Production issues ...

A few months ago, it was noted that the 'lip' size on new 1x3 inverted slopes had increased in thickness ... you can see it here, on the underside of the car, the invert slopes nearest the centre of the car have a thicker 'lip' ...
There was some debate at the time about this 'modification' & the reasons behind it ... LEGO have confirmed ()via the Ambassador programme) that it was a mistake & the moulds involved have been destroyed.

    Wow...this will stink for those who have these parts in unopened sets and do not open them for many years down the road

    1) Did LEGO QA discover the issue or was it only realized after consumers started inquiring?

    2) Did they provide a timeline or set range where the bad mold was used?
