Must be a lucky day. I just opened a hulk buster smash and got 2 hulks instead of one...

Heck I will take it. Time to commence building.

^^  That's really surprising... how did it get through the quality checks that TLG do?

I'm sure I read somewhere that they weigh each set to help ensure accuracy.  I can understand +/- the odd 1x1 plate in a set, but an entire Hulk?  Perhaps it's programmed as badly as the [email protected] website (e.g. it only flags sets where the weight is below the expected value!).

@flord, the plans were purchased from baronsat, who has a website and sells on ebay.

@sumolego, don't be hating on the doily, it's one of a kind haha
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
Definitely not hating on the doily.  If it is a real doily.

I'm sure there is a doily module for Photoshop...
  • Rsa33Rsa33 Member Posts: 156
Are you implying i photoshop?  Perhaps you have been eating too much sausage...

It's real just like all my lego, well w the exception of my custom bullseye minifig...

Mmmm... sausage.  I also eat doilies.

I'm desperately waiting for a Daredevil set!

    Hahaha.

A daredevil set w kingpin, elektra, bullseye, foggy nelson, punisher, and karen page minifigs, would be absolutely game over.

I just built #75093 Death Star Final Duel I was able to get for around 20% off on Amazon Warehouse Deals. I mostly bought it for the minifigures, which are in my opinion, the best versions of all characters included, as I've just started collecting Star Wars Lego again, but I really enjoyed the build! It's detailed enough to display, but it also makes a really great playset, having lots of fun little features.

i have to admit, i don't find star wars non ships set's that interesting to me,
however #75093 is one set that if i had more money, i would get.
if i had returned to lego full time 2 or 3 years ago. i would have less of the big set's to pick up, and i would have this set on my list.
but if there is one thing i know in life that is.
unless you win big on the Loto, you NEVER have enough money,
ok i know this is not true for all people. but it is true for Most people.

My Pet Shop had a duplicate bag of parts. A good sized bag too. So they do get through the checks from time to time. Six Sigma sort of thing. Even a great process will have its defects on the rare occasion.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^My Lex Power Armor set also came with an extra bag, which was the one containing the minifigs =). Considering its a small set to begin with, the difference in weight is quite large. So I do not think their system of weighing is all they say it to be.
  • MynattMynatt Member Posts: 631
So I do not think their system of weighing is all they say it to be.
I believe that a product is usually taken off the production line due to being under weight. Having a product underweight will result in an unsatisfied customer. On the other side having an extra bag slipped into a box to increase the weight is less of a big deal. It takes effort to take the product off the production line, find the duplicate, and then get it back onto the assembly line. This is only worth it when a piece is missing.

Product underweight = Unhappy customer = Problem
Product overweight = Happy customer = No Problemo

right now i am building a reverse 10218 Pet Shop (book 1) (set of bag's 1, the ground level of "The house")

  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
@mynatt works in our favor once in a blue moon it seems, so no complaints here. Just surprising something like that can slip through. It was obvious in the store when choosing between boxes for best condition, that it was just slightly heavier.

Well, in one of the police sets I bought 2 years ago (either the forest police station or the mobile police unit) I got 5 identical sheets of stickers instead of 1 sheet of stickers. Mistakes do happen both ways.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ I had forgotten about that. That's happened to me as well. Never 5 sheets, but doubles multiple times. I assumed they had simply stuck together at the factory.
  • brumeybrumey Member Posts: 1,002
    just finished palace cinema

    pet shop is next.
    and then brickbank!

    gaawd. loving those modulars!

Spent New Years Eve building #60047 and #60007 with my kids.  Was a much more fun way to spend $100 than paying for drinks and a babysitter!

Started the Parisian Restaurant last night.  Got through the first set of bags and the tedious 1x1 plates and tiles.  Hope to finish it and add it to the block over the next few nights..

This is what I was doing 2 days ago. Yep, a lovely bit of sorting for a lovely little haul! I sort it by piece not by colour at the moment. Yep

@Lee sorting by type first makes finding a part easier since the brain can distinguish colors faster than the form when all parts got same color. I only sort by color when too many of one type accumulate and the boxes need a split

right now i am working on 71016 Kwik E Mart,
got stage one done and am about to start on the two bag's of stage 2.

and i am having fun. :)

also have now finished the reverse 10218 Pet Shop "The house" build and it looks great next to the normal build,

here is a image of the 2 side by side, next to my Work in Progress MOC of the normal pet shop in to a Lego store, using some of the parts from the Lego Store build in #60097.

(PS) i am also thinking of getting 1 more Pet Shop set so i can combine 2 normal pet shops in to 1 big one.

    Kawaii~!!!!!
    that look so, so Kawaii!!!
if you could turn that in to a complete City set Size build that would be good.
i know some people dont have room for the full 32x32, but if you can pull it off i think some would build it.

ps. for any one who dont know.
(Kawaii is the Japanese word for the English word "Cute")
i use it here as it make a better word for exclaiming my love for how cute the model look's

let see, there are 2 types,
the open at the back with no back wall, and to slit open down the middle making 2 half's (sets like corner deli and bike shop, are City sized set's)
also looking at #60097, will tell you more about what is City sized.

@chrisalddin have you tried reversing the order of the Pet Shop houses to have the doors next to each other?

not yet, pet shop "shop half" half of  #10218 is waiting for me to build it,
i also wish to build 2 Shop half's in to one 32x32 model,
i may when i get round to ordering the white brick for the lego shop moc of pet shop half, build that one in reverse,
this model has given me so many ideas that i would need 5 copy's of the model to pull them all off.
  • bluedragonbluedragon Member Posts: 506
That's not what I meant. At the moment you have 3 modules. How does it look if you switch the two on the left so that the entrances to the building are next to each other?

    let see. the slushy Machine
    ALL the God dam stickers.
    the wheelie bin.
the freezers, have been fiddly to build.
that all i can think of off the top of my head.

    still. i am having fun.
i am about to go back to building.
  • chrisalddinchrisalddin Member Posts: 3,041
    update.

    still working on #71016 Kwik-E-Mart
    and i just spotted this.

the set's uses so many of the Slope 45° 2 x 4 Part's that Lego placed a good number of them in a bag by there self. i have never seen lego do this before.
then again it's only been 4 months from the end of my dark age.

    just got done with Kwik-E-Mart.
60 stickers. i hate stickers, on the other hand, i have now work out a good way to place the Dam things.

so time for a picture or 5.

in the last picture Can you spot Bart?
part from dropping a tub with a full bag in it twice sending part's to the 4 winds of my floor!.
and that for this model i wish i had 5% smaller hands. (and i do not have fat hands my hand are keyboard hands.
this was a lot of fun to build and i am thinking about making a my view's of the model in a video on my YouTube channel.

now it time to work out how to display it.

as i can not find a post to show of your current Lego display's (unless i missed it i did look.) will i get shot at if i make one?

any how until i A- find the right discussion or B- Make a new one.
here is the display i just got done setting up,

1 or 2 little bit's that are not lego, but this is the only place i can put them.
and yes that Mixle is a MOC.
