I can't be excited for the village. I'll wait for a severe price drop.

Or even having the village not suspended at all?

That would be a huge mistake. At least I think so.

I agree. I would be hugely disappointed if this was the case.

As for the Ewok Village, I will be interested to see how the set plays out. I'd expect to see the throne, the imperial 'helmet' drums as an example.

I'd be surprised if there weren't a net trap. A bridge to re-create the Luke/Leia/Han scene, a room to re-create the Ewoks/C-3PO scene, and a small forest area to re-create the Leia/Wicket/Scout scene are all possibilities.
Would be nice to see the various traps used by the Ewoks, yes. Especially the AT-ST Log Trap.

If the forest maiden hair is indeed intend for Leia as well I'm guessing we'll see at least some 'celebration' elements. Though I'd be surprised if there weren't some Ewok vs Scout trooper traps as well.

Fig wise I'd like to see at least 3 ewoks (new print?), celebration Leia, c-3po and R2 (probably), maybe Chewie and then a scout trooper or two (on bikes?). But 8 figs is probably pushing it, I guess we could lose R2. Makes me think £60-80 set, along the lines of the last big endor one.

I was referring to the trap that Chewbacca set off, which caught Luke, Han, etc. in a net. Any of the Ewok contraptions vs. Imperial forces fall outside of what should be in an "Ewok Village", in my opinion.

Maybe we're overthinking all of this and it will be based on the 80s cartoon.

8 figs is pushing it? Nah, look at the Death Star. [Edit, I notice you mention you see it as a £60-80 ~$100 set, which imho, would be a complete waste of time for a set of this potential scope.]

As for no imperial presence, I'd think the set would be set more in the "forest" rather than the village proper.

If I can't log-smash AT-STs or speeder bikes with this thing, I'm out.

The name of the set is apparently "Ewok Village", so it would be odd if there were no village.

I'm thinking the village should be the centerpiece with traps surrounding the village such as the log trap.

    Or

Basically, two trees that are connected by a rope bridge for the village and near the base, the log trap.

(Have I mentioned the log trap? ;) )

Yeah, I saw the name of the set, and I read the word "village" also. My point is that the village may be the centerpiece, but that doesn't preclude them from including (interesting) scenes that occurred in the forest around the village.

I'll echo again, if this is strictly the village, with helmet xylophones, meat traps, forest maiden hair and floating C3P0*'s, I'll likely pass.

This is a 10xxx set, will be more along the lines of $200-250. should have all the minifigs you can think of to belong in an Ewok Village.

I'd be surprised not to see an AT-ST in it, unless TLG assume anyone wanting this already bought the bunker set that came with an AT-ST.

I am hopefull this is something of a benchmark set. The recent Arkham set and the Jabbas palace have both pushed the price barrier but both are excellent, packed with features and figures. If we are looking at a £200 village it needs to be better than both thee sets. It will either focus on one scene or be something like the Death Star and allow multi scene play? I hope the latter :)
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
I can't wait to see pictures of the Ewok Village. There has been a good deal of well designed sets lately and this one has been given an extra long time. I hope it is a little bit more than $200 to get enough detail in. A village built in between two forests sounds like an awful big undertaking to design perfectly.
  • KleiovousKleiovous Member Posts: 95
^ Such a big undertaking one can't imagine how it is going to look anything but incomplete.

I'm not a big fan of star wars location based sets anyway, but to make sizeable tree trunks is going to take lots of parts, then the question is whether they will just be stumps with huts on top (and C3P0 in a floating chair) or whether the trunks will continue up through the huts in which case the interiors will be tiny? But then how to top off your footlong subway (tree trunk)? Will there be leaves or will the ewok village look like a something from Ypres or the Somme.

I'm sure it'll be great, but to be really great it needs to be massive, which if £200 is unlikely or it be will like Orthanc and be almost complete less the section the accountants designed!

I wonder what ewoks will be included in the set? We've already had the main ones (chief Chirpa, Logray, Wicket etc) between ewok attack and the endor bunker set (which came with tons of minifigs - so there's hope for this one). AM I right in thinking there are 5 or 6 Ewoks out there from those 2 recent sets? It might seem like more because I got 2 bunker sets and combined them.

Ewoks came in the old and new Ewok Attack sets. Set numbers are as follows: 7956 and 7139.

