Looks more like a short Charlton Heston in "The Ten Commandments".

    Maybe a new franchise theme?

Not long now until NYCC so these sets should be revealed very soon

I gotta say, I'm way more excited for the Hobbit sets than I was for Lord of the Rings. Maybe it was Bag End that did it, but I'm really liking what I've been seeing so far!

^^ Where can you find details about the LEGO stuff at NYCC?
  • kezkez Member Posts: 831
@brickmatic the news about the hobbit sets being revealed at New York comic con was on the brickset homepage quite recently. I believe that brickset and many other lego websites will be hosting information about new lego revealed at this times comic con

^ I meant prior to the event, like to plan your trip.
  • kezkez Member Posts: 831
On comic cons website it should get updated just before the event and if you go onto Legos page, it should tell you the dates for what theme is going to be revealed e.g. Monday- the hobbit sets

Here is a better image of some of the new hobbit figures

Got some pics of 4 of the Dwarfs and one female elf from the upcoming sets, although unsure of one of the Dwarfs names and the female elf. Here is one of the pics:

Having researched a bit more into Hobbit film characters, what do you think of the likelihood of a Goblin King large figure? He looks like he'd be about Cave troll scale, but err more ugly and naked.

Sorry but images are no more, as expected these should not be public yet.

From left to right, I think they are:

    1: Thranduil (from #79004)
    2: Bombur
    3: Gloin
    4: Oin
    5: Dwalin

Absolutely. Will be in set #79010

Who's Thranduil? Someone suggested its more likely Legolas with the wrong head. The face has freckles suggesting it could be Tauriel (played by actress Evangeline Lily).

On a side note, does anyone else find the hashtags just link them back to the same page?

Thranduil is the king of the forest elves. He is the father of Legolas (from the LotR trilogy).

In part of the book (and movie) the dwarves are captured by Thranduil and the forest elves. They escape by sealing themselves in barrels and floating down an underground river.

    Any confirmed dates of release?
  • kezkez Member Posts: 831
@sipmart242 hobbit sets are due to come out on the 1st December in time for the movie

I think the last time I thought about the Hobbit was in 1982, playing it on the ZX Spectrum. That barrel picture above reminded me of it, getting into barrels to escape. I don't think I ever got much further than that.

Thanks for the notice @kez! Very interesting to see sets so similar to the first LotR wave, like Gollum's cave and the Shelob who now gets a cave too. The big tree reminds me of Forbidden Forest, just bigger. Kinda disappointing actually, for me at least.

I was obviously wrong on my "Thranduil" guess. The minifig we saw was a Legolas minifig with a Tauriel head.
