What do y'all think? It's nice, but for some reason I was expecting more. Hard to tell without a designer video or looking at it in person. I'll probably still end up purchasing it.
Ignoring technology differences, I find it amazing that ships have not gotten bigger than the 1980 Super Star Destroyer. And that nothing is in the Death Star range.
I say technology, because regardless of size, a Borg cube at 3k would stomp a SSD any day of the week. :)
As an example, it talks about the gravity effects of the first Death Star's arrival in the Yavin system and the effect it would have on Yavin IV, acting as a new moon from a gravity and tidal point of view due to the size of the station.
Blah, size has nothing to do with it, mass does, and the Death Star wouldn't have even 1% of the mass of a real moon! it is mostly hollow.

Read the end of that, Side Effects.
The Death Star isn't likely massive enough to really matter in that case.

I'm not totally sold on the underside, but it's a day 1 purchase for me!
2015 release is mystifying... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!
My other issue is the seat could have be made to rotate from flight mode to landing mode without removing the cockpit cover.
However... I am now wondering what sort of UCS offering we will get and when we will get them in 2015. A greedy thought I know :) but in the last few years we have got a major SW set in May and then again around October. With Slave 1 launching in Jan can we really expect a major May release? Maybe but I would be surprised to see two big hitters so close together, so maybe we get another set closer to Christmas next year (can't think what major film event that will tie in with).
I know this lovely Slave 1 isn't even out yet I am think about what might be next, but might we see a different sort of May 4th release next year (I.e. No UCS) and will the rumours of a new UCS Falcon come to fruition at the back end of 2015 as part of what will be one of the biggest media/PR/promotion campaigns in recent film history?

Probably the Snowspeeder, ISD, and Naboo Starfighter and the most likely, then the Blockade Runner, and then the rest.

Are we certain about that January 1st release date? This seems awfully early to list a set that won't be available for another three months.

It still looks better value than the X-Wing, and certainly more interesting to build!
