We were going by the chest print, & everyone I talked to- from the seller to my son to my Lego cohort just now- agreed that it looks like a gorilla chest.

I've almost finished sorting & identifying ~2800 pieces but don't know which minifig head this is. It has a blocked, open stud. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had a hunch it was CM, but had put "smile" as my search term. This seems to be the only piece of the fig that remains. I can finally put this batch to rest, thank you!

Alright...here’s a long shot. I was a part of one of the 2018 LEGO Inside Tours. I snapped a photo of the Galidor section....because, why not?  A silver plastic box has caught my attention. I don’t think it’s Galidor, likely from another theme in 2001-2002 that was placed at the top. Maybe even a Creator bucket. Does anyone recognize the box to identify the set?

Seems familiar... Racers, I think, or something like that? I'm at a hobby store right now (looking for LEGO) but when I get home I'll poke around and see if I can figure it out.

Racers would make sense. There are Racers sets near this section of the vault. I checked around on BrickLink and Brickset and couldn’t find a package that looked like that. Just a fun bit of trivia for the day!

Well, I'm home now, need a shower after mowing lawns in 90°F/32°C heat. Then I'm gonna sit in my air conditioning and peruse Brickset and Bricklink.

I’m having a hard time- something interesting that looks like a possibility is this custom case...

I can’t find it on Bricklink or eBay past listings- not sure if this guy did some freelance design work for LEGO?  If you turn this case on it’s side it sort of looks like it may match the photo above...

Wow- well done!  I’d ask the 2020 LEGO Inside Tour thread to take a look when they go this year, but I’m sure the tour has long been canceled. I’d hate rub salt in the wound.

I am going to imagine that that’s what it is. Can’t believe you found that!

I was supposed to be there with my son for the June tour... hopefully next year will be virus free!

So sorry to hear that!  If it’s any consolation, the wait will be well worth it!  It’s truly an amazing experience. I hope they grandfathered you into next year.

About 14-ish years ago, I bought a Duplo jet for my niece. As I recall (it's been a while), it came in a clear plastic bag from the Lego store itself. Now, I've got a 2 year old son and he has inherited the jet. I was trying to add it to our (formerly my) inventory, but cannot identify any set number that this is from.  Notably, this jet has NO printing on the fuselage or on the tail. Never did. Came with a pilot figure and piece of blue luggage, but no wheels.

I know Duplo isn't as popular as ACTUAL Lego here, but help would be appreciated.

That plane fuselage part came in 3 sets, but only 2 in white... #7843 and #7840 ... neither had printing, only sticker sheets.

Either your plane was from one of those and just had the stickers left off, or was sold separately - perhaps from a returned set or as a promotional item?  It’s also possible that it was bought on eBay as-is — some sellers will break up sets and sell off only the airplane (hence the wheels and engines left off).  Is the tail fin dark blue on your airplane?  If not that would deepen the mystery...

Interesting, I never knew Duplo had stickers. Thought it was all 100% printed

The hair of those figures can be a bit grim after 15 years. Maybe they didn't sleep well.

One would think searching “Duplo wing” on BL as I tried would turn this up. But no. You have to search “Duplo wings” 🙄

  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
This is a problem when searching on BL. Often it is better to search for name* to pick up both item with name and names in their entries. After a while you get used to doing it. For example, ...

a search for plaid button* within the decorated torso assemblies section would pick up both of these:

Torso Plaid Button Shirt Pattern / Dark Blue Arms / Yellow Hands

Torso Plaid Shirt with Buttons, Pockets and 'Kel' Pattern / Red Arms with Plaid Shirt Pattern / Yellow Hands

If you use button then you miss the second and if you use buttons then you miss the first. As many people contribute and approve titles for entries over long timescales, there is very little consistency.

Yes, the tail fin is dark blue like the rear wings. This definitely wasn't something from eBay because it was purchased directly from the Lego Store at a Massachusetts mall.  (Don't remember which one. Probably Burlington.)  It also wasn't the only one they had in stock when I got it.

My best guess is that Lego had excess inventory and didn't bother printing on the parts and released the plane in some stores with minimal pieces.  (It didn't include any engines or landing gear.)  I wonder if there's some set number they assigned internally to this.

Hi guys, I have a lot of mini-figures that have been disassembled. Any suggestions on how to look up which part belongs to each other?
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,566
Pick anything unique like a hat or a torso print and find it on BL. Then it should show you which parts complete the figure. I’d expect this to work better with CMFs than with figures from sets.

    1. Have a go matching up prints.
(leave armour off to prints are visible).
    2. Stick a picture on here of your'complete' figs and people can help identify parts

2- Chuck Stonebreaker from Galaxy Squad
    https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=gs009

    3 is Crominus from Chima
    https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=loc023#T=S&O={"iconly":0}

These were fairly easy— just type in “red cap headphones” and 1 minifig comes up...

Number 1 could be any of the following https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=14045&in=M

Number 4 is any of these https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=973pb1010c01&in=M

My suggestion was to just have a go at matching complete figs based on their printing. Post a bunch of the 'complete' figs and number them like you have.

    I can see you have at least one sith trooper https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=sw0436#T=S&O={"iconly":0}

A couple of world racers https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=Racers#T=M&P=1

A bunch of Chima, ninjago, a kingdoms Dragon Knight, Aldrich Killian (Marvel), parts of a Batman and a power miner and a couple of Dino torsos https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catString=617

Thank you guys for your help. I’m curious how number 3 & 4 was figured out. What key words can I use for the search?
  • KungFuKennyKungFuKenny Member Posts: 2,368
For 3 I typed in “claws bones olive green” I believe (although I knew it was a Croc faction member from Chima by just looking)

A lot of it is just being familiar with figs or the type of fig, eg recognising what's likely to be a star wars torso rather than a Ninjago one. For number 4 I recognised it as a city type torso but searched 'carabiner' (the clip on the front). Sometimes it's just trial and error trying to guess how bricklink has categorised something, but you eventually get an idea of the sort of things that are important.

It looks like key words on what’s actually on the torso like red harness carabiner helps in the search.

    1. Clone Trooper Episode III Dark Red Markings torso from #7250
    2. Clone Trooper Sergeant torso from #75000
    3. Jek-14 with Stormtrooper Helmet torso with legs and missing arm from #75051
    4. TIE Pilot torso with legs - could be from a number of pre-2012 TIE sets but #4479 and #7146 are good examples
    5. Light up lightsaber Darth Vader from #7263
