I think that road section is from one of the old Lego Studios sets ( #1349 ?) - the idea being that you could make a Godzilla movie where a dinosaur stomped on the road, causing it to crack and showing lava below.

I think that was an ingenious piece to use for the bay doors. But does it actually slide open?
  • danstraindepotdanstraindepot Member Posts: 172
No, not yet.   I just wanted to get it done.   I did build it in such a way that I think I can revisit it and get it to operate.   My son has already reminded me I should have done that in the first place =)

So I built #31039 today. What a great set! Nice build, great colors, creative techniques and a fabulous finished product. Another reason Creator continues to be my favorite theme in the LEGO catalog.

Hi! I haven't started yet but I wanted to get your guys' opinions first. I'm either going to MOC the Detective's Office (possibly but I love that building) or I'm thinking about going and building a building :P
  • ethanjwallethanjwall Member Posts: 118
Oh, and the second one, the building, it isn't gonna be anything spectacular, and it would mostly be gray bricks :(

Can try this alternate build, I reverse-engineer it from http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=559042

    Cool.

Test build complete. Some revisions to make, and I need to track down the axle pins in LBG, as the blue is a bit more noticeable than I had hoped.

Still, one could argue this was a triumph.

Finished work a bit early today so managed to finish the Sandcrawler. I have been really impressed with the way it has gone together, there are some really clever build techniques building this set. I also think it makes a nice display piece as well, it's size is impressive, the details on the back are well done and the designers have captured the shape of it really well.

Saturday morning well spent in front of the TV watching Gotham, Supergirl and Agents of Shield while building the one and only Ant Man!

    Awesome this looks so cool.

Thought that after finishing the Sandcrawler i would keep things Jawa orientated and build the #75136 Droid Escape Pod. Nice little build, nothing to technical but if you do not like stickers.... DO NOT buy this set.
The detailing and general finish of the escape pod is made up of 4 reasonably sized stickers that should all line up.
My eyes are not what they used to be but I don't usually have to much of a problem fitting stickers but getting all 4 to line up round the entire build are a huge pain in the butt. Would personally have preferred brick built greebling on the sides.

I added a cargo net to my Rey's Speeder to make it a bit more movie accurate. After a long day of scrapping you need someplace to store the parts to bring back to Unkar Plutt.I wonder how many portions an Ender crystal is worth today?

I have this set as well.  I should do this to it.

Just finished building #10211 Grand Emporium (from a new, sealed set) and instead of the #6047840 Flower part, I got #6000019 Flower... Anybody had this issue with this set? :(

    that has been seen before.
in that pet shop has a part that should be a fence that is 4 studs long with 1 stud at each end, but in the set you get a fence that has 4 studs on top.
i have seen other sets ware in the book it said you should get a part with a hole. but the set for real has a normal stud, and the other way around. when it dose not prevent you from building the model this can happen.

I had the same thing with my Fire Brigade - the 1x4 fence that should have had four studs across the top only has two studs - one on each corner.
  • JooTogJooTog Member Posts: 945
I had the fence issue also, but it did not prevent me from finishing the built. That is not the case with the Grand Emporium; without the hole on top, it cannot be placed on the set, so the building is incomplete.

right then!, thats a, Phone Lego.
and explain what happened, Lego Should send you the right part.
Note it is not going to be fast, i had a replacement part take weeks.

I just wonder how common it is to have missing parts. First time it happen to me.

i own (going by what brickset tells me.) 184 set's. of them 184 set's. i have only had 2 sets with any problem that i have had to phone lego about, and both of them for someone who was a little less picky about stuff could have lived with.
(miss print on a homer head, and a corner brick Tan. (also known as sand yellow.) that had what looked like earth blue flakes mixed in to the brick.)

the homer head was a little harder to get, but only by 2 minutes of chat on a phone.
i had to prove i own the set. with a unique code that each set has.
the brick was easy, as i had got the set right from shop@home.

i always feel that a phone call is better when it comes to getting replacement parts.

I had the same problem with the fences for the Pet Shop but I happened to have 3 extra of the old 2 stud style. From what I was told on the boards there it was just a change in the mold design sometime during the production run.

One topic of what I am building, I working on both the Parisian Restaurant as well as the Detective's Office (working on one in the bedroom and the other in the dining room :) ). After these are done I'll start on the Brick Bank.

Started #41106 yesterday evening. Happy with it so far, but barely got through bag 2 because I was tired. Will see how far I get with it tonight, maybe even start #41135.

Sometimes building is tedious. Maybe I prefer playing with or displaying the finished model. Perhaps I'm not used to sets with a few hundred pieces.

Had a similar problem with #41106 Pop Star Tour Bus. Livi's star logo is spread across 2 panels, which are transparent, so smudges on the back of the sticker are noticable. Also, I turned the star the wrong way on one.

Built bag 3 of that last night. Did one of the stickers from bag 4 and put the wheels in the tires. Would've done more if I hadn't been busy with BrickLink.

Finished it this evening. Still like it overall, but some of the roof pieces aren't supported enough.

@JooTog This is a known problem with GE. I remember several complaints about it here on the forum a few years back.

Some of you may recall seeing work-in-progress photos of my large-scale version of Rey's Speeder. I thought I'd add some more, with the outer skin added to it. I still need to get a load of Dark Orange parts for it, to replace all the white curves and finish the skin off, but you can get a good idea of what it'll be like from these photos. I also need to do the net for the side of it.

    This is pretty cool.
  • datsunrobbiedatsunrobbie Member Posts: 1,832
Rey's Speeder is really looking good. Are you planning to make your own net for the side, or sourcing from LEGO, maybe one from #3409?

Just finished round one of tinkering with my Affleckmobile, based on Tfcrafter's front axle fix - I went in a different direction in terms of looks after that, losing a lot of the actual armour (and the ability to rotate the turret) in favour of keeping everything as thin and aggressive at the front as I could.

After that I added a plate's width to the side panels of the body and built out the detail to either side of the canopy, to make it look wider and flatter.  And most importantly, if there is even a one percent chance it'll need subwoofers, we have to take it as an absolute certainty:

Yeah there is also a lot from the lego board games.  I have a lot from there.

Started #41135 - through most of bag 2 last night and finished the bag this afternoon.

Since minidolls can't sit down, LEGO includes furniture with tiles, but the minis don't stay put on that either. So I'm going to Bricklink the furniture parts. One of my few gripes with sets I usually like.

Letting my older brother get into the Lego fun as he rebuilds some of my Star Wars UCS sets. So far in the last few days he has rebuilt the #10129 Snowspeeder and #7181TIE Interceptor. He is currently building the #10178 Motorized AT-AT with the #10174 AT-ST on deck.

It's almost, if not more fun, watching a family member enjoy the Lego building experience as it is building it myself :)

I think after that I might disassemble the #10179 Falcon and surprise him by having him rebuild it. I'm sure he will do a better job at it than I did :)

Just acquired all the parts for the Imperial Flagship #10210. I had to change up the color scheme a bit. I was not paying $60/each for the mast supports. I'm also probably turning it into a pirate ship. I'll post some pics when it's done.

I'm building Doomsday, sort of halfway between the comics and BvS. It's taking a while, and at the moment he's only got one leg, but hopefully he'll be done soon.
