Thank you guys. I thought it may be a big mix.

Will wait for it to arrive to see how they can best be utilized - most likely in some future MOCs.

I'm a new AFOL, have built a bunch of sets with my nephew over the years, but only recently started buying my own sets.  It's a rabbit hole!

    (Ps. He is a she ;-) )

The white tile with the red cross, broken red chasis, white headlights and white car doors likely came from #6629

^ But the link you did has yellow frames and red doors, his are the opposite. The yellow doors came in these sets. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4131&in=S  It's really hard to tell what he has.
I completely agree and it was the point I was trying to make, though it might not have been well stated.

When I first came to these boards and was trying to figure out what sets I had from childhood (I had my sister's, my brother's, and my sets), it took me a while to find them all but I did it on my own because I thought it was fun. But the Basic sets were the hardest because the specialized parts are usually what helps narrow things down and they don't really have any. I linked the set that I inevitably found to be the one that my brother had as a kid, but it was easier to determine because I had the bucket and memories of other parts that might not have made it through, as well as knowledge of the approximate year when it was purchased.

Still, the reveal that @Snipsa also has set 6629 likely narrows down the cannidate Basic sets. 1981 has a goodly amount of Basic sets:

    http://brickset.com/sets/theme-Basic/year-1981

and they have the parts shown. They do have the Red Frames and Yellow Doors/Shutters. None have a bucket and most only come with two puppets (one of each) but perhaps what you have is two of those sets.

Thank you @The_Mad_Vulcan I'm relatively certain it is a mix of a few basic sets. As soon as I have the blocks in hand I'll attempt to sort the parts to get a better idea :-)

Finally got the bricks today, and with some quick googling was able to figure out three of the sets. One of which was indeed #6629 - thanks @jason1976 The other two was #6365 - Summer cottage and #6611 Fire ranger. They were 95-99% complete.

Looking at the remaining bricks there were definitely two of each of these sets, but a lot of the bricks for the second sets are missing - would say I'm at 70% for each - thus not worth the hassle of searching for/buying the missing ones. Would rather keep the extras for MOC's.

I am certain there is at least one more (different) set lurking between the remaining bricks, but haven't yet figured them out.

I am also certain there is at least one Basic Set also in there.

Thanks again for all the help.

    The remaining lot:

The three I've figured out thus far:

So I just bought another lot of bricks, also most likely from the 80's (though a bit later 80's than the previous lot).

It's definitely some shell sets as well as at least parts of one castle set. Anybody want to render any guesses as to the exact sets? - Also obviously some road base plates.

Once more I don't yet have the sets in hand, will get them hopefully early next week.  And can then post pics of any individual pieces I find interesting.

Ps. figured out the rest of the previous lot I posted, were 2 incomplete lots of the basic brick set, so no other sets I could figure out in there...

    @Snipsa

Based on the 4444p03 Panel 2 x 5 x 6 Wall with Black Stripes Pattern and the 2345pb05 Panel 3 x 3 x 6 Corner Wall with Scattered Stones Dark Gray Pattern, it looks like there should be at least part of a #6074 Black Falcon's Fortress.

In the photo of the baseplates, I see the instructions for #6061 Siege Tower, plus there are the two black 4444 Panel 2 x 5 x6 Walls and one 4444p02 Panel 2 x 5 x 6 Wall with Scattered Stones Dark Gray Pattern (plus one extra 4444p02) that should go with that set.

Also, in the photos of windows/doors/minifigs, there appears to be a blue 4033 Window 1 x 4 x 3 Train with All Studs Hollow, with a trans-yellow 3855a Glass for Window 1 x 4 x 3 - old style with circle. The trans-yellow glass only appeared in two sets, #6970 and #6927, and only one of those, #6927, used the train window frames.

And, the 4229 light gray engine strakes only appeared in a handful of sets.

But, unless there are more parts not pictured, some of these sets look very incomplete.

Once again, I come to ask for help. 4 pictures, and some unknown parts I have never encountered before. First up, blue car: is this part of a Harry Potter set? Or something else?

    (2) Cyborg Tecnic man: I love Tecnics, and I wish they would bring back the Tecnic “minifigure”. But this fellow has a gray leg and a robot arm. What set does he belong to?

    (3) Giant wing: (I include the Tecnic Cyborg for Scale.) This is now (outside of plates) the largest single Lego “piece” I own. What sort of aircraft is it? What set?

    (4) Pink heads, the owl, and the beaver hat: The owl came from a different search then the car, but is it Harry Potter again? I have found “Toy Story”, and “Legend of Chema” set figures with variation on the classic yellow, but are these heads Lego mini figure heads? Also, is the billed beaver hat from Lego, and what set?

The owl is from a few Harry Potter sets: http://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-4596754
The Technic figure is from the "competition" range in 98/99: http://brickset.com/sets/containing-minifig-tech001
Looking at the stickers on the wings, it seems to be from the 2010 Airport set 3182 http://brickset.com/sets/3182-1/Airport

With the car parts, it looks like the owl might be from 4841 Hogwarts Express.
The beaver hat is from the CMF Series 5 lumberjack.

Im slightly confused by the 'are these lego minifigure heads' comment - they do a massive range of fleshie minifigures - how can you not have noticed?

The photo is poor, but the top head is batman and the third down is Anakin.  Not sure on the other two.

