Just joined the Brickset Forum, but have been using Brickset for the past few months when I came out of my dark ages.

So far have built up quite a collection of recent Lego. I love the modular houses! Have all 5 and 2 of my own designs (still a work in progress) and also really love the Batman Lego

Anybody else from New York?

welcome adello, I am from NY as well - the long island/queens area
Been fully out of my dark ages for about a year. Mostly City (nephew loves them) .. I have some kingdoms, agents, licensed themes as well.
A couple of years ago (bc of my love for comics) my girlfriend at the time got me the Lego Batman Batcave for xmas. I found Arkham Asylum about a month later on sale at a Lego store in Chicago for about $30!
Batman is my favorite theme as well and I want more sets!

I'm in the Brooklyn area, but WOW!! Great pick up on the Arkham Asylum. I actually picked up Arkham Asylum, Two Face Escape, and Aerial Assault sets so far (won't tell you how much I've spent haha) and I am really trying to get the Batcave....I've lost a few on EBay so far =(

i'd like an entire collection myself ... i'm banking on some releases/new sets when the new movie comes out in 2012 though before I got nuts spending on those sets
not sure if it will happen since the lego/disney agreements and last year's disney buyout of marvel comics (batman is dc, dc is owned by warner) .. but who knows? Megabloks currently makes Marvel products so perhaps the license doesn't work the way I thik it does.

I'm from around the New York area. I remember getting the Bat Cave when it was on sale at the Toys R Us in Times Square.

Very lucky! I do remember walking around in Toys R Us and KB Toys in my dark ages and seeing the Batman Lego....if I could only go back in time....

I grew up on LI, but now live in the Hudson Valley. Welcome!

I got back into LEGO last year due to the video games. Thought it would be cool to get a set from each video game theme, and then found out how ridiculously over-priced the Batman stuff is! I've since fully emerged from my dark ages and now have amassed quite a collection.

Yea the Batman stuff is very overpriced!! I've kind of faced that fact and have bought 3 sets already

I should have qualified my post with the fact that the collection I've amassed has NOT included any Batman sets. I just re-read it and it sounded like I have. The collection is full of a lot of other stuff, mostly SP3, World Racers, Indiana Jones, Creator and a few SW sets.

I'm on Long Island as well - out in Suffolk County though. Licensed themes weren't around when I was a kid - so they don't really have that much of a hold on me. Sure, I like the idea of having a Batman minifigure, and I'm glad I was able to pick up some of the Indiana Jones stuff on the way out. But I'd rather spend $20 or $30 on Alien Conquest sets than a minifigure from a movie...

NY, NY. The fantasy Trolls pulled me out of the dark. I pop into the Manhattan store regularly.

@adello25 I remember walking around TRU during my dark ages as well thinking the same thing. I think specifically I thought... "Hey, this Harley Quinn set looks cool."

@vynsane I wish I picked up more Blacktron from SP 3.

@bmwlego I think I emailed somewhere to join the mailing list but I don't recall ever getting a message. Didn't realize I already have your Flickr handle though. Will try there!

There will be a meeting at Brick Fair this weekend, most likely during Adult Swim of I LUG NY. All Brick Fair attendees from the NY tri-state area are welcome to attend! More info to be posted on the Community Board at Brick Fair.
