^Being a first year student doesn't excuse stupidity. I primarily auction things off myself, but if I absolutely need a certain price for something, I go with a Buy-It-Now. So I'd say you've done nothing wrong here and this particular seller probably needed to learn there were consequences to questionably business practices anyway.

This. @y2josh is absolutely correct, you did absolutely nothing wrong. In fact, you did everything right. Perhaps the seller has learned a lesson now, and won't try to scam some other person. Thanks for helping out the eBay community!

Sometimes you just can't tell someone anything, they won't listen, are stubborn, etc...

But you can show them, and perhaps by doing so they end up learning something.

This seller could of got a lot more if he/she used the keywords Grand Emporium and Cafe Corner. I normally look for 'from a non-smoking house' or similar in the auctions, but I need to add 'from an air freshner free house' as well! The set I opened last night smelled so strongly of airfreshener as soon as I unwrapped it that I thought they must have sprayed the box, but even the parts inside stank. It's all separated out now and sitting by an open window to de-freshen!

Anyone else had some odd-smelling sets off eBay?

Ha ha, I had exactly this problem with a set I bought off ebay recently. Luckily the smell was not very persistent and it was OK after a week of being left in circulating air.

All the negative feedback was left over the past few days. I can't leave any feedback, as the seller is no longer a registered user. I've already opened the case, but it'll still take at least 10 days before eBay even think about giving my money back.

^Make it simple for yourself. Call eBay and they'll take one look at his seller page and give you your money back. No need to wait 10 days, unless you really don't care about getting your money back right away.

Waiting 10 days feels simpler than phoning eBay to be honest. They were a waste of time the last time I had a problem. Fortunately I'm not in a rush, as it went on the credit card.

They must surely aim these at kids who get hold of their folks cards amd think 'oh i can buy this super rare set and it will be fine as i can tell my parents it will be worth a ton of money. So they will be fine with it.'

GG is worth about $450 used
FB, GE, PS are $150 new
TH is $200 new
Minimodulars is $80 new

That auction is for used sets, for $3,000. If he was selling for $2,000, it might be interesting.

It's not ridiculous. My friend sells video game codes for insane money all the time. I sold my Founder card from the Call of Duty MW3 game for $30

Yes, but that's still more understandable than $60, and is useful ingame according to Google.

It's also a franchise based around LEGO, which you would think would be something the fans would rather spend $60 on a Batcave.

Apparently the act of removing the keychain from the figure is worth £7. Why anyone would then want a glued figure that is not rare at all with a hole is beyond me.

^ It is a blatant lie, since they use a set number in the title which this keyring does not appear in. Of course, they are preying on people that do not read the description. Aren't these glued as well - so not only is there a hole in the head, but the figure wont come apart.
