A great set, and the one that got me out of the dark ages when my brother got me one at cost, which was too good a deal to pass up!

    Yeah, its an awesome model!

I have just finished the Mini Modular. What a great set. I love that it is one bag per building, and they are cuter than they look in the pictures. I was disappointed that one of my manuals was screwed up in the box, they weren't in a plastic bag or anything, just thrown in.

I think I already am lol. I have wanted nothing but modulars since building the Haunted House. I really enjoyed that. All the other sets I was collecting have been forgotten, I'm just not interested in them anymore.

So now...I have an addiction and obsession...I have to have every modular there is...oh my bank account is going to really suffer horribly :(

I completed #75059 Sandcrawler last night. A review will be arriving on the homepage in the not too distant future.

Yeah I know what you mean.....! I've got the Paris Restaurant to build and add to my Pet Shop, Town Hall, Grand Emporium and Palace Theatre! That's when I'm not building the city airport....

^ And then when you've built all those... you'll get withdrawal symptoms... you can't wait for the next release to arrive... so you decide to Bricklink one of the older ones.

Only the one, you promise yourself. And then... You're doomed!

^ I'm in the process of doing CC, GG and MS. My wallet hates me!

CC is done. Final BL order and Lego Bricks and Pieces parcel for GG arriving in next few days. And probably got about half the MS pieces sorted. Just some expensive doors/windows/etc to go... yikes!
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,729
I am waiting for just a few more Bricklink orders to complete my Red Grocer (green didn't fit my budget) and then I need to finalize my Cafe Corner planning as it will also be revised for affordability as well as filling out the interior.

I've just finished the Fire Brigade, wow it took me all up 13 hours to build this. But it was brilliant, I love the little bat in the belfry lol.

^^ This is what comes next. The end of the crane arm was about 9-10 feet off the ground.

Picked up some spiderman polys at TRU and they had the #70814 Contstructo-mech so I'm about to start building that!

A minifigure scale 2 stroke ship engine. Actually has moving pistons, camshaft, rods, rocker arms, and valves. Also sounds just like an engine :D Got to move the engine higher one plate so those black posts sit under the floor.

I finished my City Garage #4207 last night, it was fun, now to load it up with some extra cars...
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I've been working on cars what will eventually be my modular/train layout once I get it going again. Been building the Cars from the Amazing Vehicles books in LDD then color changing them to colors available in the parts used. Still have 5 or 6 of the models to go.

  • bluedragonbluedragon Member Posts: 506
^Those look great. Does the book come with instructions or did you work them out?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ The books are instructions. Two books, 10 vehicles in each. All made from the parts of set #5867. Some of them probably could have been done a little better if parts out side the set are used and in a couple of the models I changed a few parts around to use more basic bricks in place of things he used because it was what was available. For example 1x1 plate with clip are sometimes just used as a 1x1 with the clip pointing in a direction that gets covered up inside the vehicle so I replaced a few with 1x1 or 1x2 plates.

Just finished putting together the Harry Potter and Helms Deep board games, gotta say if anyone likes micro scale building these games are definately worth while...work as modules so easy to use elements as bases and include lots of useful parts for minibuilds.

Just finished my diorama, with a little help from some well known websites (although I didn't realise how addictive it was!) and my 7 year old, and I guess that only AFOLs of a certain age would understand the Kelly's Heroes angle on it!

Love the swamp monster lol. Do the cars come with the modular sets, or are they extra ones you added? I wanted to put vehicles with my buildings but I wasn't sure of the size of them.
Looks good in red, well done.

^The sand green car is a modified version of the one from the Vampyre Castle. I added chrome sidepipes and front grill and removed the net launcher from the back and made it into a normal looking car. The black truck is a reworking of the Brick Friday model from last year.

I think the Palace Cinema has a car and the fire brigade has the firetruck but those would be the only two that come with vehicles. I think most City vehicles work fine.

Building the Town hall. I built the ground floor yesterday and I'm very impressed. I has some great features and this thing is huge already without the other floors!

I really like how the red grocer looks...goes well right beside the fire brigade building.

OK, I really dig the sand green corvette stingray you made from that monster fighters set. Never thought it looked like a stingray till seeing yours. I think I might just borrow that idea. ;)

Just finished building #7784 UCS Batmobile. Pretty cool set but parts of it seem a little unstable while building it. And the instructions are some of the hardest I've ever had to build from. All that black and not enough contrast, like looking at some of the poor scans in PDF.

@JamesJT, you built a Space Shuttle from the Cargo Plane without needing any extra parts? You turned a 2-in-1 build into a 3-in-1? And a Canada arm, too?

    Chapeau, sir, chapeau.

Just finished building #76022 X-Men vs. the Sentinel, and I have to say I'm delightedly impressed. Given some of the less-than-happy comments on this design I've read (mostly on other sites) ever since the set was announced, I'd half-convinced myself that I only wanted it for the minifigs - which are, BTW, excellent - in order to maintain my "complete" Marvel minifig collection.

Since I had the house to myself tonight, however, I thought I'd at least build the Sentinel - and found it to be much sturdier and better than the box pictures implied. I then moved on to the X-Jet - which I absolutely adore. It's solid, it's reassuringly heavy, it's swooshable, it's got a great range of play features, it's bigger than I imagined, and I am in love with the construction of the jet engines in particular. Since the stickers don't add too much necessary detail - and I don't like adding stickers anyway - it looks perfectly fine without them, which inspires me to buy another set when I have the money and use the jet as a more comic-booky replacement for the Avengers' Quinjet (I missed out on that set at the time, getting the minifigs by other means, which I very much regret now).

Having an extra Sentinel wouldn't be a bad thing, either! :-)

^I was a little disappointed when I saw the sentinel with that and it wasn't one of the ridiculous giant mini figure ones from the Lego Marvel video game, but that was never going to happen so wasn't massively disappointed.
I do really want that set for the sentinel and minifigs, when i see it at a good price point (probably closer to the £30 mark) I'm definitely going to get it.

@carlq I built the #76022 X-Men vs. the Sentinel set last week and I agree that it is unfairly criticized. I would have loved a Blackbird on par with the Quinjet and a Sentinel the size of the Power Armor Lex mech, but the set packs a lot for the price.

The jet looks much better in person and even the shape of the sentinel head, which I initially disliked, looks better too. Once you add in the minifigs, it's a steal.
