When do you think Toy Story is going?

I noticed at Kmart today that all the Toy Story 3 LEGO is on clearance/out of stock. For instance, there was only one army men on patrol set left.

I thought this thread could be about TWO things:
1. Anybody else noticing this? We know TS3 is ending in 2011, but not sure when.
2. Think they'll jump in value after release? Like Batman (not as much, but maybe a good discussion).

they have been on clearance at my local walmart since late last year. I dont know if it was just not a good selling set (I bought the train but thats the only one) or what. I honestly doubt they will jump in value like batman and other series, simplly because they are everywhere cheap, of course there is no science to this and all we can do is wait and see.

The toy story train has been at below half price for most of the year on Amazon UK, I think most of the sets are just not selling well. Probably due to their high levels of juniorisation, which is also why theyre unlikley to be as popular as batman.

I just picked up Woodys roundup for £20.00 on clearance, added to the other sets Ive already got I only need the train and I'm done. The place where I got the roundup set had the train but £49 for it was too much so I got Slave 1 for £45 instead.
Since christmas all the Toy Story sets Ive picked up have been half price or less..(mind you I also paid £22 for HP the burrow).
The clearance I go to has a whole Bay of roundups and trains and a pallet of Army men.
I think Toy Story is over..

the train is great value at £35 - worth it for the figs or train spares alone.
I really like the toy story stuff - think it's great for kids getting into lego (and for me).
I'm trying to collect what I can on sale - round up for 20 is good - where was that @jazzatheshed?

Yeah I just got the train for $56 Aus so I'm stoked that under half price. I really want more army men though :D

^^^ whoa there, back up a second, the burrow for £22! You were very careful not to mention your source, afraid it will get plundered no doubt. Fancy getting me a burrow for £22 and posting it?

The Burrow was a Tesco mistake! ..It was available on line only in the 20% off offer. I ordered one and got a £22 discount and the offer ended. Then about two weeks later I was in a massive tesco in Northampton picking up Toy story stuff for about a third the normal price and they had a whole isle of reduced stuff and amongst it was the Burrow for £22!..It had a yellow reduced ticket and I reckon the staff did the 20% off and put the reduction on the ticket instead of the price! they only had the one, I took the ticket off and returned it on the original reciept for the one I already purchased.
Two weeks ago I got the Hoth Wampa set from the same store for £17.50!
Anyway the roundups are coming from an Argos clearance warehouse which is not national and has no mail order etc..you go in and get lucky..sometimes..

That may be the from the same place then, £45 in the warehouse £5.00 would be resonable postage for a big company. Never realised Argos did ebay but I suppose it makes sense.

toy story has been on the way out since xmas, been majorly discounted in Germany - army men were down to €4,99 at one point. looks like the lotso dumper and zurg are still proving hard to shift tho.

disagree with some of the posts about re-sale, these will go each and every xmas as parents look for something cool for their kids. put it this way, if army men sells at the €15 euro original retail, its a 200% return - try getting that from your savings account :-)

All I will say is that just because the Toy Story sets are discounted currently, does not necessarily mean they won't be in high demand when they're no longer available in retail. After all, Batman didn't sell well at retail and was also heavily discounted and we all know what happened there.

That's not say that I think Toy Story will be another Batman, far from it, but like @bahnstormer says, I'd be amazed if you couldn't at least resell Toy Story for the original RRP once they're no longer available at retail, so as long as you've bought at 50% discount, you should double your money.

I'd been eyeing up the argos woody's round up for a while - you've just given me the push over the edge. I think it looks great for mocing. But I plan on keeping the toy story stuff sealed for as long as possible (for my own future kids).
I'm pretty confident they'll go up in price, and I'll probably kick myself for not buying more for resale, but hey ho.
Now to find the trash compactor at the magic £25 that it was for 1 day at argos. Now at 33% off at argos - but the sale catalogue even admits they've sold it for £25 before.

I'm thinking that they will go up in price. I think so for mainly the same reason that the Batman sets did - The minifigs. They were pretty unique, and you know that most of them would never see another print. Same deal with the Toy Story minifigs. All of them are very unique and we will never see those molds again. As far as the sets, yes, there is a fair amount of juniorization in a few of them, but I predict the train, and Woody's roundup will resale for fairly high values. There is no juniorization and they have a lot of the figs.

Not to get too nerdy (we are in a LEGO forum after all) but just look back to the 2nd Toy Story. Why was Stinky Pete so insistent that they all stay together? As a complete set they are worth a lot, separate, not so much.

All I know is I hope we see those long arms and legs in future sets in other colors. :)
