How to change channels on Lego Spybotics

I picked up a few old Lego Spybotics sets for my kids to build their own RC robots, but I haven't been able to find an directions on how to get them operating on different channels. I know there are 3 different channels so we could have 3 operatings at the same time. Does anyone know how to change them to run on a different channel?

Assuming I remember this right, first, you set the remote switch to the lock symbol, then press one of the top 3 buttons; the remote will send out a signal changing the channel for all spybots in range (and itself of course).
