Grand Emporium Flaw

I purchased the Grand Emporium a few weeks ago and just recently put it together... mostly. It is missing one piece due to a flaw. The decorative flower on the roof cannot be attached. The directions indicate that a white faucet is to be inserted in the top (much like how you insert faucets into dishes to make wall lamps) . However the top side of my decorative flower has a closed stud preventing anything from being inserted. Looking at the box, I can clearly see the tip of the faucet and a small gap when I look at the center of the decorative flower. Has anyone else encountered this and worked out a solution that does not involve modifying the part or getting a replacement?

It is a known production error. Contact LEGO and they will send out the correct part.

I just ordered one. Meanwhile I did come up with a nice solution. I connected a 2x2 circular plate to the top of the flower. The plate has a plus shaped hole in the center which fits the faucet perfectly. The flowers just stick out the thickness of a plate farther than it should which is not even noticeable especially if the plate is white.

I had the same flawed piece in my GE. The first replacement piece I ordered online was the exact same when it arrived, so I called them and specifically told them the problem and the second replacement they sent was correct.

Heh, I consider the flaw in that set to be one escalator. It's like the ultimate shopping trap. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but there is no way off this floor so you might as well shop."
