You will need to change the wheels for the back cars as they are not train wheels and will easily fall off the track for starters :-)
Otherwise Id say take one of the back cars and replace the wheels with a 9V motor

Has anyone done this? I'd love to see pictures of the ghost train running on a track.

Thank you. Now I'm really considering picking up that set. The ghost train might look cool circling around the haunted mansion.

I can't really tell, but is that a brick-built street in that video?

^ Looks like it, not a 100% sure though.

I'm going to motorize mine when I get one but my only issue is I don't think the flapping wings will fit through the train stations and my tunnel.

Also whoever made that video needs to change the battery in their smoke alarm.

If it moved slower, I might try it. Maybe put in some old batteries?

There's a speed dial. even at 1 though the motor flies around the track. Also, it's mains powered.

Boy, 9V users sure have an easier job of motorizing than PF users. They don't have to find a way to hide the battery pack or the IR tower, they just slap a new wheelbase on the bottom and they are done.

Yeah, it is easier to motorize a train to 9V, but.. with PF you can have more complex train layouts, i.e. a track that loops back onto itself /or a turnaround (can't do that with 9V), and you can have more trains running on the same track with PF.

Each system has it's strengths and weaknesses..

Has anyone got the pdf instructions for this set? I couldn't find them on lego.com.

The bricklink inventory says you get 2x 85489a and 4x 85489b. I cannot work out where the first two of these are in the pictures of the train.

The blind drivers are not used in the model, but 2 are included as extras. I'm new to trains so I'm not sure what these could be used for.

Yeah, thanks. I was just looking at the EN instructions, they are used in that model.

A completely noob question but has anyone here motorized the Ghost Train? Any step by step guide you'd be willing to share? I am new to this and would love to power up the GT, any help is much appreciated.

I'll be tackling this come Halloween myself.

Huh. I love that video... Hmm. I am clueless on motorizing trains or even what train parts are out there. I think I am going to google some.

I did motorise mine using power functions and its cool but because of the position of the cams for the flapping wings it was not possible for me to maintain the flap(though I think I will work on this some more once some of my other projects are done! I also have been working on an alternative carrage
Pleae have a look at the links! I'll try and take some pics tonight to help anyone trying to pf the ghost train!
