Okay, that's pretty cool, but... You don't really care for the alt-builds? Them's fightin' words... :)

Well done!  You were lucky its a very narrow build: there are very few pieces that can be hidden in a build like that!

Bar from the collecting aspect though, it doesn't quite fit with anything else from the theme.  What will you do with it?  It's too bad they didn't do some kind of early movie-theater with it: early photographs and slideshows started around that time, so it could have been built around that idea.

I'm planning on printing out a photo (perhaps this poster) and putting it in a 6x8 cardboard picture frame within the LEGO frame to include with my convention display.

And while I do agree, the thing itself as a whole doesn't "fit" in the theme, I feel like the design aesthetics of it does actually fit in-theme quite nicely. The totems are spot on for any of the Native American sets. And I love the fact that it's still all in old brown!

@560Heliport I wondered what set those heads went with. Like the set better with the engines added👍

@Lo1sJess Thanks! I initially added 20 rockets, but that was... excessively ridiculous. ;)

@560Heliport  20 rockets seems like something Tim the toolman Taylor would have definitely done probably to a lawnmower😁

Just starting #71044 Disney Train and Station. Still have my table and track set up from my WV, so I figured it's a good time to build a train. It also has a Powered Up hub that I need for my Haunted House. So I'll probably run the train for a couple weeks and then steal the hub, leaving the train setup but stationary.

Ballasted some more track for my Thomas display this weekend. Only one more curve segment to go!

I love the "wood grain" tiles. I had considered it for my winter village, but decided to just run with standard tiles. However, I think for a Thomas layout, it is PERFECT!

I need to fully ballast my curves this year as it really does complete the look.

I’ve been having a blast building some of my childhood sets this week, and shocked to see most the pieces are still in the big ol bin mom kept them in. But I’m hoping someone can answer a question: Did LEGO switch back and forth between the cannon that shoots and the one that doesn’t? For example, 6279 skull island and this set, 6265, show the shooting cannon, but I know we got these sets new, and all I have is the other non shooting cannon for both sets. Very confusing.

@tfranklin84 Lego did offer shooting cannons in U.S. sets at first but someone lost an eye and Lego got sued so they stopped putting shooting cannons in U.S. sets. They did come back in the last wave of pirates from a few years ago.

Hence the ubiquitous icons in modern instructions that say don't shoot your eye out, kid.

To further clarify my own question, it seems LEGO only used the shooting cannons for the first wave of sets in 1989, so my set 6265, which came out in 1989, must have been a later printing. Now I know why I don’t have the shooting cannons in any of my sets. Was starting to go crazy looking for them.

@oldtodd33 @iwybs I wondered about the instructions given the cannons we have don’t do anything.  Of course most of the sets we had were used so I assumed we were missing something somehow.

Some of the very first wave of Pirates sets released in the US did certainly have the firing cannons. I know for a fact that my copies of #6276 and #6274 did. However they very quickly swapped over to including the interim non-firing cannons (the ones with the black pull handles that are static) within the first year and then over to the more ubiquitous one-piece non-firing cannons that were then used throughout the rest of the 90s in the US. So depending on when and where - with full realization that there was a significant overlap of the available cannons - the sets were bought, any one of the three could have been the "correct" version for your original set.

Thanks @Switchfoot55 saw a similiar basket in white used for Easter on Pinterest.  I wanted something big enough to hold both bouquets and the smaller sets.

Found my childhood cannons when I was back home at Thanksgiving, all non-shooting!

IIRC,  those 1990s sound elements were not very loud, and the red motors were, so yours might be perfectly fine!
I just looked up the sound element on BL and learned that they let you play the sounds!
Sorry for the 7 wk old bump, but I find that a cool BL feature...however there's a sound brick from a house set that has a doorbell ring immediately followed by a barking dog. The option to hear it isnt on BL anymore 🤷‍♂️& I find that odd...were ppl using the barking dog noise for nefarious purposes?

Finally finished the Technic I started like 4-5 years ago.  I didn't like building the arm as much because the pneumatic tubes hurt my thumbnail skin trying to squeeze them in place.

I've bought a few large Technic sets, but that was the only one I *really liked* (I'm not much of a Technic person). The functions are fairly well engineered and easy to follow, it's got a good amount of bodywork so it looks good but the bodywork doesn't obscure the mechanisms, it's got a nice modular build, and it has (as one review said) "more functions than you can shake a Bohrok at." (Power Functions and pneumatics!) I think this is a "white whale" for many Technic fans - congratulations on finishing it!

I stopped building it because I was on vacation and didn't want to lose pieces.  Once I got started on it again I built it fairly fast.  It definitely does have a lot of cool power functions and I like it because any other Technic vehicles I build can dump their bricks in there.

Did a little light rework on #31126 to make it closer to the Boeing X-32 it already resembles--pic later. (Frankly, IMO this Lego "JSF-ish" looks better than the real plane!) Star Citizen nerds might also be reminded of the game's Aegis Avenger...

I have that set hanging on the wall, using the classic spaceman image! My first Art set, it's what got me hooked on getting more!

I don't know why, but seeing all of those tiles sorted and ready to ART! has made me sad again about the absolute giant miss that was the world map. They should have done a shaded 3d relief type or AT LEAST have land be colors other than white -- tan for desert, white for snowy mountains, greens for forests and plains, etc.

No extra parts needed, even had leftovers! Next problem, enlarging it to minifig size...

While luke is trying to build bag 2 of #75330 using just the force....

...I'm left pondering the build techniques involved in bag 3....

....and why there is a bag of small 1x1 tiles in a bag that has nothing but loads of the same part in it.

My fingers are aching at the thought of these already.

Update.... I take it all back and stand corrected.
There were 39 1x1 plates in the small bag of tiles that was in the large bag of tiles.
PITA to place but it does look nice.
