But wouldn't replacing Ninjago with TMNT be just more of the same though? And why buy a license to a TV show, when you already have your own successful show and toy theme?
On the other hand, a guaranteed full theme that I won't want to buy a single set from would actually be quite useful for me financially.
Translated:
"A reliable, highly reliable even tells me that LEGO will actually offer products licensed TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) with an official launch date announced for January 2013.
No details on the contents of this range for now, but we can assume that LEGO will be based on the animated series with the launch on 29 September on the American channel Nickelodeon (see press release).
It can therefore be considered as the onset of acquired license from LEGO TMNT for next year. Hopefully the New York Comic Con to be held from October 11 to 14, 2012 will bring us more about this new range ...
Small clarification: The above image is not the range in question is a montage put together by yours truly ... I say this in case you find yourself image and moreover that you sell as a visual official ..."
I have a couple of the mega block minigfigs from a few years back. Got them in an unsorted lot of lego and thought they were pretty neat. Can't wait to replace them with Lego's version!
I hear you though. I had no idea there was a new cartoon and movie coming out until I read this thread. TLG would not be releasing sets based on TMNT unless there was additional media to coincide with it. Just like LotR would not have been a theme for LEGO if The Hobbit movies weren't coming out.
When I was up at a meeting with Nickelodeon and they said turtles lego was coming I suddenly started getting very excited. I am a huge fan of the Turtles ever since the original 80/90s cartoon and films. I for one cant wait to see these sets.

"Upon TMNT's first arrival in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Austria, Germany, and some other countries in Europe, the name was changed to "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" (or TMHT, for short), since local censorship policies deemed the word ninja to have excessively violent connotations for a children's program"
especially with the upcoming movie to drive sales
If they shell attachs somehow on the back that would be a great new piece.
...eh! not a fan, probably won't win me over. Hope we get some good parts packs out of it.
But what do I know? I haven't been 10 since the early 80's.
I'm not really interested in even seeing the concept designs for these sets. I think these so called "Ninja Turtle" minifigures would have custom shell pieces and moulded heads. They might as well be Mega B***s again if we're going to see some crazy looking half-minifigure hybrid from China. Thankfully for me, I'm still convinced this is a stupid lie spreading around the internet. I hope Lego Ninja Turtles never sees the light of day.
Since then there has been a few attempts at a revival(last time was in 2003) but it has never really caught on since back in the day.
And I guess nickelodeon hopes that thime it will. And Lego is going to try it out since they were doing a ninja theme allready that was going to end in 2013 anyway.
