Thanks for the tips @Lo1sJess ! If clay fails I'll definitely give this method another try - I rushed through this one during kid naps, but I think spending more time on the drilling and sanding process would be key in a good outcome - could even make different emotion faces!

I am working on a historical train MOC that is 15 MILS BP in size. It's based around an early Stevenson's Rocket train which will be good for train shows, but I'm also making a Thomas train so that I can use that same display as Sodor for pop culture conventions that have fewer train nerds :)

More work on the Delorean, in-between seeing some friends and making a turkey curry!
For a stainless steel monochrome car, it's very colourful underneath!
Love the hover mode conversion method, another case of temporary bricks being removed after completing a section. In this case a pair of 2x2 yellow bricks with connector that held the lever in place until the gearing was finished.

@560Heliport really wish I'd re-collected my childhood sets from the secondary market when I see reminders like this! Sadly the only Blacktron set I still own is #6941 Battrax, such a beautiful subtheme of classic space from my childhood! The black and yellow sets were perfect for battling with my classic space navy which was mainly white and blue with some grey/transgreen thrown in for good measure!

Spent a couple more hours on the Delorean, watched BTTF at the same time to get right in the mood....
....worked in the evening, after eight (it's a mint joke!) Then this morning....
    ....loving the interior details....

Made a little progress last night on some MILS plates using big 8x16 and 10x20 bricks

All those printed 1x4 wood tiles though...! Expensive, but looks soooo good!

With yesterday's acquisition of the Vidiyo Folk Fairy BeatBox, I have six lime green 2x2 macaroni tiles, so I fixed one side of my AT-TE. The vibrant yellow makes lime green look dull!

#6876 was one of my favorite sets as a kid.  The classic space at-at.

Final morning building while waiting for my washing machine engineer to turn up and finally fix it after a 42 day wait!
Love that huge windscreen piece, nice to see it came with a film cover and in a bag to protect it too.
Doors in place, might have to work out a mod to keep them open. Although I had a drive in a Delorean years ago, it was a case of don't meet your hero's! The door drooped and I smacked my head getting in. The example I drove had the dreadful 3spd auto box, the Renault V6 is woefully under powered. That's why they squeezed a V8 in the back for the sequels, so they actually had some grunt for the stunts!
And finished. Built as the original film car from the final scenes. I love it, ultimately it will become the second film car in hover mode. Changing the rear numberplate from OUTATIME to the futuristic one involved stripping the rear end apart to remove the plate holder. Might build Benbuildslego's BTTF skyline to display with it.

@Speedman29 I feel your pain about the broken washing machine.  We went through the same thing earlier this year.  Guy came, had to order parts & get approval from warranty company.  Came to install parts and broke something else.  Had to wait on approval from warranty company again for more parts.  Confusion ensued when left hand condemned machine for good and right hand approved repairs.  Finally was fixed after about a month and a half and many trips to the local laundromat.

Finished #10235, though, I can't say I remember a rocking carousel. I only remember round and round, up and down.

Rocking on a horse on a carousel seems familiar- unless I'm remembering some other ride. It would have been 50 years ago, after all!

When I was a kid, there was a span of time when I had only six of this jet/rocket engine piece- two white, two red, and two grey. I wanted more! Well, eventually I got more. Even so, in recent years when the PAB had them, I'd get a dozen. A few months ago, I counted them: 84! I gave a dozen to my cousin's 9- and 7-year-old kids (in a 2 1/2 gallon/10 liter canister full of pieces). So I have 72 now. So I decided to put them to use- Blacktron will be uncatchable now!

So I decided to stay indoors to build: so, of course, now the sun is out and it looks beautiful outside. Oh well, here's my progress so far:

I'm completely satisfied with all of these sets. The otter habitat feels like a lot for just ten dollars: two otters, frog, and fish, and both ATV and terrain are fairly substantial.
The white rabbit is delightful! The alternate builds look great too.
    Tusken Raider is awesome.
The Clone Troopers are standing on cool yellow 1x3 plates from PaB- or are they skiing?
I used a black Sharpie on the visor.

I'm starting #40580 Blacktron Cruiser. The box uses tape seals- so it'll be a lot easier to keep the box looking nice, compared to the thumb-punch style.

    There's a simple answer to the thumb-punch...

Gibbs Rule #9: Never go anywhere without a knife.

Three careful slits to cut the glue joints and you're in... :)

Oh, I carry a Leatherman multitool... but two strips of tape is stll easier.

@PJ76uk I agree about #10497. It's beautiful, but if you try to build anything else, you'll have a lot of little pieces left over.
I think my only criticism of #40580 is that I think they should have used yellow plates under the 1x2 trans-red tiles.

Seeing the two side by side... well, the new version is too sleek, too slick, lacks the clunky chunky quirky charm of the original. Back half looks pretty solid to the original, but the cockpit module and wings are where it loses the original's character.

@560Heliport So do I, plus two 2" folders, two flashlights and enough crap to give Batman a backache. LOL

The 3 Thomas face techniques I tried (stickers, drilling out eyes, clay):

    Glued them to 4x4 tiles:

Started building Lunar New Year Ice Festival this afternoon. I never appreciate how large some of these sets are. I had a spot in mind in my winter village, which I’ll take down next weekend, but I’m going to have to pack up a few smaller sets before then just for space.

@evancelt I really love how you've captured all of Thomas' expressions in the clay faces. It brings back memories of watching the show with my grandson.

#71786 Zane's Ice Dragon Creature. It's bigger than I pictured. (Emilie approves- apparently the tail tastes good...)

The opponents: Bone King, Bone Knight, abd Bone Warrior. Their bone weapons are one of those bagged packs that means you usually have extras, and I also got an extra Spring Yellowish Green lower jaw, so I put it on Bone King.
The paper instructions do include instructions for the alternate build pictured on the back of the box.

I think your right, trans red on black just looks too dull compared to the original. It would be an easy fix though from the stash - will keep in mind for my second copy of #40580 as I tend to display as Lego originally intended!

Today I have been mostly building #42134 Monster Jam Megaladon which was a Christmas gift from Mrs Gibbo. Transpires it’s only my second Technic set, the other being #42021 Snowmobile which I recall buying as something to build while stuck in a hotel on a work trip some years ago. That obviously didn’t covert me to the theme but this was fun to put together. How the designers work out everything is going to fit together is beyond me!

Unstickered because I mostly bought it for the parts (then gave to MrsB to wrap up as a “surprise” Christmas present). Was hoping to learn something different from Ninjago mech building but I guess there’s nowt left from the old ccbs days other than the shells.
