    First Modular with stickers??
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
Drooling, this is a most buy :-)

This looks great but really kills my desire for Cafe Corner. I would rather have Grand Emporium and Palace Theatre as my bookends!

Buy the way we can now officially remove the "Rumor" from the title!

^^^^^ The haunted house has stickers .. which is a modular in my book anyway.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
^ Not in the traditional sense though - it can't be connected with the others and played with simultaneously floor by floor.

Love the classic Hollywood (Grauman's Chinese Theater) style!

^^ yeah plus its not actually ... erm.. modular. But anyway its still a modular in my mind. I always thought the town plan cinema should be considered a modular as well but thats just me.

I absolutely love the look of the model, but I want to see some interior images before I make any decisions. As long as it has more than six seats I will be happy (and a popcorn machine)!

Hmm. Possible March release. My birthday is in March. May be time to actually ask the wife for LEGO for the first time since coming out of my dark ages.

    Another "must have" :)

How cool would this look with the back to the future delorean parked in front!
  • BrianBrian Guest Posts: 87
Oh my god, that looks amazing! I wonder if it's as nice inside.
  • BrikingBriking Member Posts: 768
^ Surely the DeLorean has to be in front of the Town Hall
  • PicopiratePicopirate Member Posts: 325
A corner set. I suspect that the GE will probably be retired next then (and the FB may stay around for a bit longer.

Ugh! I keep clicking "buy now" but nothing is happening!

Seriously though, when I heard that the next modular might be a theater I was'nt impressed. For whatever reason I dont care for the one in Town Plan, but this is stunning. This is the best looking modular to date. I cant see anything I don't like about it. If I were to nitpick, I'd say to leave out the car so I can save a few bucks but I'llbe happy to build it anyway.

I still suspect that it will be horrible-looking on the inside. There is very little chance of otherwise given the size limitations of the Modular scale. I hope I'm wrong though as the outside of the building isn't bad.

    March birthdays represent!

Okay, I think I can skip City Hall for now. As a big movie fan, I NEED this... especially to go next door to my custom movie theater modular. xD

If this is the genuine model the stickers on the side make me sad. I love the lack of stickers in the modular series. The actual construction looks nice though.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
I kind of wish they would of tried to mimic neon for the Palace sign. Lego makes short, flexible tubes don't they? That and a light brick would of really topped it off. Other than the obvious stickers, a great looking set. Reminds me of GE which means that it's probably next to go.

Looks great. A certain purchase for me.

    That is the cat's meow!

That roof line is awesome! I cannot wait! Actually yes I can, spring release please...
  • BillybrownBillybrown Member Posts: 748
Just drooled every where - the missus thought I was looking at a dirty magazine and slapped me! Shes not a happy lady right now. I will be buying 80+ of these once Ive shifted the 58 IS's that are taking up most of the house! :-)
  • doriansdaddoriansdad Member Posts: 1,337
Love this modular, hate the stickers. A very bad precedent IMO.
  • beabea Member Posts: 227
After seeing those sad sets they are trying to pass of as creator houses, I'm happy to see a decent building.

However the architecture is a bit jarring to me. It looks like they took the roof of Mann's theatre and grafted it on a more standard deco building. Just looks off.

I think any modular would be a buy for me, but this one does seem pretty cool - looking forward to seeing some more shots.

It does have a few nods and similarities to Town Plan, but really liking the exterior detailing and the colours (great bit of SNOT arching at the top on the corner.

Do I see a red 32x32 baseplate too?

Using a dollar to pound website, if the building is 149 dollars it will be £92, that is if the price is true
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
Christ what is the problem with stickers, I don't have an issue with them and I find they help give models the finished looked!

^ I think it may be the fact sometime the stickers aren't in good condition in box or about 20 years ago LEGO always had printed bricks
  • Brick_ObsessionBrick_Obsession Member Posts: 656
What are the chances of the lights attached to the side of the building actually lighting up? I know with the latest release of Winter Village that they had the fireplace that lit up, so I am curious if they will try something like that with this set.

If now, it will make for a fun MOC idea to get the light to light up the side of the building in my opinion.
  • GrogallGrogall Member Posts: 159
My regret about the stickers probably goes back to 2002 - 2004 where the get brittle and start peeling at the lightest touch! but i'm always open to them
  • PicopiratePicopirate Member Posts: 325
I am holding out hope that the movie posters are not stickers. They could be paper/cardboard inserts behind a window. The marque looks like it is probably a sticker though.

there is 0% chances of the lights actually lighting up! just like the marque on GE!

They are unlikely to still be attached to the model 2 years after applying them. A LEGO set is not just for Christmas. :-)

For what it's worth I've noticed (in Europe at least) that GE is OOS in a lot of the larger retailers. For example, none of the European Amazons seem to have it and it's been completely removed from the Spanish version. Italy might have it but since the international shipping ban I don't bother checking it anymore. Is it already on it's way out?

I'm still not completely convinced the Palace Cinema photo is genuine but I guess time will tell.

I disagree I have sets older and I have no issues with any stickers, I think though it comes down to personal preference, I like them I just never realised how many didn't

@bricksan - As do I, but they certainly haven't been displayed for two years. I think a toy, irrespective of what that toy actually is, should last for many many years if used underth manufacturer's directions. Find me 5 year old LEGO set that's been on display and played with etc etc with all of the stickers still perfectly intact. You won't. You will however find plenty of sets with printed bricks that look as new as the first day they were opened 20 years ago.

After my complete UCS range, my Modular series is my prized LEGO possession. I thought it was the one theme that would always look pristine no matter how old it was. Well now it appears that will no longer be the case.

Beautiful! Looks very vintage with Chinese-like architecture. But I need to buy the PS and TH first before I get this one.

I think if a mod here thought it wasn't real they wouldn't have posted it on the front page! and you should know that the info that I post is always genuine by now!

well, the last one (TH) was done by Astrid, and Jamie just did the 10233 Horizon Express, so I suppose it could go either way on this one- guess we will find out

People questioning Grogall...now I've seen everything.

It looks great; interested to see the element count and price.

Wow, that looks incredible, a must have!

Unfortunately my birthday is in May... perhaps an "early birthday present"? I'll just have to swing that....
