^the counter to this though is there is a drop box (not cloud computer service) which stuff can be put into and not taken out of so its no different to a stuff being put through the letter box.

^ Probably not an issue then. You didn't mention a box, just 'tucked away in the garage' :-)

Meant to write safe place tucked away, more speed less haste in future :-P

My postie regularly used to leave parcels nicely hidden. In the last year, not once.

They've toughened up on staff found to be breaking the rules recently apparently, especially since the deliver to neighbor option was introduced.

I haven't had too many deliveries by RM since the start of the year actually, when Amazon Logistics started operating around here (who incidentally have no problem leaving parcels in a 'safe' place - or just about anywhere in vaguely close proximity to the house...)

^Its not that ridiculous when you work out that the 3 MS's and CC would fetch around £3500 alone

Plus those sets are rear. His words not mine.

The market squares aren't worth nearly that( I'd love to know how many have actually sold in that price range). Only a fool with too much money would pay that.

I loved the use of the "rear." Everyone loves a good rear.
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
Theres at least 3 on ebay that have sold for £800 each, some over £900.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331

Of the 5 that show as sold on ebay, they range from just under £700 to just over £900 and average £800. Of course though the subset that want 3 is small and of those I can't imagine many would pay top price for them as it doesn't leave much room for future profit. Is it just me or does the number of 1 and 7 feedback bidders seem odd?

There are 2 bidders with feedbacks of just 1 and high bidder with just 8.

You know what's even better than rear? Super rear!!!!

Got a ridiculous auction here. $451 for $350 Lego minifigures.

^ Look at the 2nd image. That lot is totally worth it. It has the rare Vacation Suit Batman! :)

Why is it ridiculous? There are some nice minifigs in there. They have obviously sorted out the noticable superheroes and SW ones to make the photo clearer. And there is obviously some mismatches, but it doesn't seem that unreasonable for a job lot.

Yeah but the top's missing from his parasol and his beach towel also looks to have been lost. They're going to cost a bomb as a BL after buy to complete him.

  • chuckpchuckp Member Posts: 684
^ Yes, it's the sky high cost of obtaining a complete Vacation Suit Batman that makes him such a rare and highly sought-after collectable.
  • bobabricksbobabricks Member Posts: 1,842
That beach towel :/ it's to bad, if it wasn't made out of real cashmere it probably wouldn't be worth more than light bluish grey boat rigging ;P

Just as well. It was a set of blatantly fake TLM minifigures.
  • bobabricksbobabricks Member Posts: 1,842
^There not fake, there not yet released figs from the sequel :P

Can anyone possibly explain this rather ambiguous listing - and why on earth they want so much money for this?

    Place markers could be.

Since he hasn't used a picture of the item he's probably just waiting for the item to arrive or until he can be bothered to take a pic.

    Reply from the seller
Hi, It's just a place holder until my new camera arrives :) I had some free ebay listings to use so I went ahead and made some listings. I'll edit the listings with more details and a proper price when I can take photos!
Sorry if I wasted your time

Wow.. Did you know old blue Classic space guys are worth 75 dollars (at least someone is hoping for a sucker to think that)?

I don't get why all of these people are paying fortunes for the blue space guy, once TLM gets old and it will these blue space guys are not going to be worth as much.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
Some joker has the Classic Spaceman set, available free with a £25 purchase, up for £55 including postage...

He's also taking pre-orders for the new Mini Cooper, quite the bargain @£124.98
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
He is clearly a business seller. If you are taking pre-orders for items that are not yet released it is clear you are buying to sell, but then claiming not to be a business or allow buyers their DSR rights. eBay really needs cleaning up.

    @tom4086... c'mon, I know your online. Explain.
  • tom4086tom4086 Member Posts: 689
Someone call? Yeah they're my auctions, I did wonder why they were getting so many views...

Not sure what I need to explain. It's a free market, I can list what I like at whatever price I like. If you don't like it, don't buy it!

This joker clearly is a business seller, clearly doing tonnes of business...

I shan't be commenting on this again.

Seriously, taxman will catch up in the end, whether you've resold 1 item or tonnes, it needs to be via a ebay business account and declared.

You've posted on this thread in the past about others people's eBay 'bargains', so you can't complain that your auction is posted here when you put a freebie with a £25 purchase up for sale for £50, especially while the promo is current.

Not that im sticking up for him or promoting it but how would the taxman find out Roxio?. Before i registered has a business seller on ebay i'd brought and sold over 2000 "personal" items during my video game collecting years. I heard nothing from the taxman.
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,384
^ Of course taxman may never find out. But there are several ways. Ebay themselves report it. A seller has a bad experience and reports it, e.g. he is not accepting returns, most people know you can return goods but when they realise you can't to a ebay private seller selling personal items they will kick up a fuss.
Said personal items are a currently unreleased set being resold at nearly 50% mark-up so Lego might take an interest as well.
Certainly it has been documented in the US that they have linked S@H accounts to ebay accounts and banned people from buying direct from S@H.
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
I do agree with you, the best thing to do is go the sole trader/business account route especially with what he's doing with the minis. I was just more interested in the ways the taxman could catch up with you when your just down has a private seller.

If ebay themselves do report private sellers like you said then 100% be worried. theres a good chance you will be audited and nobody wants that.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
It also doesn't matter what eBay refund policy you have in the listing if a buyer demonstrates to eBay that it was bought for resale you'll be refunding whether you like it or not, it's not even up to eBay and as they themselves are very clear about it they won't be sticking up for the seller at all.

Sadly I expect @tom4086 would just return any returns to S@H, a risk free business model awesome. Let lego pick up the pieces, crap on everybody, it's cool so long as I can make a quick buck.

Officially you are actually breaking the law with your refund terms.

It is documented...somewhere. EBay does and can report your business activities to the government. In the USA, new guidelines state that people/business that accept credit card payments or payments via PayPal will receive a 1099k and income from those transactions will be reported to the IRS. This is for people with at least $20,000 in receipts and 200 transactions. Although, they can still send your info to the government.

With SDCC in full swing there will probably be loads of ridiculous auctions, but this one made me laugh:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-SDCC-2014-Batman-Robin-TV-Classic-1960s-Minifigs-Minifigures-No-Batmobile-/281394065670

$75 for the 2 figs from #10672, what a deal! "No really, they're from the SDCC Batmobile, I swear."
  • RennyRenny Member Posts: 1,145
I'd love to get the Hobbit Bard figure but these prices are already out of my price range. Hoping he is released in a future set like Azog was.
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,548
^ @Renny I'm half expecting you to post in the 'how you chose your username' thread: Hi, I'm Benny, but the thin bit of the B snapped and fell off.

Well they've sold! So whether they were or not, the seller made some money from it.
