For Sale: LEGO Minecraft 21102 (two available)

So, I was at my local TRU and saw that they actually had this set in stock (marked up to TRU price of $39.99, of course) and thought I'd go ahead and get them for any Bricksetters that may be interested in one. Both boxes are in good shape, and I can provide pictures to anyone wanting them.

I wound up paying $42.39 apiece for them (after tax), so my offer is as follows for anyone that wants one (and I know this won't be nearly as attractive as getting one at Amazon, or even at normal retail, and for that I apologize) - $42.39+actual cost of shipping+the 2.9% of the total that PayPal will charge me on the transaction. For most people, this is probably going to work out to be right around $50 (unless you're out on the west coast, in which case shipping is probably going to be too prohibitive). The mailing ZIP would be 47305 and the package weight would be 1 lb. 6 oz. for anyone wanting to calculate postage over at USPS.com (and for any option where it's available, you can go by the online price). Additionally, for anyone who may need this right away, I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, and unable to mail them out until Monday.

If anyone absolutely WANTS to, I'd also be willing to trade one for two Uruk-Hai Army sets, so long as they're in very good condition and 100% complete, which could be a great deal if anyone happened to pick them up when they were heavily discounted, but probably not otherwise.

Lastly, I'd really prefer to sell these to two people who actually want the set, as that was my goal when I picked them up. That said, I'm running with the honor system on that point. If you want to say the set is for your personal use and then turn around and sell it, I'll probably never know anyway.

Also, in line with the 'personal use' goal, please don't offer to buy both of them yourself. Additionally, I don't know how enticing this offer will actually appear to most of you, but just on the off chance it's going to be wildly out of control, please post your offers here and assume that if there are four or more on the table, it's probably safe to stop.

Any questions, just let me know.

I don't think that's a bad deal at all - a very generous offer in fact. For anybody that sees this, they ought to be biting your hand off. J.

^ agree, this is a good deal considering they currently go for over $60 minimum on ebay and are VERY difficult to find at any retailer

I waited an hour, and no one bit?

    Ok, I'll take one...

I have several pending requests on this, just so everyone knows. It's probably safe to close this thread, but I can update this again once two of the sales are definitely set in stone.

Seriously? The guy is trying to help out members who actually want to enjoy the set at cost you gave it an HOUR before swooping in like a hawk???

    That's a pretty dick move.

Why? I don't have one for my personal collection, am I somehow not allowed to have one?

I think everyone on this board know that you likely have 10sets at that price, am could easily open one of them if you "wanted it for your collection".

It wouldn't look so bad if you didn't hijack the other minecraft thread.

Or... You're just bitter and angry that you were not here first?

For the record, I don't have a single one, I sold all mine. But thanks for playing...

    @legofantexas - actually, I don't like the minecrafts sets.

I do, however, feel bad for @stickybug29 who really did want this set and was not able to get it because you a) hijacked his wanted thread and then b) are too greedy to let a $20-$30 resell profit slip through your fingers.

    It's pretty sad all around.

Yea, I guess so, being attacked based on an assumption without any facts is pretty sad.
  • PhoneboothPhonebooth Member Posts: 1,430
    How's this for assumption:

You hijacked a legit thread for another member's genuine interest to purchase a set he/she really wanted. In doing so, you elicited buying ALL sets anyone wanted to sell at $45, a price HIGHER than the OP. doesn't sound like you wanted those sets or your personal collection. Dick move, exhibit 1.

Shortly afterward, you quickly pounced on another legitimate member trying to help other members by a hard to find set at a decent price.

The "I waited an hour" logic again fails to show your genuine interest in owning this set for any reason other than reselling. Dick move, exhibit 2.

I applaud @samiam for trying to link the two and doing what I hope most GENUINE members of this forum want: trying to help everyone enjoy owning Lego to their fullest capacity.

    In summary, dick move.

Surely if you already bought (multiple copies of this) and sold (presumably at a profit) it is kinda wrong to then buy a discounted one from someone, rather than let someone who hasn't had a chance to own it yet have it.
Surely if you wanted it that bad you wouldn't have flogged the ones you had, and it does kind of come across like you would sell it on at a profit, which again kinda goes totally against the generosity of the offer.
Just the way it appears to me, obviously.

You really do apply that word so well. At least the first three letters of it.

It was a joke, I think that was clear. Put your anger and bias aside and you'd see that.

    In summary, dick move.

You have no room to talk, coming from the bottom like you do.

Just for the record, LFT retracted his request when he found out other people had put requests in after him. To be fair, after a couple different reseller threads, I can understand the ire the comment might cause, but without knowing whether or not he got one, the anger may be unfounded.

