I started Brick Bank back in February. I've built the first floor over the last two months. Really taking my time enjoying the build.

Blimey, that takes things to a new level entirely! Are you doing one step per day?

Nice, I build small sets in like a hour. and big sets in like 4/5 hours.

Another factor for me for how fast I build is whether or not I try to align the LEGO logos to face the same direction as much as possible or not.

That's the kind of attention to detail that really impresses! Although I imagine it could drive you mad on the more awkward models!

    half way done with #75103.
a good chuck of this build is cosmetic.
when i was done with bag 2 i had the main framework for the build done.
bag 3 added the side panels. it coming together. :)
the First Order Storetroopers look cool.
think i need to get my self some more of them.
    hmm battle pack maybe,

    well finished #75103,
    it is small looking.
    but it a cool build.
i not seen the movie yet, so we will see what i think of that.
who knows may grow to love it more.
right now i like it. and as i only payed £49.99 for it. i am happy with it.
dont think i could have said that if i had payed full price for it.

Nothing fancy, but just been putting the finishing touches on a bit of nostalgia; I got the 'mid-scale' Star Destroyer when it came out just to have a Star Destroyer, but I never really cottoned to it not being 'minifig scale' (even as ludicrous as that is given the massive scale disparity in the ones that, theoretically, are), and I was much happier later on to get a 'proper' ISD.  But a glimpse of a model in a friend's Star Wars tabletop starship combat game reminded me of the good ol' Victory class Star Destroyers I used to make miserable in TIE Fighter (traitors can't hide, Zaarin...) ever so long ago, and now here we are:

Bit of Matt Smith's leg there, too.  As I say, nothing fancy (and the eagle-eyed may note that the lower 'wings' don't match the top; didn't have the parts to hand, so I went with near-enough), but I'm happy with it, and it can get tucked underneath the ISD on my Imperial shelf and be suitably smaller.

And that build, having taken longer than two minutes, justifies this post, in which I'll now shove a couple of really teensy pieces that I'm rather pleased with but wouldn't be worth mentioning on their own.  First up, a redesign of the micro-Phantom from the modification of the micro-Ghost:

Only four parts, and I have to say it was more luck than design, but as someone who's very impressed by the micro-models in the calendars and such, and usually is pants at actually devising those sorts of things on my own, I'm really happy with how much I see the Phantom in that little thing.

And finally tonight, something that was as much a surprise as anything, this worked:

Asajj Ventress with hair (and Ahsoka just because) - simply the white slicked-back piece, rotated off-centre; I don't post it so much as to boast as just to share, because it was a complete fluke I'd never even considered on purpose: I had just thought I'd give the hair a try (straight), and didn't much like it, but on a whim turned it a bit, and even though it's not really the right design, it kind of works.  (Plus it gives me the opportunity to be passive-aggressively dismissive of Dark Disciple, geez Asajj, really, Quinlan Vos? Way to fail the Mako Mori test in one leap from a standing start... I'll get off my soapbox now.)

Just finished building the second of two from a #4892 I found complete & sealed bags for £2.50 the other day.
Built the elephant last night with the help of my 3 year old daughter & she wanted me to take it apart straight away & build the triceratops.
The elephant is a slightly annoying build as it has 2x1 plates on top of each other in a couple of places & the set feels like it has a lot more clutch than more recent sets. Made it difficult to pry the pieces apart.
I prefer the triceratops as a build & model. It's now on a window sill shrugging off the attentions of the T-rex build from #31024

Finished the Ghostbusters HQ  earlier today. In this picture, Egon is studying the mating rituals of ghosts. See how the female  ghost (obviously pink) chases after the male (naturally blue)? When female ghosts get that red, frenzied look in their eyes....

No. From experience, female ghosts are very pushy and sexually aggressive. The pink ghost has the same red eyes of Dana Bennet in Gatekeeper mode. Nuff said !

Just finished up the owl from 31044. Scrawny creature isnt he? The parrot's companion, Frog, opted out of the photo while Fly had no such choice seeing as how he passed out drunk where the photo was to be taken. Don't hover around open malt liquor containers, little buddy. Of couse, the flamboyant parrot would never miss such a great opportunity to pose down with brother owl. Speaking of flamboyant, wheres our proper PEACOCK, Lego?

Currently working on building #75095 UCS Tie Fighter.  Up to the point where I am building the wings which is fun but monotonous (understandable for such a symmetrical model).  The cockpit build was pretty cool though and the stickers are minimal.

    building right now?
me i am building #10248 in right hand drive.
making the build a little harder but it make it a bit more fun.
i also need to rebuild my VW camper Van in to a Right hand Drive.
to do that will need to do a almost complete rebuild.
as the back half of that been need to be a mirror image for a uk model witch is what i am aiming for. the mini is already right hand drive. when done all 3 side by side in Right hand Drive will look good :) but that is a fair ways off yet.

Just finished the Scooby Doo Mystery-Mansion A fun build!
That is what I am working on. Will finish it up today :-D. I love the pumpkins so much

  • DNADNA Member Posts: 89
Those pumpkins from the mansion are great.

I built Ariel's underwater palace. I was happy to be able to acquire the Ariel and Ursula minifigs through a bricksetter. My niece is going to love playing with this.

Ariel has such great hair. It's probably my favorite hair out of any of the female minifigs from any series.

Sat down last night and finally built the #21108 I opened last fall, but never got around to starting. It's a great representation, although I doubt I ever get the GB Firehouse to pair it with.

I remain optimistic that I will start having more time to build once my youngest (just turned 2) gets a little older. He's been a horrible sleeper lately in terms of going down for the night, so I rarely have the energy to build in the evenings.

My brother just competed building #10225 UCS R2-D2.  It is just about the most adorable looking Lego set I have seen.  I have no idea why I passed on it when it was in production,  but am so happy to have one now and on display.

Just built a buildable Darth Vader. With the Smyths reduction and £6 off £20 promotion it was under £15 inc a Disney CMF to get it over the £20 threshold to apply the discount.

Disappointingly the sticker sheet for my UCS Batcave is defective - it has a tight curl in it because the skeletal cut out of the adhesive layer is laying stretched over the backing sheet and the stickers are curling along the edges - need to make a call to Lego CS.

I've just started on #10232 Palace Cinema this morning, with my son trying to help, but making it more difficult (he's not yet 2).

I'm also trying to build my own custom lighthouse too in the digital designer.

I'm rebuilding and modding #4514 and #4512 to be more realistic, whilst minimizing the changes to the actual models so they're still recognisable.

the build for #75104 is fun. and the model quite big.
love to MOC it to have the right wings but dont know how to go about that.
anyone made a guide on MOC-ing this one so it matchs the movie?
i love to have a look at that guide see if i have the parts to pull it off.

shipping from russia to france isn't necessarily much more expensive than from germany or the netherlands in my experience. I suppose shipping to the uk wouldn't be drastically different.
I think the collapse of the rouble may have helped a lot in keeping shipping costs low.

Would you be opposed to just using a mixture of 1x6s, 1x4s and 1x2s? Many people do that not only because they're easier to find but also to keep costs down.

Trying to complete this fire station. It has most of the pieces (there's about 500 more in bags stuffed inside) but there are definitely lots missing as you can see from the face of the building. Sorry for the mess of stuff around it, doing a bit moving around.
