We want more doors, do we?

Lately I'm building and designing modular buildings and came across a real problem: the lack of variety in doors!
Right now LEGO offers only a couple of doors for the 1x4x6 door frame:
- door 1 x 4 x 6 with 3 Panes
- door 1 x 4 x 6 with 4 Panes and Stud Handle
- door 1 x 4 x 6 with Stud Handle (non-transparent, BL 60616)).
The last one is available in 3 transparent varieties and only 1 opaque in the colour white, which is hardly available. (Bricklink overview)
Why TLG don't we have doors in all sorts of colours AND with no holes in it?
Using doors in your buildings for bathroom/toilets and many other rooms or entrances you don't want 'holes' in the door, you want solid doors. And you want them in a variety of colours: light/dark bluish grey, reddish brown, black and so on.

What's your opinion? Do you share my opinion? And if so: can't we start some kind of on-line petition to ask TLG to produce a wider variety of doors?

In my (real) house, I want all the doors to match. I do the same in Lego.

In the US, most homes are built using white or neutral colored doors, like tan. I don't ever remember seeing a tan door. As far as the other colors, I can't imagine someone painting their doors black unless you are a vampire. The green door looks good for a main entry door, but not an interior door. So, most of my building have white doors.

I agree completely. The door can make a huge difference in the appearance of the building. I've tried building doors out of plates & tiles, but they end up to thick and clunky. A larger variety of pre-made doors and frames would be fantastic. Maybe some that are 3 studs wide, not 4, also.

I agree completely!! I am building a MOC House right now and right now I have a door with 4 pane holes in it. Doesn't fit right.

I grew up in an old (100+ year old) farm house with wooden doors. They had been natural color, white, green, black, and brown... of course not at the same time. Doors ARE personality for the owner of a house.

So I say thee, YES. MORE DOOR COLORS PLEASE :) (now we all start chanting and head to the pub!

So we want solid white and grey doors and maybe other light colors (light tan). And of course all shades of brown for the wooden doors. And dark green as well. TLG: please listen to us!

Agreed. The fact that LEGO hasn't really made any solid doors (aside from the ugly 2x4x5 doors that came in Basic sets) has bothered me since I was a wee lad. I was especially bothered when they used an exterior style door for the bathroom of the town house in 10218. I'm pretty sure this was the first time TLG made a building with a bathroom and they couldn't even produce a simple solid door for it?
MORE DOORS! MORE DOORS! MORE DOORS!
...and more color options for windows from PAB, since black and white just aren't enough

I guess they don't do private house interiors very well. The modulars (TH, FB, etc are office style interiors where you normally have glassed panel doors, so the exterior door works well in that situation.

I usually sit on the pot with the door open anyway, so...

^ me too - I can carry on watching TV that way :)

On topic, I'd like more 1x4x6 solid doors in 'real' colours too. Not all doors need window cutouts in them.

I had a go at making an "internal" door for a 1x4x6 frame, using the power of 3D printing, and I came very close.

Thats why I bought a ton of those left and right hand Gray 1 x 4 x 5 doors that had brown panels instead of clear panels (found in a Spongebob Squarepants set, I forget which one). You can get both left and right hand doors with brown panels in light stone color frames.. While not perfect, they fit the bill for the apt building I am thinking about building
