Technic connection help

I am unfamiliar with Technic pieces, so please help a newbie.

I have part 3749 (axle pin w/o friction ridges lengthwise) on me right now. I know that part 3700 can only go in the pin end, and part 32064 can only fit in the axle end. However, I'm seeing another part, part 32064b, that looks like it has an X-style opening. Could part 32064b fit on either end of part 3749?

Thanks in advance!

Haha. Although it would be nice, the pin won't go into any of those two bricks. Brick 32064b is a later version of 32064, why they felt the need to change it, is unknown to me. Hope I've helped. :)

Thank you for your help, though I'm not sure what you mean. If part 32064b will not fit either end of part 3749, one of which is a standard axle end, then what DOES part 32064b fit with?

Right now I'm planning to put a 3749 axle pin through a 3700 brick and a 32064 brick, then allow the 32064 brick to swivel up and down while keeping the 3700 brick in place. However, part 32064b is cheaper, which is why I'm wondering about it.

No, no, sorry, my post was unclear, the axle end of 3749 WILL fit into 32064b. Yeah, what your planning to do is fine and will work well. :)
