Definitely keep it @WesterBricks! Anything Model Team is worth holding onto in my opinion.
  • WesterBricksWesterBricks Member Posts: 956
^ agreed, but I already have the reissue so now I have to decide which one to sell. Tough decision indeed. I have a dedicated Model Team display shelf that is already full.

Looks good and so do your surroundings - enjoy your trip.

been on pain meds so I haven’t done much building, did raid the HP advent calendar to do small bits.  It was okay but not much new if you have already bought some of this years sets.  I also got Santa’s Sleigh (my lovely sister has made runs to the store and I have 2 bags of things waiting to be built) and it is a good build and very nice looking model.

Done! So.. .who's going to build six and put them together to have the whole pizza?
How many of those parts are stickered vs printed vs reflecting leaves?
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,239
The three big 8x8 round plates are printed, as are the 1x2 curved slopes that are the eyes on the quadruped Deviant and the head of the other. More than 30 stickers- 27 numbered, but with multiples of a few. I forgot to bring tweezers, so I used the brick separator- bend the sheet enough to get part of the sticker free, then put the blade of the separator under, then transfer it to the part.

#10293 makes a nice addition to the progressing Christmas display.

Fantastic little build, really enjoyed putting it together.

What does “we’re end up ‘shipping” mean?
  • MaffyDMaffyD Member Posts: 3,575
What does “we’re end up ‘shipping” mean?
I think @autolycus meant "we'd end up shipping" and 'shipping' means 'imagining a relationship' or 'discovering a relationship'.

So in the whole sentence could read "I didn't think we would end up imagining a relationship between a Brickset user and a TLM set, but here we are..."

Shipping is odd. And as a Star Trek fan, I should know.

MaffyD got it right. Typo on “we’d” and “Shipping” is a thing mostly in tv fandom where fans hope 2 characters end up in a romantic relationship. Obviously it’s also a really bad dad joke pun here, considering it involves the Sea Cow.

I have that one as well @KungFuKenny and it's definitely a fun one. That Spyrius ship is actually a really cool design IMO. I somehow managed to get this one with the box and the alt builds are wacky!

Yoda decided to take a swan dive off the shelf, so this afternoon I brewed up a pot of coffee and got to work putting him back together again…

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t do it, but @KungFuKenny could! Well done!

The set is nothing special, but I found most of #7900 in a bulk lot recently. I picked up the missing girders on eBay (the actual ones, interestingly enough*) and it’s back to it’s former glory.

    * I found an ad for a yard sale last month and asked the seller if I could buy all of her Lego. She sold one tub before I got there but I got the rest. I could tell I was missing parts like three of these girders, and I had small but significant portions of a few other sets, so I put up an ad proposing a trade. Fast forward to a few days ago, I came across three girders on eBay, from a seller less than two hours away. I checked their sold items, and sure enough, there are the rest of the sets from the yard sale, sold incomplete because I have their missing parts. Shame they missed my ad, they would have gotten the better end of the trade.

Hadn't quite realised how big this was, glad I had a bit of space left in the double-width Billy.

I'm in the same boat. Watched the Ghostbusters films last weekend while making the Ecto-1 (without the rust stickers, same as yours). Now it's sitting on my kitchen table.
I have to get a new Billy bookcase soon with all the sets from the last couple of years just built and put in cardboard boxes for now.

After #4543 was RSOTD a little while back, I ordered parts to build my own flatbed car, and then I decided it needed the backhoe too. I’m just waiting on a shipment of wagon panels to arrive from Belgium, so it may take a while.

Do you by any chance have the 1989 Batmobile? If so, how does the size of Ecto-1 compare to it?
  • TheOriginalSimonBTheOriginalSimonB Member Posts: 1,793
@autolycus Afraid not. I would like it, but am saving my batcash in the hopes of a large ‘60s one some day.

I have them both and they are both huge but I'm not at home to take a picture.

The Brothers Brick review have comparison photos on their Ecto 1 review, like this one: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/media.brothers-brick.com/2020/10/LEGO-Ghostbusters-10274-ECTO1-63-LX7UI-1024x768.jpg

Perfect! Thanks! I have the Batmobile, and even though I knew it was big, my jaw dropped when pulled the tires out of the box and my brain really started understanding HOW big. I'm glad the Ecto-1 is a little smaller. That Batmobile takes up quite a lot of shelf space!

I snagged this lovely set “New Old Stock” from 2011 on eBay. Bag 1 was open and missing a dozen common parts. Bags 2 and 3 were sealed, and the instructions and stickers were all here. Someone started building and gave up at step 18.

@GrannyLEGO It's a great idea for building and also perfect for displaying builds with an open back like #10293. For Santa's Visit I'd want one in white!

@Cymbeline I hadn't even thought about the display possibilities yet beyond using it over the month of the Advent Calendar! I seemed to get the best results looking for "TV Turntable" as using just turntable got me too many with edges for keeping cans in your cupboard and such.

That turntable will definitely come in handy when you need to move it. I’m always afraid of the integrity of the 32x32 baseplates once they have the weight of a tall structure on them.

I always slide my modulars about 1/3-1/2 off the shelf and then put one hand flush under the center of it to support the weight. The other hand is mostly just guiding side to side and tilting so I have control of the set while moving. Weight is all the one hand underneath though.

Factory sealed, this set comes in 24 numbered bags, easy peasy.

Secondhand, it came in three big freezer bags.

It’s like a giant evil puzzle.
