Good opportunity for female characters but that requires feminine printing rather than generic heads with feminine hairpieces. Also can't have anachronistic printing like a microphone headset.
20 is too big for a 16x16 baseplate, and my 32x32s are blue, will need a workaround.
These guys arrived the other day and I have finally been able to open up the box. Finally a bunch of Uruks to add to my small collection so when I finish @KevBrickstruct Helm's Deep, there will be a decent army facing the defenders. I've seen so many of these sell for $7-$10 apiece that when I saw a lot from an unopened shipping box that averaged about $4 each, I finally pulled the trigger.
How many Uruks were in the box in total?
The Uruks have a long way to go until they get all of the bags opened. Unless they are being tasked with destruction or hobbit-nappings, they tend to get pretty lazy.

Like on the real soundstage, it had other parts of the ship attached to it, like the observation lounge, a turbolift, a section of ten forward, and part of the holodeck. Unfortunately I needed most of the parts for other MOCs back then, but I never could bring myself to break up the bridge itself. Have finally done it after making an LDD version of it.
The new version will of course be as close to the "real" thing as possible. Back in the day when I built the old one, I only had a very limited choice of colours available, as you can see. And as I had used most of my old grey pieces on the interior, when it came to building several ships (Excelsior, Nebula class, Miranda class), I used white (and even yellow!) for those. Example:
What I am actually building right now, with our older daughter, is this (after having finished rebuilding my old Aquanauts base out of nostalgia recently. which you can see in the background):
Can't decide between 80 x 48 studs cave footprint or 64 x 48 studs. Ideally i'd the Wayne Manor to be the larger size, but I don't think the cave could take the weight of a 2 storey manor of that size. Just spend 2 hours messing on with it, if I commit to the smaller size i've probably got a few hours work left on the cave.
The periphery will be sturdy enough, but the floor of the Manor that would be around 24 x24 studs above the Bat Computer's reactor doesn't have much support. Trying out a double technic beam frame above it that will tie in to a back wall much like the inside back wall of the set's Wayne Manor section.
My parts bin for the project currently includes the parts from 3 full batcave sets + 2 additional Wayne Manor sections, a load of reddish brown pieces for the Manor's wooden hallway and a stack of medium dark flesh brick patterned 1x4 and 1x2 bricks.
Maybe i've bitten off more than I can chew here - a cutaway accurate office with the batpoles etc above a big batcave might've been more than enough. Might have to consider a few lightbricks too - it'll be pretty dark in that cave. I need to work a hinge in there somewhere too to open it up.

I think I will pick up a couple of the deeper ones to try.
I have been using them for sorting of used sets as well as storage. I was disappointed that the bins can only fit in the same size box.
They are ideal for travel though, and I really like that.
Started #41122 Adventure Camp Tree House, my largest official set.
The medium azure 16x16 plate is curved, the first time I've had a damaged or missing part. The replacement parts page was fairly easy to find and use. I built as much as possible without it, through bag #2. I didn't want to build around it and have opened half-used bags
I took a reddish brown 1x8 for my collection of common shapes by color. The spares I had handy were original brown 1x2's.
I put the Joy minidoll for variety in a crowd scene. I replaced it with legged versions of Ariel and Alana from #41063 Ariel's Undersea Palace. The bikinis seemed appropriate for the river part of the set anyway.
@AustinPowers I also improvise with MOCs based on piece supply. Now that I'm an adult, I have more, so that isn't much of a factor. I'm not a Trekkie, so I can't judge it on realism, but it still looks pretty good in and of itself.
@Thoughtsonblocks A castle MOC is something I want to do, to go with all the small medieval sets I have. I might use your picture as inspiration. I'm going to try looking at the instructions for official castle models like #9471 and #9474 .
I love the detail. I was a bit confused on what went where, the first time I've had even minor difficulty with a build, and I liked the challenge. I had to reverse the roof halves because the slopes were pointing upwards. Much of the set has assemblies that looked like they'd be too hard to disassemble.
The clip and arm setup on the halves of the treehouse was a great idea so the model can be easily rearranged but still stay put. I also liked halves of a hinge being separate colors, a missed opportunity for multipart hinges.
However, like usual:
Most instruction steps were small and almost.
It's frustrating that minidolls can't sit/lay down, and the furniture with a smooth tile surface doesn't work.
A bunch of small pieces inflated the piececount.
Expanded my color collection:
Reddish brown 2x6 - like the 1x8, I replaced it with original brown. That was nice variety, like the official set's use of reddish brown, dark brown and dark orange.
Light bluish gray 2x3 - I had 1x2 and 2x2 in that color. This got me to sort the bluish out of my light gray bags.
Still waiting for the final piece from Australia but losing hope it will arrive. Some quick photos:
For projects with specific bricks in mind Bricklink and Brickowl are usually your best option.
For Large quantities of certain parts (tiles, some of the longer technic bricks or rarer parts out of recently discontinued or current sets) the PAB selection or Bricks and Pieces on the [email protected] website can sometimes work out cheaper than paying lots of shipping costs on the other two sites.
The PAB wall in a BAM store can often be useful for general bricks, greenery and smaller parts but it really is pot luck with what is available although if you get a helpful member of staff they will check out the back to see if they have what you want, even if it's not out on the wall yet.
This is all I've got so far, I'm pretty proud of the mall roof, but I'm not sure if I'm feeling the rest of it yet. I'm thinking of seeking some feedback.

Not sure yet what to do with this dragon: protect e.g. #70751 Temple of Airjitzu, or terrorise some townsfolk? Decisions, decisions... For the time being this dragon is contemplating whether it would be safe to eat Unisithy.
For example
All of the windows in the walls we had on hand, almost all of the tan bricks, the slopes, the plates around the edge of the roof, most of the train track in the roof, the Technic pieces supporting the roof were in our sorted bins. The white turn table bases making up the stained glass in the center, plus all of the translucent pieces behind them, came from the PAB wall at various times, as did some of the panels in the roof, and a heck of a lot of sand green, transparent 1x2s and brown chairs inside, oh and all the white panels. The rest of the panels in the roof came from bricklink along with the black hinges and some tiles added after this photo. The palm leaves came from LUG support.
I'm able to pull together MOCs without buying many specific bricks because we have a lot on hand, but also because I have that in mind. So I buy multiple copies of Creator houses and extras of other buildings when I find them on sale. This is why I had that many white framed windows.
If you're the kind of person who builds in LDD, or equivalent, first, I think it's really hard to keep to what's on hand. I've been fielding all sorts of crap from my husband lately, as we get ready for this show, for getting to pieces before he can and having to explain why we don't have others :/
Obviously everyone wants to minimize costs, I do this by buying useful sets on sale when possible. When buying individual pieces you sometimes don't have much choice. We're in a LUG that does a lot with trains so I have about 80 feet of straight 9V track, this is not cheap but there are few options. But I'm reinterpreting the Grand Carousel in candy colors that we had on hand or were cheap on bricklink, because it doesn't have to be brick red and tan, nor does it need to have all those bits that fall off.
She's not really bothered though, and uses the Force to have them go after Jar Jar Binks instead:
As Jar Jar does not possess the Force, the next scene involves some round 1x1 trans-red tiles, but as children also visit this forum I will refrain from posting that...
I have to say that it's an absolutely fantastic build, and an amazing model. It's a strong contender for set of the year, in my opinion - and I've built Big Ben, the GB HQ and the Technic Porsche.
In the bag is the castle ballista freebie, and the Louvre box is on top of it (but I've managed to build that one!)
i have the 1st draft of the building shell done.
but have already seen part's i would like to rebuild better.
i will keep on tweeking it until i am happy.
