I have soured a bit on eBay in the last year or two, but to be honest some of my best deals and rarest purchases have been found there. I can’t quite break the habit of looking for diamonds in the rough to be found in bulk lots, and scoring rare items from overseas can be quite satisfying as well. I stopped selling on eBay though (after a 10 year run) because I just can’t deal with “people” anymore…

Nothing immediately jumps out but the boat Hull and vintage motor are heavy items. A number of non-lego items in there as well but possibly not unreasonable after fees and discounts.
Because you're in the States and the item is in the UK. So that would be the postage. Same if situation was reversed.
