I released a new build video on YouTube last week for this LEGO Micro Fire Truck! Let me know what you think, appreciate all the support: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaS-rBFeJMk&t
I've been watching it on eBay for quite a while. I'm just going to have to pull the trigger one of these days.
If they could remove the studs on the side they would be great column pieces.
As I'm still working my way through my back log, I've been grabbing sets and building as they come off the pile.
First Up was #75187
I like the droid in the films but there was something too symmetrical about how the set was designed that didn't look right (having the head directly above the orange ring was my main bug bear) but after building it and seeing what went on inside to get the functions to work, I appreciate why this was the easiest way to build it. It still niggles but I can live with it for now.
Next up was a trip down to Bedrock with #21316
Great little build and a nice display piece, agree with some others that they missed a trick with not doing moulded heads though.
It was then onto #10220.
Have no real interest in VW campers but thought it looked interesting to build & I wasn't disappointed. Probably one of my favourite building experiences so far and the finished product looks far better in the flesh than any pictures I've seen of it. If you enjoy building and you haven't got this yet, go get it, it's well worth it.
Took a turn to the Batman Legoverse next with #70915
What was with the size of the box from this set? Seriously, you could have got twice (possibly three times) the amount of bricks in the box. I was expecting the set to be bigger but there is sooo much wasted empty space in the box which made the size of the final build a bit disappointing.
Apart from that, I really enjoyed this one. The loading shovel build is especially good considering the small amount of parts used but I would have honestly liked the whole set so much more if the parts used on the Bat-Bike (which isn't all that good IMO) were used for something else like stuff for the shovel to smash.
Back off to my favorite galaxy next with #75248
Quite a simplistic build but a beautiful colour scheme which really pops. Might have a go at building Jerac's T-65 X-wing in a similar colour scheme as Corran Horn's Corsec issue X-wing (Legends book 'I, Jedi' for anyone that hasn't heard of him).
Finally, staying with the Star Wars galaxy, I built #75255
First up, yes the eyes look weird and it makes it look sort of like a gremlin but I honestly don't know how it could have been done differently.
Apart from that, the finished product looks great and the shaping of the cloak, head and hands is spot on considering the medium.
It's not the most engaging of builds as for the most part it's just plate stacking assemblies to attach to the centre frame but if it's spread out over a few nights and not rushed in one go it's quite enjoyable watching it come together.
Still got a backlog of builds, including UCS Falcon and Stranger Things house, but the current builds I have on go are easier to display.
