I would have preferred a female android rather than changing the gender of the Series 1 Robot.

The original male robot is from series 6.

I bet they are what Bricklink calls Bright Light Blue. The color from NRG Zane, Sleepyhead CMF, and the Chima eagles.

Yes, possibly. They would be a new colour for hands, wouldn't they?
Yes, it would complete another monochrome fig (if you're not averse to wiping, or are lucky to pick up the plain parts from a seller in Germany who sources them somehow).
Yes, same thing for the dark pink robot hands (if that is what colour they are). They might also look good on the S6 intergalactic girl to match her spacesuit.

    We need a Baseball Catcher

Can't you just stick a helmet (maybe the hockey players) on the baseball fielder? And maybe use some armour too if needed, something like 85961 ?

We've had two baseball players already, I'd prefer a cricketer with a bat. That would be ideal for all those Shaun of the Dead customs ...

Well we already have a guy in his pyjamas, so we're halfway to a Twenty20 fig :-)

No, you can't. A Goalie mask is different than a catchers mask. A catchers glove is different than a normal fielders glove. Obviously, you don't know much about baseball, which is fine. I have no problem with that.

The Yeti might be the first army I make. It looks great. The Welder is really unique and I have no issues with the Robot; my girlfriend loves the Series 6 Clockwork so easier access to similar minifigures is certainly welcome.

No, I don't know much about baseball. I didn't say to use a goalie mask, I said to use the helmet (like the hockey one from S4) on the baseball fielder. Catchers wear masks with grilles don't they? As to the difference in gloves, I doubt lego would make another style baseball glove when they already have one. The one they have is pretty generic as it is.
  • pillpodpillpod Member Posts: 273
The baseball glove is actually closer to a catcher's mitt than it is, say, an outfielder's mitt. I haven't taken a look at the masks though. Maybe minifigsme can make a custom catcher's gear decal for each baseball team.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
The other problem with a third figure would be teams. Do they rehash one of the existing teams torso, or come up with a new one? A new one wouldn't make sense (3 teams) whereas a rehash of an old one would annoy everyone for making an equivalent figure with a helmet instead of a cap.

For what it is worth, the first image that comes up on a google search is this one.

    image

OK, it may not have a back, but I reckon if lego did a baseball catcher, then they would use an existing helmet with grille. Maybe the footballers one is a slightly better colour match than the hockey one.

I still cannot understand why the glove has fingers. Lego men (Hagrid excepted) don't have fingers so a less detailed fingerless one would be more realistic for minifigs. Maybe it just doesn't look right without fingers.
  • pillpodpillpod Member Posts: 273
It would look like a frisbee or a brown dinner plate without fingers.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
^ Yeah, it's funny how extra detail has to be added to make it look real, whereas the hand we accept with a quite unphysical shape.

    Love, love, love the yeti!!
My son is going to love him.
I will be really annoyed if they make him 2 per box.

Ah, thank you to @chuxtoybox for the heads up that we were talking baseball minifigures over here! Just what I wanted to start my morning off.

I've been working on my catcher design for sometime now and I am still not settled on what to go with. Here are just a few thoughts I have. @sidersdd has played a big part in inspiration:
    image

Catcher's Mask: I do not agree with the hockey player or football player's mask for a catcher. I much rather would prefer the following:
    image
    image

Chest Protector: My favorite selection is from Lord Garmadon. I purchased the minifigure off of BrickLink simply for the piece below. The issue I've run into is the torso does not fit into minifigure legs.
    image

Additionally these pieces could also work (Last one would require a tile or two attached:
    image
    image

Shin Guards: So far this piece turned around has yielded the best results for a desired look.
    image

Those are my thoughts on a purist catcher. Again, I cringe at the thoughts of modifying LEGO parts. I am a purist all the way.

Also, I would love another baseball glove for a left handed person. Currently the glove only works for right handed throwers. I would settle for the same mold in a wide array of colors Baseball Glove Colors. Preferably in tan as that was the color I used in college.

Great discussion guys! Thank you for helping me put finger to keyboard on this!

It is a shame they didn't make it symmetrical so that it could be used for either hand, or for a giant pair of hands. If they had done it bowl shaped with four fingers it would still be recognisable but dual use.

You're welcome! :} I don't give a damn about baseball but I was just thinking that Lego should make an umpire to help complete everyone's baseball MOCs. And they could make two coaches with sumo wrestler potbellies. As an aside, if I click "Flag" will that put my picture under the comment with a thumbs up or is that to flag that someone has put something inappropriate? I wanted to click flag but I didn't know what it would do. My stealing of the quote probably won't come out right either but here goes...

100% agreed on the left handed/right handed glove issue. I'm a lefty myself, so I was hoping it would be symmetrical. I don't see them releasing another baseball figure of any sort for in the foreseeable future, unfortunately.

I wife loves clowns. Her friend hates clowns. I want to put a clown under her friends bed with a walkie talkie inside of it and wait outside their house and have some fun when the lights go out

    I wonder if the welder is a male or a female under that mask? (You'll have to forgive me, I'm trying to jokingly address debates from other threads and articles I've been reading currently. Must...resist...commenting...further!) :}

He is male. They haven't put female curves on the torso like they do with other female (human) minifigs.

    But if a female was wearing welding gear you wouldn't be able to tell. Unless she was wearing really tight overalls.:}
