I remember when they started using jumpers to create 5-wide cabs of semi trucks, and my 10 year old mind was blown.
I felt EXACTLY the same with the 5-wide trucks, as well as played the h*ll out of #1896 and #6066 in my day... Thanks!
Actually, #6346 is still (partially) built in the "days of yore"-box here! :)
Now that I have one of my PAB orders, I'm working on duplicating the Hydra Stomper in #76201, but in yellow and oranges. I'm going to use the shoulder piece in #76128 (that I already have) for the head. I'm also incorporating some things from #76243. I'm adding the gatling gun and the claws and will have Rocket pilot the "Hydra Stomper". (Going to need a new name for this.) Only bought #76243 'cause it was a mech and orange and for the claw pieces (and to reach the price threshold for #40580).
Wasn't sure what parts would be in what colors so I just bought every green piece in oranges and yellow and any I couldn't find in those colors, in black and grays. Wheee! Thanks! Yeah fun so far, but will require a lot of transparent tiles. Hopefully less of an issue because we're splitting up the work
(Yeah yeah, wrong color legs for a Rebel "red shirt" but I think it still works.)
This is great! I know that LEGO intentionally designs a lot of these kinds of matches in, and that they otherwise are generally just a result of basic geometry, but for some reason it still feels like magic to me when things match up like this.
@evancelt - continue to be impressed by your artistry with bricks here. It's great to see it all from the beginning and come together!
I got about half way through what would have been "bag 1" and realized I was missing two pieces. Figured it was just me not seeing them at first as it was just all 1500+ parts in a giant pile. I decided to move to "bag 2" and come back it to. Finished Bag 2 and still no sign of the parts. So, onto "bag 3." Still nothing. I got to the first step of "bag 4" and saw two more parts that were missing.
SO...I'm a bit stumped. I know I would have checked and double checked my inventory as I was pulling parts. Either I still have a rogue bag in a box with a handful of parts, OR, my set isn't 100% complete. I have a really really hard time thinking I would have not guaranteed I had all of the parts before bagging it up.
At this point, I think my best bet is to re-inventory my parts to make sure I'm not missing a bunch of other things before moving forward. Certainly not the experience I was hoping to have with my first UCS set!
I'll get some pictures posted here soon of the progress I'm able to make.
Found a use for these radiation symbol printed pieces I picked up from a vendor at BrickCon last year.
