I would check any bargain stores around for the MF sets, I found quite a few at Big Lots after walmart pulled them in my area, and they were decently discounted
  • ReliantReliant Member Posts: 68
    Big lots? Interesting.

    What other discounters get them?
  • TinKnockerHimesTinKnockerHimes Member Posts: 76
I dont know, but big lots is the only one in my area of youngstown that had them, not sure if big lots is a national brand or not in close-out stores
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
TJ Maxx sometimes ends up with a LEGO set here or there, so they might be worth checking in on as well.

There are still MFs at some of the WMs around my area, not just all of them. In fact, I saw the Vampyre Castle at one yesterday.

There's a Vampyre Castle at one of my local WM stores. However, it looks like a victim of the no-shipping box debacle from last fall. The box is not open, but is missing many parts of the surface layer where it looks like multiple shipping labels were peeled off. Not discounted.

Vampyre Castle is back on Amazon which means that it will probably be around for at least a few more months. If you really want one then AW has a "like new" available for under $90.

I'm totally addicted to walmart clearance. Too bad it is (and should be) totally unpredictable. Post holiday is probably the only time you can expect it. I guess I'll just be randomly walking in walmarts during my travels and scanning lego from now on.

The ones I've been in recently all have been pretty much reset and back to business as usual.

So does anyone know if City Police Stations are all getting the ax now? I never got a crack at them at 50% which would have been a nice value.
  • BrixyBrixy Member Posts: 57
^there is a city police forest station at the Amazon warehouse for 46 if you don' t mind dinged boxes.
  • odshowtimeodshowtime Member Posts: 49
yeah I already bought a dinged box of that set locally for a little bit less than that. thanks.

I got excited today when I found two Republic Frigates on the shelves at an out of the way Walmart...they rung up at $108 each...lol. They also had a Helms Deep...but again...at full price. Only thing I bought was a #3367 Space Shuttle for $14
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502
In regards to Lego at Big Lots, I have not seen any there for quite some time, actually a number of years. I remember seeing Avatar sets at Big Lots way back for very cheap. Hindsight:)
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
I found a Republic Frigate in a dinged box at WM about a month ago. Price rang up as $99.97 but when I asked they were happy to match a clearance price from a WM across town. So I got it for $47.97. It MIGHT be worth going back and asking. I think this set will be a good performer.
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502
I wouldn't call it a good performer. The only thing it has going for it is the Wolfpack Clones, but if you are buying them around $50 you can't lose.
  • lulwutlulwut Member Posts: 417
I was surprised to see a lone T-Rex hunter set go back up to RRP.
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
Well it looks like it's nudging RRP about two months after EOL, that's "good" in my book. YMMV. ;-)
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,538
Not a clearance deal but walmart.com has the WM exclusive #9525 P-Vs Mandalorian Fighter discounted $10 down to $39.97. Not too shabby for anyone looking to pick this one up.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^Not too bad at all considering how much the minifig goes for.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I have a Walmart in my area that I call my "Honey Hole". Its kind of out of the way and its in a kind of bad part of town. It always has a ton of LEGO because I really dont think it sells much in that area. I usually check it every other week...and I have never left empty handed. Today I was surprised to find two sets in the clearance section..... #4644 Marina and #5770 Lighthouse Island for $20 each. The Marina is not that great of a set but i bought enough of them that together I can build a proper marina for my city...lol...I really like the Lighthouse set. ...Kind of feel bad because I bought all 6 of the Lighthouses but I did leave 4 Marinas.

I found prince of Persia sets at Marshall's last year. Quite surprising considering that they've been discontinued for a while. Snagged the bigger prince of Persia set #7572 quest against time for $30. Not bad at all! Snagged the smaller (#7569 desert attack) for about $5
  • ReliantReliant Member Posts: 68
Found 5 galactic enforcers on clearance for 1$ off retail price. They probably have been sitting since 2009. They also had 2 millennium falcons that looked box fresh with a clearance tag that was priced RRP.

That's the thing Walmart has the best and worst clearances!
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
I found one of those today as well! Was surprised at first to see such an old set, but when it rang up at $99.97 I put it back. Odd that they're turning up like that.

I have been stalking the clearance isle at the only Walmart in my small town on a daily basis. In the last week I picked up some good deals including:
    9499 Gungan Ship for $20
    7956 Ewok Attack for $6
    8092 Luke's Landspeeder for $6
7914 Mandalorian Battle Pack for $3
9473 The Mines of Moiria for $35
9472 Attack on Weathertop for $20
    6860 The Batcave for $25
6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle for $25

Thanks for the heads up! Will be checking my local place tomorrow!
  • sandtherapysandtherapy Member Posts: 108
Oh yes, and how can I forget,

    9492 Tie Fighter for $15.
9567 MF Ghost Train for $25

It is very random and indeed sorta like entering the Twilight Zone. A couple of times I've been lucky enough to be standing there as they began shelving the random boxes of clearance Legos.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
I wish I could find a Quinjet Aerial Battle set for $20-25 bucks. If anyone sees one in the Cincinnati/Dayton/Northern Kentucky area, let me know, or perhaps buy it and I can meet you?
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,487
@Goldchains, I'd help you out if I could. My Walmart has shelves stocked full of Quinjets, yet they all are marked at RRP.

