KLOKRIECHER said: That is a great playset... I'm a big fan of Mark Stafford, and this set, along with #7066 and #5974 are at the top of my favorites list...
Is packing a ton of extra black 1x2 plates a known thing? Is there some secret step in the instructions that I missed? I'm stumped.
Thanks!
Lego should really do a new department store, but I fear it would be too small, given the amount of detail now put into modulars, or very expensive. I'd pay £200 or so for a really good, new modular store though.
Space Champions.
As always, more angles on Flickr.
Fire Brigade had a lot of the dark red tiles break on me when I was trying to attach them to the front of the building. Had to order replacements and fortunately those went on without breaking.
Grand Emporium had some dark red 1x1 tiles as a decorative tabletop...and three of them broke on me...and the set only had 2 spares. I'll have to get another replacement.
Now I'm building Pet Shop. I'm only done with the first floor of one of the buildings, but have already noticed that the woman minifig has legs that won't bend anymore. I'm afraid that if I force them, they'll snap...because they're dark red! Also, the brown bricks for the walls seem really stiff and make a CRACK sound when I snap them on. I'm not seeing any broken pieces or even any hairline fractures, but the sound is quite worrisome! Looking forward to the rest of the build, but also dreading more dark red or brown bricks.
I'll be glad when I get past this era with brittle bricks.
I finished building #6983 Ice Station Odyssey today...
My son is currently 2. When he gets of age to go down into the basement to play, I'll have to set some "Man Upstairs" style rules not to disassemble certain sets.
Still working on some of the interior design of Meadowbank, one of my personal favorite projects. (It's a modified Arkham Asylum (10937) with a very complicated backstory).
Lord and Lady Vampyre (from the Haunted House set) turned their mansion into a bed and breakfast back in 2014. Then it combined with the Town Hall to become a hotel for several years, which was eventually taken apart to build other MOCs. The three vampires, who go by the name Le Comte de la Roche and his wife and her sister (named Bob, Linda, and Gayle appropriately) moved into the apartment over the Green Grocer. They tried for years to obtain the large tan mansion but were never quite successful.
Eventually they outbid a local history museum for the property of the old Haverbrook Asylum, and turned it into Meadowbank, an exclusive boarding school for the non-human or specially powered residents of my LEGO world. Currently, it has five students: a faun, a gargoyle, a girl who can fly, a guy who can turn invisible, and an elf.
But despite its charming boarding school atmosphere (which only extends as deep as the crown moulding) Meadowbank may yet hold some dark secrets...
It was great fun to put together and looks great when finished.
My only complaint is that the sails are sooooo easy to knock out of alignment from where you want them to be.
Don't complain to the Captain though or you end up walking the plank.
It was a super fun build, albeit fairly quick. It fits in nicely among it's counterparts. I still have R2-D2 and Grogu on the to-do list. Still on the fence for the K-2SO project as well, but thinking I'll be jumping down that rabbit hole fairly soon.
Thank you for your cooperation :)
Pleasantly surprised with what the designer was able to accomplish with a smaller model. I added a few slopes here and there. Great build!
