    This is something along the line of Star wars and Architecture. It is one of the towering spires of Coruscant. Might be kind of weird but it was fun building it :-)

    I've spent the evening building a pannier tank engine.

    it doesn't run, as I haven't put an IR receiver or battery box inside it, but there are 'dummy' ones in there which I built out of bricks so I had something to work around.

    It's sat on top of the PF train motor (I removed my Constitution tender from the motor temporarily) to see if it would sit on it well, which I think it does. In the second photo you can see how it's meant to sit on it, and how most of the body is basically built onto the (dummy) battery box.

    There should be enough space for all the wires...

    What do you think? Can you see any potential issues or problems?

    I have been thinking about purchasing the first couple of Winter Village sets I don't currently have to display this year for Christmas. My wife actually said yes when I mentioned it so...woohoo! My daughter overheard the conversation and said we should use her Christmas set. Hmmm, I don't recall her having one I thought. She brought it to me last night and I was shocked that I had forgotten I gave her the set back in 2009 when it was released.

    So excited that I built it today. She had it broken down in larger chunks which sometimes can make it a bit tougher to rebuild if you weren't the original builder but I had fun regardless.

    One down, 4 to go...

    ^ Over the last couple nights I built Post Office and Bakery for the first time. Need to rebuild Toy Shop and then do Cottage so I can make my Christmas card for this year.

    Just ordered this from amazon.uk since it was on sale. They have a built display at TRU and it is pretty impressive.

    @graphite We finished #42000 this morning, it's a great build. It was on sale at TRU, $10 US below RRP, plus another $10 off our purchase over $100. Hubby decided he wanted it after seeing it on display also.

    ^ Nice. I've learned to wait on Technic stuff to see if amazon UK puts it on sale. Their prices are always lower even after shipping than I've seen Technic on sale anywhere else. Got the rescue helicopter last year for I think $82 shipped.

    started #41999 this morning, about halfway through, grabbed a pair of $10 #60016 at TRU & threw one together minus stickers in about 15 mins... that will get parted, other i'm hoping the lug decides to draft

    Re-building #42009 - Apparently the gearing was incorrect as the stabilizers would not go down.

    Since its birthday week for my 10 year old, so watched my wife and son build the #76000 then watched them build the #76005, Oh and while watching I finally started to build the #7965 my first ever Star Wars set on such a scale :D

    Just finished 41999 gonna start the winter village collection and should finish just in time to order the new winter village set on bf and get the free Xmas set to have the whole village completed by early December.

    My second black gate arrived today. So I will build that tonight to add to the first. Hmmm...I think it needs four black gates combined to do it justice though...

    ^ Thanks. You just reminded me that I forgot to add the gas handle with string part to my wanted list since that didn't seem to be in LDD.

    We are rebuilding our #8110 Unimog to see if we can get it working. Latest nemisis . . . Lego gears!

    Just plates? I'd have to look. The total piece count is in the 4500 range and 1022 of that is 1x2 orange plates. It is a 32x32 baseplate plus a 8x32 on the one side. I'm planning on doing a 24x32 building to go next to it to even it out to multiples of 16. The first floor is two modular pieces but the 2nd 3rd and roof are all one piece.

    Wow that Modular Gas Station looks really good! Over 1000 1x2 orange plates though?! Blimey...

    Just about to start on the #10222 Winter Village Post Office. The box arrived last week and I've been counting the days until I had time to crack it open.

    I built the #10221 a while ago, but I had to move it from an eye level shelf to one that stands at 6'5". Was not happy with the visual of mostly the boring bottom part. With the help a few few plates, I modified the stand for a much better view "from the ground".

    I'm pretty certain Smaug is red in the movie, but nice build regardless.

    ^ It may have just been the lighting that made him appear dark then :-) You could probably replicate it with the colours reversed, but a few crucial parts like the wing blades don't yet exist in red ;-)

    Think I'll try scrutinising the trailer again :-)

    Built the #7965 Millennium Falcon at the weekend. I always thought this was overpriced with an RRP here usually around 159 euro but then I saw the Argos sale and actually picked it up for 80 euro (reduced price then a further 25% off!). It's a nice model but for me it was about the Darth Vader and Princess Leia figures. My 4 yr old son then had a great time fighting with his 2yr old sister over who got to play with Obi-Wan and it got me to wondering when is the right time to let your kid watch Star Wars for the first time. C3PO and R2D2 are missing but I have those elsewhere - will have to dig them out.

    Fun building.
    EDIT: and let's not forget Chewie...in Star Wars heaven.

    Finally decided I want a Pong minifig in my collection despite being a CW one so I opened a #75004. Dismissed the set as uninteresting before but the built set looks great and is bigger than I've expected. Picturest don't do this one justice.