I hope it is just generic unnamed Ewoks because LEGO is probably going to pull the old buy two to make your village complete trick. And then they will probably turn around and ban everybody that orders two for being a reseller.

This set sounds like it would lend itself to a 2X build as is the case for Joust or Horizon Express.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,559
An ewok village needs some Imperial presence. How else will they justify the ten speeder bikes that will be included?

Me too. I have the five existing printed versions. If they just repeat them, then it will probably be a miss for me.

I would not get my hopes up to high for this set. For that price point, it will be hard to do the subject matter justice.

    Unless you find this interesting.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
^ Yep. That's probably it with a few modifications. I was going to say that it would be similar to Kingdoms Joust, but that's pretty juniorized.

^^That looks like Kashyyyk to me. I hope they don't recycle and use this as the template for the Ewok Village...
  • HokieJoe99HokieJoe99 Member Posts: 351
^^^I don't remember seeing battle droids and clone troopers while watching ROTJ, but with the way Lucas changed the OT, you never know.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
Just my luck, I was gonna grab a bunch of battle of endors and ewok attacks just in case they did an Ewok Village, but I ended up grabbing only one of each because I figured an Ewok Village will never get done. Oh well, I'm sure they will release a similar battle pack type set with ewoks in it again. I figure I'll need the extra pieces and minifigs to complete the village properly.
  • ISDAvengerISDAvenger Member Posts: 205
I actually have a decent assortment of Ewoks from previous sets. I just hope the above picture is not the set TLG plans on releasing.
  • cavegodcavegod Member Posts: 811
I dont remember ewoks or shield generator dishes on kashyyyk either
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
That picture is a really odd collection. Shield generator, scout trooper and ewoks all from endor but droids and the flying thing are from kashyyyk.

Thinking back now on that scene in Ep III on Kashyyyk, there seems to be some disconnect there with the rest of the EU. Some of the books mention that Kashyyyk is completely covered in the gigantic trees and that no Wookie had ever been to the actual surface of the planet due to the layering that occurred as you went down the trees. The lower couple layers were too dangerous.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
That camo scout trooper in the pic looks really sweet, I would love to see one of those get made.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Wookies have been to the surface, but it is very dangerous and many don't return.

Yes, the movie broke that, but then the movies don't have to follow the books.

The whole think on Kashyyyk was just put there for eye candy, there was no real story there, just an excuse to put it there since he missed it in Return of the Jedi.

Perhaps the Ewok Village will include a Lego alter to burn the Lego Darth on. And that potentially means matches or lighters. And if they include matches, why not toss in some fireworks too. Wow...my kids will be more excited about this set than the DS...I know I am. ;-)
  • LeonCLeonC Member Posts: 364
As long as they have the obligatory cartoon warning not to point the fireworks into your own eyes :-)
  • HokieJoe99HokieJoe99 Member Posts: 351
Ewok lighters and matches in minifigure scale? I'm in.

  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
So is it 100% for sure that the Ewok Village is considered the UCS set for 2nd half of 2013?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
Personally, I'd have trouble considering it a UCS, in the same way DS isn't, but then who knows what TLG have in mind. Hell, they're into releasing UCS models now.

10*** SW sets get bought. Period!
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ and ^^ they have gone away from using the "UCS" label on the boxes the past few years (none of SSD, R2, BWing, Xwing use the UCS labelling, though they do all come with the plaques of course). I think rather than thinking there are 2 Star Wars "UCS" sets per year, we should be thinking there are 2 Star Wars large LEGO exclusives per year (10xxx). The Ewok Village is clearly the 2nd of the two (X Wing being the first)
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Labeling on the boxes has gone Do-Do, that's for sure. And it wasn't really consistent in the past either. But the plaque, there's no way around that one. That is the truer mark for UCS nowadays. And if Ewok Village really is considered as the 2nd one for the year. Then 2013 will go down as the lamest UCS year in over a decade. A rehash and a UCS that isn't. Great way to shaft the UCS fans TLG.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^Though I agree that the X-Wing was an absolute wreck of a model, I'm quite pumped for the Ewok Village, UCS or not.

^I am also excited for EV. It looks fabtastic and I even have a Battle of Endor waiting to get cracked to accompany it. Even more so if it got a plaque to qualify as UCS.

But we go home empty handed of UCS stickers instead for second half of '13. Unless TLG has an ace up their sleeve "there is another..."