That said, it looks like some people were able to pick it up at B&N, so I do still have one available for anyone that may want it, unless we're all going to be especially magnanimous and let @stickbug29 have first crack at it. ;)

And I can understand that, your post is reasonable and polite, so fair enough.

For what it is worth, I bought those copies to resell, there were no conditions attached. In this case, there were, and I was prepared to accept those conditions. For the price offered, I was happy to have one copy for personal use.

My shock was that 10 people didn't jump on the offer in 5 minutes, it was a very kind offer. I saw it within minutes of posting, but thought "naa, there'll be 10 posts saying "can I have one".

An hour later when no one had asked for one, I was like, "well heck, why not".

I think also, just to be fair, I should note that, on other days, I am that 'villainous reseller' selling an Imperial Flagship for $300+, et cetera et cetera, so I'm probably not as generous as some of you would believe.

:) I picked one up this morning from [email protected], so if someone wants the one I asked for, by all means, let them have it.

It is a very nice offer you made.

For some of the people earlier in this thread - particularly those carrying out personal attacks on people (naming no names, they will know who they are):

@tyosolo - I apologize if I violated any forum rules by calling another member out.

@legofantexas - apparently I'm an ass an a troll. I can handle that. My intentions are in the right place.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
You were rude, which was uncalled for.

I didn't make it any better by returning the favor.

@princedraven made a reasonable post that did not contain attacks, might I suggest in the future that would be a better way to write your opinions? In return, I'll refrain from replying in kind.

And soon, we'll all hold hands and sing songs together! :)

Well, maybe not, but we should be able to get along.

Tyosolo - not that you're showing some favouritism or anything, but as far as i can see, the first name calling came from LFT - calling him an ass and 'coming from the bottom like you do'. We can also throw in 'bitter and angry'.

Before that there wasn't any comments about someone just a description of an action as a 'dick move'. Given that the OP made it perfectly clear that they didn't want this offer going to a reseller; I think that's a fairly tame description of the communities most well-known reseller's action in commenting in this thread.

More importantly you'll see from those rules you posted, we're all over 16. I think we can handle the minor comments.

Its an important distinction as well - I sometimes do stupid things, doesn't make stupid. LFT made a 'dick move' (not a phrase I would use but its intent is clear), that doesn't make LFT a dick.

Let's just get all the cards on the table - I'll abandon my rudeness and speak more eloquently for the benefit of all.

@Legofantexas - you're a respected member of the forum and, to be quite honest, I've admired your business perspective and methodology regarding Lego. As any American, you have the right to earn a living and derive profit from your efforts. If you can do that via Lego, then great.

What I do not applaud is the transparent effort to undermine two legitimate requests from members of the forum to both sell and purchase a specific set, in this case some Minecraft set.

^ Nope, no controversy... If the admins say not to post in buyer threads, then I won't.

Until then, I raise the offer to $45. ;)

You may say that you were joking here, but I don't believe so. It's an obvious circumvention of the forum rules to intercede a transaction to which YOU would benefit. That, my friend, is the American capitalistic greed kicking in.

On top of that, I also don't support interceding a seller's attempt to pass on a hard-to-find set at a reasonable price to other members of this forum. As you state yourself, you had already purchased a large number of these sets at a nominal price, which then you sold for profit. You obviously are not genuinely wanting the set, as @stickbug29, or you would have already sought out the set using your impressive Lego means.

In sum, do whatever you want, but don't be surprised when someone calls you out on it when you do it on a public forum. I've met some very genuine people on this forum and that's why I spend a good deal of time here.

What you did was not genuine and was in no-one's interest but your own.

^^ ... "Its an important distinction as well - I sometimes do stupid things, doesn't make me stupid. LFT made a 'dick move' (not a phrase I would use but its intent is clear), that doesn't make LFT a dick."

Its a description of an action, not a personal attack. Irrespective, interesting you didn't flag this as abuse...

"You really do apply that word so well. At least the first three letters of it [ASS].

Sure, Im sure we can all be more grown up, in favour of that, but lets be honest about everyones behaviour, perhaps be a little less precious and then we won't have to put up with condescending crap like 'might I suggest in the future that would be a better way to write your opinions?'.

^Okay - you've got me, but LFT wasn't the aggressor. LFT didn't actually use that word did he? He implied it.

What I was flagging was the complete lack of respect for another member of the community, and the use of a defamatory word/phrase - there is no excuse for vulgar language. There is no favouritism either - I've never dealt with LFT - wouldn't know him to speak to, but I don't regularly visit this forum because I enjoy the hostility that's started here recently.

What is happening here is tantamount to bullying - and if this is going to continue on these forums, I will be one of the first to stop participating in forum discussions and trading.

At this point, it would be great if a mod could maybe clean up this thread, as I do still have one of these available for anyone interested, but I feel like that may have gotten lost somewhere in the jumble.
