A few sets I've built over the past few days. I dismantled most of my sets when I moved house, now I get to enjoy building them again!
Then today it was decided that the cargo train needed a caboose/brakevan/little brown wagon. So we emptied lots of LEGO onto the bed and started building. We needed a motor for the Winter train over Christmas and as LEGO seemed to have zero stock and no restock dates for the £15 piece we picked up the front of the High Speed Train for £22 on eBay. This left the wheels and a few other pieces to make a chassis for the caboose and then we raided the brown pile of parts to make this.
Everyone was happy and its now attached to the back of the line.
Now on eBay picking up some more magnetic couplers and a boogie to attach to the train base and boogie that is left over from the HS train. Hopefully a new wagon will be added to the growing train for a random piece of cargo.
Last week I received my first big LEGO container for this year

and it was quite a party this weekend at my place
I especially like the party scene that you've set up too. Looks like a good way to spend a Monday. Much better than how I spent mine, at least! :)
Building time has been limited so I just started the third floor a couple days ago.
I'm hoping that I'll be able to wrap it up this upcoming weekend.
First time out of the box in two years. Nerve-racking' as ever! Getting ready for North Carolina LUG's Legopalooza this weekend at the UNC Planetarium.

The base and one boogie came from the HS train loco we bought for the motor, the rest from my unsorted pile of random pieces. Its pretty secure on there as the tail is supported on a mudguard piece. I've had to borrow a boogie from another wagon while we wait for an eBay delivery.
The other build that was requested was a car for the Fat Controller, she watches a lot of Thomas the Tank Engine and has seen the big guy driving a car on the rails to inspect things. Theres o way I can fit a motor in anything that small, so its a push along. Secret Santa bought me #75880 which I already had, but I've seen some cool MOCs based on it, so after a hunt around I got the instructions to Keep_on_bricking's Truck and modified it to suit.
All the parts with the exception of the train wheels and hinges came from the set. With two folds its up on the tracks and wheeling around, it can get across the points with no problems.
Love looking at all these pics but loading is getting difficult again. Feel free to add a hyperlink to a Flickr on the picture if you want, but please resize a bit.

I took this 2 minutes ago:
(looks great, but was absolutely crap to build!!)
Super pleased with the build. I left it on the kitchen table for my kids to see when they woke up. They were definitely surprised to see it in the morning.
Though, after looking over the entire set, my youngest looked at me with a little bit of a sad look on her face and asked,"How come we didn't get to build this one with you daddy?"
I had no answer, but I did promise that I would let them build with mo on the next set.
Finally got all the pieces to finish my Winter Train modification.
The Tree trailer has stayed much the same since the first build - it worked so why fix it? :)
The Passenger Dining Car was stretched so that I had the room to turn the tables lengthways so passengers don't have to climb over each others diner table when moving about the car (possibly taking the minifigures welfare a bit too seriously come to think of it).
The Coal Tender has been Raised and stretched so I can hide the battery box from view. I also added the front magnet piece as the hook that came with the original looked a bit naff to be honest.
And finally, this thing has been taken apart and rebuilt so many times it should know how to build itself.
But, after all the pulling apart and rebuilding, I now have a train that I'm happy with.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the 3143rd version of my Winter Train. :)
I've done that with a few sets of mine as well. I've done a few rebuilds of some of my favorite classic space sets over the past few months. The most challenging was rebuilding my Blacktron Invader. Biggest challenge was tracking down the parts. (Alot of pieces could go missing after 30 years) As luck would have it, I still had them all.
It was quite a build. Its one thing to build a set out of the bags, but its quite a different experience hunting for every piece in a Rubbermaid bin with countless other sets mixed together.
As far as the kids go, I've got plenty of project sets around the house I can build with them. I've got a dozen or so sets in reserve and I think my youngest still has one of the Lego Friends houses that was a present from Christmas still in the box. Its just a matter of finding the time to start one.
Recently I had a look at them again, and decided I liked the alternative builds of #70804, #70805 and #70811. They can compete with the best City vehicles. So now these have been added to my collection:
Then had my nieces (5 and 7) over in the weekend. They always ask if they can build something, and this weekend was no different. They choose #60181 Forest Tractor and #60150 Pizza Van, so now these are no longer in their boxes:
And the alternate builds for TLM movie sets would definitely look good going down the street of a modular building lined city street!
