I hate to use the term "epic" but that's really the most applicable adjective. Shown with an 8 pound domestic short hair cat for reference.
Cat
Futon
Yoga Ball
Bouncy Seat?!?!
5 Gallon Paint Bucket
You gotta get that Stealth Flyer in the air!!!!
And a Carousel.
Love the Futron Space minifigure display. One of those is on my list as well.
Also started displaying my Technic collection, starting with my 1st sets from 1978 (pics unavailable) back when they were known as Expert Builder
Approx. 10 sets left to add.
Wish I'd held on to my childhood classic space from the 80s, as an AFOL I have only managed to get my hands on #918 and #6980 but then again trying to collect all classic space might be a slippery slope I don't want to go down! You have a very impressive layout and look forward to seeing it completed.
If you take a close look at the 32x32 baseplate, an experienced eye could tell what set it will be...but I'm not telling ;)
I enjoyed the build and it has certainly got my excitement levels for Endgame to go up a notch or two! The model itself is great, quite different to previous incarnations and definitely jumps straight in at number 2 on my list of favourite minifig scale Quinjets!
1) #6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle
2) #76126 Avengers Ultimate Quinjet
3) #76032 The Avengers Quinjet City Chase
4) #76051 Super Hero Airport Battle
5) #76127 Captain Marvel and The Skrull Attack
On to Phase Two: place an already-built Falcon that I am fortunate enough to have access to into the docking bay, make sure it fits through the gate (should have about an inch clearance on either side) , then place the landing stripes.
(Holds in Jedi, keeps out dust.)
Functional tiled flooring throughout. Not sure the waiting clients are keeping their pets under control though.
Also switched the 2x1 brick with hole and 2x1 plate in the wall so fish is now right way up.
Now just need to collect the rest of the Endgame sets, preferably before Thursday when I head to the cinema!
Total cost approx EUR 50. BL might have been cheaper, but with Left/Right Plate 4X6 (elements 6258209 and 6258214) new in this set (and the just released Tie Fighter), B&P was the only place with those parts available when I checked.
@Briking I agree this feels like a step back from the most recent modulars - open stairs is a poor design but the restricted building footprint probably doesn't allow for more walls to enclose it. Upper floors built out over the forecourt would have worked better.
Top floor to follow when I get a spare evening.
Got in the mood for Endgame's midnight premiere later (very hyped) by finally modding these two together into something I'm happy with. Both great sets, but were crying out to be combined.
Great little build, excellent minifigures (Ivy is one of the best from the range), fun to put together and a good end product when finished.
No complaints at all really......well..... maybe just one.
What the hell is going on with the truly fricken horrible to apply, where did that speck of dust come from, crap that isn't quite straight and peeling it off is going to mark it, transparent onto clear and black pieces of a sticker sheet.
I don't care what anyone else thinks, those things are shite.
Apart from that little crinkle to my sanity, top marks for a very well designed set. :)
Inspired by the new one, obviously - although more in the sense that the new one looks good, but (to my eyes, anyway) not that much better than the old one, more a rebuild of the same thing just with improvements here and there. Which got me thinking I could save AU$350 by just improving the one I had. It's a way short of 'just like the new one' in a bunch of places - especially the lack of interior space in the body, I kept it vertically narrow by moving the Technic spine inside that area rather than having it beneath the floor - but I'm pretty happy with it.
The angled panels at the mid-rear were a major goal for the build - I never liked the original design's use of tailfins to suggest those (the new one using the same design was part of what convinced me to make my own 'new' ship). Ended up picking up one of those Minecraft figures for the four ball joints (I know I've got them in the storage bins somewhere, but very few, it would've been so much searching), and the panels themselves use old Space wing plates, with the notch at the corners, since they have a slightly wider angle than new wings and fill the area a little better. And since I had the thing spread all over the table anyway, I took the chance to add a nice thick coat of white paint to the inside of the printed clear pieces on the hammerhead (avoiding the windows, obviously) - they're still a colder white than the rest of the ship (especially with it starting to show its age by taking on a bit of a cream tinge) but it's at least a nice strong white, rather than the slightly shadowy surface the one-sided print gave.
This is amazing!
I can image a bunch of LOTR fans are having a heart attack over that sentence. I personally know people that would be shouting "That isn't canon!!!" at their screens.
