We've had two baseball players already, I'd prefer a cricketer with a bat. That would be ideal for all those Shaun of the Dead customs ...
For what it is worth, the first image that comes up on a google search is this one.
OK, it may not have a back, but I reckon if lego did a baseball catcher, then they would use an existing helmet with grille. Maybe the footballers one is a slightly better colour match than the hockey one.
I still cannot understand why the glove has fingers. Lego men (Hagrid excepted) don't have fingers so a less detailed fingerless one would be more realistic for minifigs. Maybe it just doesn't look right without fingers.
My son is going to love him.
I will be really annoyed if they make him 2 per box.
I've been working on my catcher design for sometime now and I am still not settled on what to go with. Here are just a few thoughts I have. @sidersdd has played a big part in inspiration:
Catcher's Mask: I do not agree with the hockey player or football player's mask for a catcher. I much rather would prefer the following:
Chest Protector: My favorite selection is from Lord Garmadon. I purchased the minifigure off of BrickLink simply for the piece below. The issue I've run into is the torso does not fit into minifigure legs.
Additionally these pieces could also work (Last one would require a tile or two attached:
Shin Guards: So far this piece turned around has yielded the best results for a desired look.
Those are my thoughts on a purist catcher. Again, I cringe at the thoughts of modifying LEGO parts. I am a purist all the way.
Also, I would love another baseball glove for a left handed person. Currently the glove only works for right handed throwers. I would settle for the same mold in a wide array of colors Baseball Glove Colors. Preferably in tan as that was the color I used in college.
Great discussion guys! Thank you for helping me put finger to keyboard on this!
He is male. They haven't put female curves on the torso like they do with other female (human) minifigs.
But if a female was wearing welding gear you wouldn't be able to tell. Unless she was wearing really tight overalls.:}
I know, but they would still put curves.
Why, are you planning a Flashdance MOC? :-)
Sorry, I'm too young to know what you are referring to. (Hums "She's a Maniac" as he types) :}
