Brickset event calendar?

Just wondering if there is any interest in adding a side-bar calendar to the forum and/or the main site. It seems to me that events often creep up on people, and by the time they realise about the event it's too short notice to attend. If there was a calendar handy then people could easily consult it and be aware of events in good time.
Also the details of any shop.Lego.com promotions could be added to the calendar.
Anyone else think this would be useful?

I would second that. I am finding I go to BrickSet for most of my LEGO information and that would be handy; just don't know what the rules of the website allow. Also, there is Admin overhead involved in something like that....

It would be, although I'm reluctant to add one because, well, I can't really say any more, I'm under NDA :)

I agree if sales, promos etc were in it that would help a lot. From my limited experience & memory, other sites only list actual events

@Huw - I'm intrigued... but I guess you would say more if you could... :-(

I recon Huw's managed to get brickset recognised as the official BBQ provider to AFOLs, and landed a large sponsorship deal from TLG. There will be a brickset BBQ every other weekend, rotating around brickset members, and at each there will be an unreleased set given away to the person who can eat the most of the free sausages. The new BBQ calendar will be rolling out shortly

    Thats my theory anyway :)

That would tie-in nicely with the recently released Beach BBQ set. Coincidence?

Just need to add a few CMs, a space police alien and policeman and not forgetting darth vader and a goat to the BBQ beach, oh, and change the beach part to 'rainy British back garden' and we're good to go :)

I'm happy to host in the north Essex area, I can't guarantee the rain though. Plus anbody that enjoys oversized trampolines Ive got that covered too. :-)

The summer has finally arrived! I am definately up for a BBQ, and I am happy to host it too, I live in East Sheen (SW London) and have a garden and 2 BBQ's. Probably best to wait until after the games, as transport may be a bit tricky, but if anyone else is keen and suggests dates then it would be great to get together! I can also get a gazebo if the weather is miserable. :)
