Flippin' flipper roof technique

I have been searching for hours trying to find a reference photo, thought I had bookmarked/faved, can't find it, whatever.

I want to build a roof using the minifig flippers as roof tiles. I have seen it done several times. I am having a problem, though, I cannot get them to stay on. They keep popping off all by themselves and it is driving me nuts. Anyone who knows what I am talking about have a picture, or link, or helpful guidance?? Please?

If you don't know what I am talking about, It is basically a big sheet of the flippers upside down and backwards and it looks like a cool tile or shingle roof.
