I LUG NY, the LEGO Users Group of New York will be meeting at the LEGO Store in Roosevelt Field this Saturday, May 21st, 2011 at 12:00. There are about 7 of us who plan on being there and we are hoping to meet other AFOLs in the NY area who would like to join the LUG. Comment here or reach me on flickr at notenoughbricks.

Drat! I live in Bergen County, NJ, so while I'm close, I wouldn't be able to join. Also, I'm only 17. Still, it's encouraging to know there are AFOLs in the Tri-state area; I usually only hear about the big groups out West.

I know this may not be the place to ask (moderators, please tell me if I'm out of line ;) but would you happen to know of any groups in the Northern NJ area? I'm turning 18 soon, so I think I should "initiate" myself into a LEGO group somehow. After all, I've been playing with LEGO since I was 8, so I think it's time for me to get "serious" with the LEGO community.

Paul, When you turn 18 you can join the group! The group is based in NY but we have members from CT. and we also build the models for the LUG Showcase for the Paramus store.

^ Wow, thank you very much! I'll definitely consider it, although after I turn 18 in June, I'm going to Lake George to work for the entire summer. Maybe when the craziness in my life calms down, I'll get back to you on your kind offer :) On a side note, I didn't know you do the models in the LEGO outlet in Paramus; that's so cool, because I live 15 minutes from there!

I have somewhere I need to be Saturday, otherwise I would consider making the trip out. (I'm in New Jersey) Enjoy it! Also - could you give a report on some of the newer parts on the PaB wall? I've noticed some dark red recently - which surprised me.

I'll try to take an inventory of the wall. If there are dark red parts I'll walk out of the store with cups full of them!

No dark red in the Roosevelt Field mall, unfortunately.
