you sell them sealed? Or do you open to make a complete set of 16?

Went to 7 WMs and picked up about 25 SW battle packs, a couple of ambulances and recycling trucks. My best find at one WM....... 8 boxes of .223 ammo.

We ventured out again to 3 more Walmarts in the evening to try to find a Tower Takedown and complete the Dino collection. Didn't find those but did find Sith Infiltrator (so I guess we'll be returning the Darth Maul watch), Dino Ambush Attack, Fangpyre Mech, Fangpyre Truck Ambush, City Polybag, Fire ATV.

Plenty of sets to bribe my kid with every month till next year. I will not rest until I find that Tower Takedown though. Lol
