when building the UCS Y-Wing, I noticed the reactors used studs on all sides as well as 45° angles. yet that was pretty easy to build.

I've finally started building the Build Better Bricks Oliphant and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's already looking really impressive in size and the build has been interesting as well. At its simplest, it's a very large mech / constraction figure:

Again, apologies for a very quick snap with a cluttered background. I'll try to find a few minutes to take a better pic.

You can see the scale of it though. It's impressive in size. I think whoever made the MOC has managed to capture the overall look of the creature really well and it's an excellent building experience. I especially like the head and the way he has captured the four tusks and trunk.

The only criticism that I have of it is that the legs cannot be posed much, due to the weight of the model, which caused the shoulder and hip joints to collapse, if they're posed far away from vertical. This is entirely down to the lack of friction in the Technic joints.

Other than that, I'd heartily recommend it, it's a brilliant model! I just need to dig out some LoTR minifigs to pose with it.

That is a shame to hear about the legs, was hoping to be able to get a good action pose. The size certainly looks more substantial than I was anticipating!

Are you going to try to recreate the Haradrim minifigs that B3 used in their promo photos?

2/3 thru this beast, Silver Champion. Just installed the seat tonight. I only have time to do little bit here & there. Presently 2 ft (60cm) long.

Also, recommended age is 11 & up which I strongly disagree with. Highly challenging build.

Yes they're "damped", they SLOWLY return to their extended position. My educated guess is they'll aid in raising a section of exterior to expose the engine. I also have set #8445 Indy Storm which employs a single damped absorber (same piece) to do the same.

The review of the Porg on Brothers Brick took the time to point out that once you finish building its body, the bricks on the inside of the neck are predominantly red, so it looks like it's been beheaded.

Also, I realized they couldn't simply edit all the puffins out for the Ach-To scenes, but did they really need to make them an actual part of the storyline?

Grandson and I built a pair of #30543 Creator Holiday trains on Sunday. Had the Angry Birds sets out all weekend. I'm really surprised how far those little catapults can fling a minifigure!

You know what they say: "when life gives you cuddly, highly marketable lemons, make lemonade!"

Honestly, I feel like for all the hate Star Wars gets any time it introduces cute aliens, it's often struck me as odd how rarely cuddly, lovable animals show up in that universe, considering how hard it is to go through real life without encountering stuff like dogs, cats, squirrels, or rabbits. I think it's nice that once in a while it introduces animals that aren't designed to be disgusting, dangerous, or monstrously huge. Though I suppose as far as "pets" are concerned, droids usually tend to take the place of those in Star Wars movies.

I was finally able to put together the new WV Fire Station last night. It was a very enjoyable build for me.

...however, my set arrived without a sticker sheet! I looked through both instruction booklets about a hundred times to make sure it wasn't stuck between pages or something random like that. 

Off to CS to resolve the issue!

I would of had no problems with the porgs being in the flim if they were just in the background. One of the many problems I have with the film(and it's a very long list) was how they were used.