I've scanned them every time I go, and yet they always ring up full price. It's quite sad, when I kid you not, 70+ of them are on the shelves, and none are discounted.

You would think they would want the space these things take up.. but alas...

@Goldchains - do you have Meijer stores down there? I found Quinjets on clearance at Meijer for $35.

We do have Meijers. I should go check them out asap and see. I know that the one near me had a bunch of sets on clearance before Christmas, but who knows what might be left or further clearanced?

  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Good luck. NKY and cincy have a ton of Lego resellers. Just look at Craigslist. Will be tough to find much I imagine. The Florence meijer had no clearance that I saw a week ago when I passed through.
  • kim43235kim43235 Member Posts: 165
@sandtherapy Great finds!! I thought WM sale is done but I guess it's still going on some areas. My last great haul was Whitehall WM as someone posted here. I didn't go back to that store.

I do have Meijers in my area (Columbus, OH). I'd grab Quinjets for $35. Best I've seen is $50.
  • jagdjhjagdjh Member Posts: 95
I'm in the Cincinnati area. Don't bother with the Meijer on Colerain Ave. in the Stonecreek shopping center unless you're looking for Star Wars planets (clearanced to $7.49).

The only luck I've had at Meijer lately was at one that was doing a massive remodel, so they had marked basically all 2012 sets down 35-50%. At our local small town Meijer I was also able to get #9466 50% off. It had been on the shelf in the clearance aisle for two weeks at 25% off and on a milk run I checked it out again and it was 50%. But my Meijer is so small that they are very aggressive in clearance and the box for that particular set seems like it was designed just to take up shelf frontage!

I went into a Tuesday Morning today and found set 5883 dino the tower takedown for 14.99, and they also had a bunch of series 7 minifigs for 1.99.

curious. for people who frequently check stores for clearance. is this once everyday or more than that...
i sometimes would hit up a target every 1-2 days looking at the clearance
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
I have an hour commute each day. So I can access a lot of different Wallys and Targets, and one brand store. So I typically hit "the good ones", say the top 2, once a week. The others, once a month, and more when it seems like clearance activity is high.

my store has every lego board game released in the past two years at 50%...nothing else that interesting
  • kim43235kim43235 Member Posts: 165
^ If it includes Creationary and Hogwart games then I would pick them up.

I was out of town for work, an 1 1/2hours away, and stopped by a few WM along the way. 2 of the 3 WM had put out new LEGO for clearance.....well..at least it's clearance in WM eyes. SW Tie Fighters, Monster Fighters Mad Scientist, SeaSide House, Super Heroes Quintet, Hobbit Goblin King, and a few others....but all rang up full price. Part of their Feb 1rst new calendar year mark-downs.

From what I understand, a red sticker with just one price on it is "overstock" and not clearance. If it has the MSRP and a lower price on it, then it has been discounted.

  • PoochyPoochy Member Posts: 479
^ That's what I was told by multiple WM employees as well. Just because it's in the clearance section, doesn't mean it is not MSRP (though it does mean that they don't have the regular shelve space for it anymore). They told me that it usually will eventually go down, just a matter of when/if they get the clearance money in. So keep checking and hope for the best :).

So our Walmart has the Lego 9492 tie fighter on clearance with a tag marked down to... well not marked down.. $49.97. Has anyone ever gone to customer service to try and get them to lower prices on clearance marked merchandise if it is the same as the original price... or are you just stuck? They did the same thing with 6869.

Never-mind just refreshed the thread and saw above lol. Still waiting for the 20 SW advents to go below 50% off, although the minifig stealers appear to be having their way with some of the boxes.

the only deals my walmart has is a drop from $12 to $9 on the Arrival of Gandalf set -______________- I am dissapointed
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
The WM closest to me has been putting one or two items per week in the clearance section. This weeks Item was #7957 The Sith Landspeeder for $12.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
Went to an out of the way Walmart in Amelia, Ohio. They had two Quinjets on clearance at $49. I passed on them...for now...

Its been about a month so I decided to check my "Honey Hole" out today. Last time I was there they had The Lighthouse set and The Marina sets for $20. I left a couple of the Marinas....and guess what...they were still on the shelf. I had a pretty good haul. I picked up three #4644 for $20 each.... one #7868 for $20.... one #4428 for $15.... three #3860 for $7 each.... one #3859 for $7.... and one #3841 for $7. I have never bought any of the games before but for $7 each I figured I could use the pieces. The advent calander was pretty beat up and I told the manager I would take it for $15 if it was complete. We opened it up and everything was there so I kept my work and bought it. So not too bad.

My Walmart had #9467 (Ghost Train) for $40, so I snatched that up for my wife.
They have about 10 #6869 (Quinjet) for $60, so I'll be watching those. The only other thing of interest is #4209 (Fire Plane) for $40 which is kind of tempting I guess :/
I check back every 4 or 5 days because it's 5 minutes away from my campus and on the way home.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I have never seen the Quinjet on sale at any. I have found the Train on sale and picked up one awhile back. Walmart.com has a bundle deal with the Quinjet and Hulk Breakout for $96
