That plan of leaving new acquisitions in their boxes until I'm done moving shelves around... deciding to work on the Batcave in the meantime was a mistake. So over the last few days I've put together the Star Scavenger, Eclipse fighter, Ghost Rider, Doc Ock's mech, the Roxxon airport truck, Spidey bridge battle, Scarecrow's harvester, the Bat-tank (what), Jakku, and the blue X-Wing.

Still a really great find though, well done! My old Space and Castle sets are almost entirely discolored, the grey pieces at least. I kinda find it.... charming, for lack of a better word. :D Shows it's age, shows that these are from my childhood, shows the love.

^^ that's the set I always wanted but never got. My brother got it instead (don't get me started on what else my brother got instead of me, it's a bloody long list). Well done on acquiring it!

Not built a set for a while so decided to pull out #75140 Republic Transporter and make a start on that. It's a really enjoyable build so far but suspect I'm going to end up wanting to get 'Old' Han to go with it and he ain't that cheap!

YES!! It is 100%. Now I just have to break it down, clean some pcs and deodorize. Fun build did not take as long as I thought.

I am soooooooooooooooooo jealous right now!!! More pics please! =) (BTW thanks and that looks so awesome!)

I have a real building dilemma on my hands today - UK bank holiday, the missus is away with work - do I strengthen and board out the roof cavity space behind the airing cupboard (the weather is nice enough to have the tabled circular mitre saw out for cutting the 4x2.

    OR....

I could get back to my planned expanded Batcave/Wayne Manor which has been neglected and tidied away in a few drawers.

Bank holiday drinking is off the table - I got wrecked at a wedding on Saturday, and my insides still haven't forgiven me.

I didn't make an arse of myself or throw up (i'm a very composed drunk) - but 24-48 hours after a 15 pint session my stomach always makes me wish I had thrown it up.

I made a start on the proper building work and not long after my driver batteries have died...on charge now and i'm watching TFA.

Always a good excuse. Whenever I come down to visit and my mum asks me to do DIY, I am very careful not to put the drill on to charge the night before. ;-)

(Not really...but it does happen accidentally a lot. Perhaps it's my subconscious speaking...)

Because being a completionist means having sets you really don't like.

(Although, the build on the Cadillac is very good.)

Not sure what the toolbox is for.  Didn't see the new movie, so that will remain a mystery until GB is on Netflix.

^ I am one of the few that liked the movie and I am looking forward to getting this set next week to take advantage of the promo.

From Wikipedia: A toolbox (also called toolkit, tool chest or workbox) is a box to organize, carry, and protect the owner's tools. :-)

I hope you like the movie too when you get a chance to watch it.

These alt builds are amazing! Might need to prod my family towards getting that set for me for Christmas. ;-) But then I also want a crack at a proper Technics 'supercar' - there's no way I'll be getting the official Porsche, so might go looking on the aftermarket for retro Technics sets...

I wouldn't say this is much of a building, more of a creation of sorts. A friend of mine had a shadow box he was going to use for his minifig collection, but it got too big so he gave it to me. I had no clue what to do with it since I stopped collecting minifigs, but hey, how could I turn down a free shadow box, right?

anyways I saw a couple bags of old colourful Lego that I was definitely not going to be using so I filled the box up with it all and I'm actually quite fond of the end result. I'll need to hang it up somewhere...

We went to Costco yesterday and they had the new city advent calendar in stock but what my non Lego loving husband bought was 75138-1 Hoth Attack. We had a good time building it together and added it to his collection in his office. (Last year he bought 75049-1/Snowspeeder and 75054-1/AT-AT on May the Fouth) Do you think he is coming round?

Just finished building my 10188 Death Star (the vintage one, is suppose? :) I've had it sitting in the basement for over a year now waiting until I saw pictures of the new one so I could decide which one to keep. After seeing 75159 Death Star, my decision became much easier. One of the best sets I've ever built!

Spent 2 full days (~12 hrs) building the UCS Imperial Shuttle for the 2nd time (1st time was back in 2012 when it was still current). Still blown away by how great and fun the build is. And still feel this is one of the most epic & beautiful sets ever made by Lego. So imposing and awe striking with its immense size, pictures can't do it justice.
That is the UCS set I covet above all the others. I was not aware of it's existence when I made my first large LEGO purchase of #10221 . I may have to one day buy this. It is truly magnificent.

I do love Master Wu Dragon, it's a great set, however, I've just finished building #70593 The Green NRG Dragon and, wow, is it large! I don't have #70736 Attack of the Morro Dragon to compare it with, but it's surprisingly bulky, with a massive wingspan, thanks to the cloth wing membranes, which look fantastic, with their metallised gold colouring underneath.
It also stands quite tall and looks very muscular, thanks to the two bigfig Giant No. 1 Left / Right Arms, which form the base of the wings.
    From shop.lego.com:
"The Green NRG Dragon measures over 5” (15cm) high, 14” (37cm) long and 8” (21cm) wide with folded wings, and 22” (57cm) wide with unfolded wings."

I'm going to have to rebuild all my other Ninjago dragons, to line them all up for a photoshoot... :-)

I think the morro dragon is near 60cm long but I haven't built it yet. My biggest so far is the epic 4 headed dragon. apparently it is about 55cm long and 17-18cm high.

I completed the palace cinema recently and it is impressively big (I guess you all know how big it is). the problem is the parisian restaurant looks small next to it. actually my only model which may not look small by comparison is vladek's dark fortress...

Yes, #10232 Palace Cinema is large, but it is dwarfed in turn by #10247 Ferris Wheel etc. etc. etc. ;-)

that's why I haven't built my ferris wheel yet. though I was in one this summer and it's true they tower over buildings. I was even surprised to find it uses the same mechanism than the lego version, with tyres making the wheel turn.

    Correct... You've also got:
    #70599 Cole's Dragon
    #70602 Jay's Elemental Dragon
    #70748 Titanium Dragon
#30294 The Cowler Dragon (I think that's it)
  • TheOriginalSimonBTheOriginalSimonB Felixstowe Member Posts: 1,307
The Cowler lookalike is actually from the 70733 Blaster Bike set.

The good lady wife has been hinting that we swap our current study and spare bedrooms over, so I am giving serious thought to the idea on the basis that it will be easier to get big enough shelves to fit all the dragons on as part of a refit rather than trying to cram them into the existing arrangement.

It shouldn't be hard to find at a good price, I'd think. I seem to remember that it became a very common item on clearance shelves in the US. BrickLink has new, complete copies for as low as $37 USD/£28 GBP (the original RRP was $90 USD/£70 GBP). Unless your post was sarcastic, of course. Sometimes it's tough for me to pick up on that.

Back to Star Wars for a bit and a quick build of the Brick Owl'd Space Slug. A slight error in the wish list I used from someone else meant I hadn't ordered the trans blue round 1 x 1, so I replaced that with dish and a round plate for the short term.

I can't quite make up my mind about that one... On balance, I don't think that it's one I want. Neither do I want any of the other earlier ones, as I don't think they're up to the same level as the newer ones. Of course, that's probably not surprising...
