[US] Toys R Us 4th of July 4 Day Sale

edited June 2012 in Shopping USA/Canada
Star Wars sets appear to be 10% off (TRU price). Some are 30% off (TRU price) - Hoth Echo Base, Elite Clone Trooper battlepack, Endor battlepack, TIE Fighter.

Good deal on the Hoth Echo Base, and may be your last chance to get 10212 Imperial Shuttle at a decent price.

Don't forget to add the Ninjago Hidden Sword to your order. It comes free with purchases over $20 - but you need to explicitly add it to your cart.

Free shipping for purchases over $75.

Looks like they removed the 10% off Death Star, SSD, and Imperial Shuttle. Doh.

Any idea when the minifigures will go on sale again? Wanting a sale to get Series 7.

    @sidersdd Thanks for info

@sidersdd, thanks as well. I just placed an order for 2 Hoth bases. It's a nice looking playset with some cool minifigures. You can never go wrong with a Tauntaun figure as well :)

Is this in store as well?
  • CurvedRoadPlateCurvedRoadPlate Member Posts: 257
You can order online and then pick it up in store, I saw that option on the website. Check for local availability
  • turtle1173turtle1173 Member Posts: 230
I also bought 2 Hoth Bases. I'm going to be in TN tomorrow and thought I would just do an instore pickup over there, since the closest TRU is 45 minutes the other direction. I live in Missouri. Ends up I saved $8 by paying my tax and getting free shipping, instead of picking it up and paying TN tax. I've never had any trouble with TRU shipping... maybe this will be the time, LOL.

Got a hoth base and tie fighter. The tie fighter was a pretty good deal, $14 off RRP. The prices are same in store as online, but the promo in store is a free series 6 or 7 minifig with $20 Lego purchase.
  • ZonZon Member Posts: 214
This is tough on me - the closest TRU is an hour away, and while I could just order the Hoth Base online, I have a $10 off a $50 or more purchase coupon for in-store only sitting on my desk taunting me.

7879 - Hoth Echo Base seems like a good deal, and if you just want one for personal use, this is as good a deal as any.

But I, for one, am not buying them, I don't think the set will do any better than Home One did.

    Just thinking outloud...

The Hoth Base has the exclusive figs in it but the set does nothing for me. Seems incomplete if you ask me.
  • SquareSideSquareSide Member Posts: 170
Hmmm... Tie is very tempting. Might pass tho...

These are all showing up at 10% off for me. Limit 1 on the SSD, and 2 on the others.

^ yep, looks like they reinstated the 10% off on the UCS sets.

I will disagree here. I this this set will do ok. It's a base (not many in the SW universe) and the exclusive figs are from Empire. I think that helps. Though the red protocol droid is odd and doesn't do much for many collectors.

^ I think the aftermarket speculation is best left for the main speculation threads.

As for this sale, I too am giving serious thought to both the Tie and Hoth.

FYI: Went to the local TRU store and the price on the Hoth set is $10.00 more :(
So I just order it online and have it shipped free direct.
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
Picked up the Hoth set yesterday for $67 and got the free Ninjago Hidden Sword so really got it for $62 :)

I guess maybe it depends on the store. I went to a TRU in TN yesterday and it was regularly priced at $95 and below it was a sign that advertised it as 30% off and $66.xx.

Too bad I already have these sets. Fortunately I did get the Hoth Base for $71.99 at TRU on a sale plus 20% off last year, so no biggie.

I just cannot really pull the trigger on the Hoth sets, I want them, but I bought an IS from Amazon and just picked up 2 London escapes from the local LEGO store since they were on sale.

I am not huge into Star Wars LEGO like many are; I'm more of a CITY and TRAINS guy, but I did pick up the Hoth Echo Base for $60 something and grabbed the free Ninjago polybag as well. My kids dig the SW minfigs, and I think that red protocol droid is pretty cool - it should fit right in with their chrome one and the regular gold one. Pretty good deal for all those minifigs at that price, IMO.

So...it seems that if I add any of the 30% off sets to my cart, the free shoprunner shipping disappears. Ugh. My hatred of Toysrus grows by the day.
  • SquareSideSquareSide Member Posts: 170
Buckled and bought the Hoth Echo Base with 1 more left on the shelf. My TRU didn't say anything about the Tie Fighter being 30% off but oh well. I can wait for a better deal on it seeing as it's a 2012 item(I hope).

Is this sale over with now? I went on the website and everything was back at the marked up price and called my local store and same thing.
  • hleonffuhleonffu USAMember Posts: 244
Yes. Sale only good until July 2.
  • sidersddsidersdd USAMember Posts: 2,432
Yeah, despite being called 4th of July 4 day sale, it actually ended before July 4th (June 29 - July 2).
  • BanditBandit Member Posts: 890
I went ahead and helped TRU out and created the coupon for them to use for next year's sale:

Ha! For a moment, my heart jumped with excitement @bandit. Guaranteed, someone will print that out and take it to the store without "getting" your joke.
  • BlueMoonUSABlueMoonUSA Member Posts: 116
Thanks, Bandit. But no free shipping kills that deal :)
  • starfailurestarfailure Member Posts: 138
It should say "excludes LEGO" in the fine print.
  • BanditBandit Member Posts: 890
^ did you read the fine print? ;)

^Wow... surprised they weren't marked even more down at that number. $20 is a steal though on that.. I hear predictions of it being at $60 by this Christmas.
  • CurvedRoadPlateCurvedRoadPlate Member Posts: 257
I picked up 7879 Hoth Echo Base from TRU for $66.49. I placed the order on 6/29. Got the box but no hidden sword poly. When I called about it they said supplies were limited and they were out of stock when my order shipped. The hidden sword promo is still listed as available on the site. Customer service said "Valid while supplies last". I wish they would take down the offer from the site if they don't have any left.
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
i've gotten 3 of them in the past few weeks in NYC at that price... actually last one was only $17.98 =-) 2 in good condition and the last one opened tape but all poly's sealed, grabbed a CMF to break 20 bucks and got a Free CMF too =-D Still have the first set I got for around 30 all built and the figs are mixed with my other SW stuff.
  • gdelahoussegdelahousse Member Posts: 153
@CurvedRoadPlate I think it was more a mistake from their part than anything else. I passed orders on 6/29 and 7/3 and got both hidden sword...
