Hogwarts Castle

Hi
First off i have to say all the new Harry Potter Lego is great, the new train is fantastic (and great once you customise with lights and RC motor, see attachment below). The new Castle and Diagon Alley also rock. That said what i want to share is my own Hogwarts, Hogsmead, forest model built over a 12 month period using the original HP Lego from back in the day. Initially i just wanted to get a few pieces because i love the books and films and liked the tie in but once i started there was no stopping and then when i realised Lego intended some of the models to be linked, well the next step was obvious. Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment (I guess that’s the point of a forum?) This was a lot of fun to build.
Thanks

This is an overview of the model, castle, grounds and Hogsmead village. (that is the old 9V track and Express train wrapping around the model)

Close up of the castle. I did choose to keep some of Lego's orignal designs as just couldn't better them and try to blend them in with the custom elements to complete a complete castle. Some detailed internal shots are below but i decided not to inset them to the main aricle here.

the village was a lot of fun to build and the Station was the starting point setting to colour and tone for the buildings. The pub is a particular favourite.

Yeah, had a look at that and just thought wow, that’s a lot of Lego would love to see someone have a go at it, i think a lot of the newer elements from the recent sets would add a lot of good detail to the exterior of the castle, the old stuff is/was a little 'bland' (but only a small niggle). I was actually thinking of blending the modular buildings with a custom pub with the Diagon Ally and Medieval village set to try and create a whole Charing Cross Road and Diagon Ally scene as an expansion once i get the space to run a decent railway layout (that would also allow me to build a bigger modern city within the same model) but right now the dollars are a bit tight, especially for chasing modular stuff as i don't have any yet.

Just to continue with the HP building theme I mentioned in my intro thread (if you read it) that i designed a LDD Station with hidden magical platform, or my interpretation of Platform 9 and 3 quarters. The design itself took around 4 months to complete and contains 9525 elements (some of which can't be used since the upgrade to the LDD :() It is loaded to the Lego site but from memory if anyone wished to purchase this it would set them back about £1600, suffice to say any ambition i had of adding this to my HP Lego universe swiftly got on it broomstick and flew out the window. But i am proud of the design and it is to scale so all the current trains and tracks will fit/work with it.

I can't load upt the .lxf file for this but if you anyone is iterested it is on the Lego Gallary, search for stuff under the username monkey_roo.
(I do love building the HP stuff)
    Enjoy

Wow... That's AMAZING! How did you build the large castle? Did you use LDD to figure out how to build it or how?
