A CMF bagpiper. Which I'd just taken apart. Don't judge, I'm stuck at work and not a little bored...

Just finished this PF powered logging train. It was designed Apojove and it won first prize in the recent Railbrick contest in the Steam and Passenger catagory. He posted the LDD instructions on "Rebrickable", Here's the link:

    http://rebrickable.com/mocs/StephenPakbaz/shay-engine

I'm not sure Lego could design a better model! It's very sturdy, it's colorful and it runs very well. It's powered by a "M" motor and had no problem towing the three log cars and caboose. I sourced all the parts through Bricklink and don't recall having problems with finding what I needed. Anyway, I had fun building it and, now, running it. When I get the time, I'd like to add a 3rd truck to it. It would be a good place for the IR receiver, since I had a tough time stuffing all the wires into the first log.

Here the shay is taking on water as it brings a load of redwood out of the Shasta mountains.

So I saw somewhere that someone did 52 weeks of small Lego builds. I figured that that sounded like fun so I am giving this a try. Now I'm no Master builder (I've seen so many things better than the builds I make)...but I figured this could be a fun "journal" of sorts for myself, my family, and my students. This is my week 3 build. It was celebrating my 39th birthday. I have been posting these on the Lego facebook page as well.

@cheekymunk3y‌ I see you have not applied your plaque sticker. :P Those stickers are always a chore, it's almost like an organized ceremony when I do it. XD

After the mess up I made of the Millennium Falcon stickers on all the circular parts I've been a bit apprehensive about applying any more stickers for the time being!

Very nice! Is that your design for the water tower? Thank you for sharing the link. I think I'm going to have to make this. Do you have LDD for the water tower?

Also will the XL-motor #8882 work instead of the M-motor #8883?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
Build #75082 Tie Advanced prototype last night. Nice little build. Particularly liked how they made a knob on the back that could fire both spring missiles inividually.

Also built the first 2 birds of #21301. Very cool so far. Liked how they separated them into separate books and bags. Would make selling the birds individually really easy which seemed odd since they seem to not want people doing that but continue to make it easy to do so. Looking forward to the hummingbird tonight as that is my favorite of the 3.

The water tower is my own design and Im redoing the LDD files for it. Not sure how long it will take but will let you know when they are done. No, an XL motor will not fit the current configuration but it might be possible if you re-do the tender section. Honestly, the m class motor provides plenty of pulling power so Im not sure an upgrade is needed. Ive got a "L" motor ordered to see if that works as it is supposed to be have more torque.

Snow day today so instead of working from home I started building the #10030 I picked up a few months ago. Got all of the main part of the ship done. Just have the center top part and the tower part to do. Thing is ridiculous. Love it.

I got my "L" motor tonight and tried it out. It is 1 stud longer and 2 or 3 plates taller than the "M" motor. Also, it doesn't have a stud clutching area (what do you call the bottom of a Lego brick?) so you would have to figure out a different way to mount it. Bottom line is that it involved too much modifying to make it fit.

As I said though, the "M" motor pulls at least 7 cars just fine. Not very fast but it has great pulling power just like the real thing so there is no need for any motor modifications.

Just finished the Pet Shop and my second Bike Shop/Cafe set.

I think I've decided to put the modulars on one side of the street and have the other side of the street made up of the "mini" and "micro" modulars like the Bike Shop/Cafe and Toy Store/Grocery sets in their various incarnations. The mini/micro side will end up looking like an outdoor bazaar if spread out with trees and a center gathering space.

^ I put some of the smaller city builds that I like behind the modulars, back by the tracks. You don't see them from the main view, only if you walk around the table.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
^,^^ I am working on making a raised section of my City that connects to the modulars and will hold smaller buildings like Bike Shop/Cafe and Diagon Alley structures and hopefully the train station on one end. Hoping to have it together in time for a LUG display in March.

I traveled into Technic history today. First, I went back 17 years thanks to @ecmo47, I got the last pieces missing for my #8462 Tow Truck. Despite the studded look, those were good days where sets like that had metal hook and 2 air tanks and looked finished. Sad that can't even put one air tank in sets like the #8110 Unimog.
Then almost 40 years ago, #853/#956 Car Chassis was the first Super Car released and I just finished building that one, it stands nicely in my now complete collection of super cars (I don't care what BrickSet says, #8466: 4X4 Off-Roader is not a super car  )

Nice! Glad you could make use of the set. That is one crazy looking wrecker. Also, you can really see the evolution of Lego design in the super car series.

After seeing that Tron MOC a week or 2 ago on another thread, I had to build it. Thank you to "Ewok in Disguise" (I am not sure if s/he is a bricket member) and their instructions.
My pictures are not as good as Ewok in Disguise's but I am happy of the final results.

I got my order of Elves sets from Amazon today, so I just finished building #41076 Crystal Hollow. It's a neat little set with a lot of nice parts, the highlight being four dark red Gothic arches. Looking forward to building #41073 Epic Adventure Ship and #41074 Magical Bakery tomorrow.

Currently building all of the Architecture series, many of which I had to buy from Ebay. However, I have all sets and built 12, another 7 to go... After that I'm going to finally get round to building the restaurant and cinema creator sets

I think the Elves theme is going to be a hit with AFOLs (at least those that like to build and/or MOC). Crystal Hollow is a good set, but the bakery and ship are fantastic. I can't wait for the summer wave and very much hope this theme continues beyond that.

I've been working on combining the parts from two Rancor Pits to support Jabba's Palace properly. I've finished the pits and they are looking good. The palace base is sitting on top properly. I now need to build the palace itself. I have a whole heap of parts left over from the second Rancor Pit so I'll probably revisit the bottom half once I've finished the top off.

The new French restaurant is proving to be quite popular with the residence of Clutchton, much to the dismay of the next door Cafe Corner!

Due to where I wanted the Parisian Cafe, I built it mirror image. No trouble except the door to the fridge will not work as it is not "reversible".

CC might drum up more business by having tables or chairs or perhaps food of some kind inside

Just finished my 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer. Been buying the pieces over the last two years. Looks cool in the old gray colours. Changed the colour of the magnet holders from tan to old dark gray as the tan ones are incredibly expensive.

I've put together my first Ninjago set, #70749 Enter the Serpent. It looked great on the box and even better in the flesh. This is a great set and I would highly recommend it. I'm starting to get into ninjago and looking forward to the summer wave.

Just made the valentines day set and I am smitten! Such a nice little build, I love the curtains and the marbled bricks.

Now opening some mixels - in between helping my son and his friend break up creator planes they are rebuilding. His friend is quite surprised that the mummy likes lego to :-)

#10181 Eiffel Tower. I have virtually all the parts for it in my collection, apart from the ridiculous 3633. I wonder does LEGO do it on purpose?