It's hard to see in the photo but as you said you'd found Toy Story figures the bottom head might be the "driver" from #7789 Lotso's Dump Truck
  • SprinkleOtterSprinkleOtter Member Posts: 2,779
I think the top three heads, down, are Batman, Count Dooku, and Clone Wars Anakin.

SprinkleOtter  Yes, thank you, it is from a batman set, featuring "Two face" still working on the rebuild. I would have never guessed it from the white headband.

scrumper  yep, I have some of  the Toy story parts. But it’s in such a mess, I might not be able to rebuild. I might just have to put the whole thing up for trade. Many Thanks.

vizzitor Confirmed, yes I believe you are right on the Harry potter car, and owl. I have fragments of the Hogwarts Express. Many thanks for that and the ID on Tecknic mini figure. On the airplane wing: Yes it’s in set http://brickset.com/sets/3182-1/Airport

My rebuild seems to lien that way. But I also have parts from. http://brickset.com/sets/60022-1/Cargo-Terminal including. 4539385 and the conveyer belt http://brickset.com/parts/4597139 but none of the tail section for ether one. However, I do thank you for your help.

Thanks to one and all for your help.

It is not a saddle, it is horse barding (I never knew the term either).  Came in 3 sets #6097 Night Lord's Castle #6047 Traitor Transport or #6099 Traitor Transport (with cave)

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I'm guessing it's some kind of catapult that's missing an elastic band, but have no idea if any other parts are missing. That grey bit on the end is especially intriguing for me.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated, or even set numbers/names that may have included this piece.

    Thanks in advance fellow Bricksetters!

O.k. i'm still working on my lot to try to solve as many mysteries as possible before the wife and kid come home and i have to have all in boxes to get the house as clean as can be for the time being (Read before i pull it all up again. I came to find and recognise 110 sets from my lot, but this part is an absolute mystery to me, i don't see a number and can't find it on google.

    Top:

    Bottom:

The parts are screwed together and the yellow 2x2 seems to be a steady part of the set also, on the bottom i can insert a + stick to make it rotate, the effect of the upper site is (if any) not yet fully clear to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In my lot i now have identified and sorted sets from 23 diff series from 1991 up to 2012. So can't really put people into the proper direction.

Yes, the first parts are the old mast parts possibly from #6274 and the grey rails are indeed old train trails the curves look to be 2 of each the inner and outer curves. while it seems you only have one half of 3 straight segments.

I acquired this baseplate several years ago on its own, but I've never been able to figure out what set it comes from. Brickset, BrickLink, Rebrickable, none of those sites have the model 6098 16x16 baseplate in this colour. At the moment I'm not certain whether it's Brick Yellow or Light Yellow, but either way, they're not documented. I'm concerned that it may be a fake since it's of indeterminate origin.

Hello everyone! I recently acquired a lot of sealed LEGO bags, and one of them was this:

It looks like they would link up together to form some sort of chain-like structure. Could someone help me identify them? Thanks!
  • davetheoxygenmandavetheoxygenman Member Posts: 214
@buildalot - this should be the part.  As you stated they do connect to make a chain.

Brickset says the torso's(upper part 3489) from Brick Bank but even the minifigs pictured doesn't have the same print. What set is it really from?
  • GallardoLUGallardoLU Member Posts: 644
brickset pulls their data straight from the Lego website so it's likely the correct part. that said checking brick link leads to http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=973pb0322c01&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 (which is in 26 sets, a very common piece)

    Brick Bank.

It's a brand new replacement for 4275491 (without pockets) which is in quite a few sets. However the old part is in some copies of Brick Bank - perhaps even all of them so far - even though the newer one is listed.

If there's a new production run of Palace Cinema, which seems unlikely, it could also end up in that.

According to BrickLink it's this torso, which appears as an alternate in the Brick Bank and Palace Cinema. It may be intended to replace the older torso which appears in the Brick Bank official photos. According to BrickLink, the only figure to use the new suit & tie pattern by default (albeit with Light Nougat hands instead of Bright Yellow) is Alfred from #76052.

EDIT: whoops, missed the last page of results and didn't see that TigerMoth had already answered this.

I doubt that it's an alternate actually in Palace Cinema - the part number's too high and I don't suppose they've produced any that recently. However, if you asked for a replacement part for that set, it might be what you'd get - only "might" because it seems the old one is quite plentiful!

Well, the Palace Cinema box did get redesigned with the new "Creator Expert" logo at some point last year. Does BrickLink normally list "alternates" if they haven't been seen in actual boxes? I know Brickset/LEGO Customer Service inventories sometimes include "updates" of old parts even if they don't get packed in boxes, but I had thought BrickLink inventories were compiled by fans based on the sets' actual contents. And in this case, the Brickset inventory for Palace Cinema (from LEGO Customer Service) does not include the new torso, but the BrickLink inventory does.

NOT from LEGO CS! Yet. Brickset appears to have been tardy (sorry @Huw)!  It IS on the replacement parts site, just not on Brickset. That might explain why it's on BrickLink.

They can come from anywhere. You see inventories that have come from instruction manuals, presumably the online versions. Sometimes, someone will misjudge a colour completely - for the whole set of pieces in that colour. Prints, particular for minifigs can be pure guesswork - I imagine from the unclear renderings on the replacement parts site. Eventually, things usually get fixed.

Don't count on it! If it is a replacement, then if you request one you might be sent the other. If you really want the newer one, waiting might help. If you really want the older one, then cross your fingers.
