Pilot Luke in Star Wars X Wings

TwoRiderTwoRider Member Posts: 27
I was disappointed that LEGO chose to include Luke in the 6212 & 9493 X Wing sets. At least with 9493 they included Jek Porkin's astromech, but didn't even make that consideration for Wedge in 6212. I would happily buy the two to get more X Wings, but I don't want multiple Pilot Luke minifigs. Wish they'd just left Luke & R2D2 out of both sets and focused them solely on the other named pilots that fought at Yavin.

  • Luke is the hero in the set, can't leave him out.
You could sell the minifigs you don't want and that will reduce the cost of your X-wing :-)

The main problem here is that for every person who REALLY wants Garven Dreis, Wedge Antilles, Biggs Darklighter, John Branon, and Jek Porkins... there are about a hundred kids who don't care about any of those guys and only want Luke. As such, I don't imagine you'll ever see an X-Wing released without Luke, so matching him with a secondary pilot is probably the best option to hope for. And really, most of the pilots that aren't Biggs and Porkins have all had the same head, so they really just need to make a handful of new helmets.

The problem isn't just the X-Wing always including Luke but also the snowspeeder (of which we now have FIVE versions). Seriously, it's overkill when they could have gotten away with Wedge and his gunner in the Snowspeeder since they have the memorable scene involving that vehicle.

^I don't disagree. Wedge and Janson would have been awesome, and they do seem to be slightly more lenient with snowspeeders, as Zev Senesca was the pilot in the Wampa set (though, to be fair, that set also included a non-pilot version of Luke).

The new Hoth set COULD have been a nice means of getting a secondary pilot, as the Viper lent itself to the inclusion of Han, Chewbacca or both as the 'hero' figures for the set, but they opted for Luke for some reason, and still didn't bother to update him with a visor.
