[Elsewhere] Jabba's Palace €99 Skiff €22 Malevolence €133

Well I bit the bullet and bought the first two (JP & S) as I collect minifigs. I think the price is OK, but if not will sell here in Finland. This price goes up I think after the 30th. I bought 1 extra of each to sell to pay for some of the purchase as the JP is expensive. Most I have paid for a Lego EVER :(
Birthday excuse if my wife asks :) Shame I can't use that all year long !
Bought on amazon.es and it added €9 postage which is OK if they come in one piece. I live in Finland so no conversion but maybe a good deal if buying from the UK :D

thats Jabbas Palace for £79. I am sorely tempted to pre-order myself. Whats the rrp, must be around £120ish?
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
Just ordered palace and skiff - could be considerably cheaper again if Greece falls out of Eurozone before it is despatched! Anyone know the release date for Spain to have an idea when it will despatch?
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
^ that sir is an excellent point. Euro is heading south, this could turn out to be an excellent deal.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
1.25 euros to the pound right now (bank rate, not tourist rate), excluding any bank charges for foreign transactions (generally 2.5%).
  • alijoezacalijoezac Member Posts: 554
Also ordered the Gungan Sub and Striker Class Starfighter too. These seem keen prices - and if there is a better offer elsewhere you can cancel before they've fulfilled.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
^ Malevolence is actually 89 euros or circa £71. What a great deal. hmm
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
and Gungan Sub 51 euro, or £40. All the prices appear to be short term discounts.

... argh just thought - has anyone bought from Spain before - are instructions in Spanish?

Was looking again and the Landspeeder says this [versión en inglés] (English version) .. so does that mean that ones NOT marked with this will be in Spanish ?
  • JohnnyfinlandiaJohnnyfinlandia Member Posts: 358
p.s. the Gungan Sub is cheapsish but has some good figs including the Queen .. should I go for that .. also the Malevolence has General grevous which I haven't got :(

I'm only seeing (inflated) third-party prices on amazon.es for the Summer Star Wars sets right now - can someone please provide an example link ?

@Johnnyfinlandia - there's very little text in LEGO building instructions, just pictures, so you don't have to worry ! I've bought from amazon.es previously without problems.

^ Thanks. Interesting that the page is showing as €149-odd, but when I put it in my basket it shows as €99....

Showing as around €108 to the UK including delivery = £86.

^ its not linking to the cheaper host amazon price, its bizarelly defaulting to a third party seller called mexpo bricksworld. I suspect this is because, when translating what that seller is saying, they seem to be offering dispatch from 30th May, which I guess is much sooner than amazon.es.

Johnnyfinlandia: Building instructions are diagrams only. If this was a Spanish language set, only the box and the promotional info at the back of the instruction booklet would be affected.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
Still no-one in the know for the official Spanish release date? It's not listed at all on Lego's own shopping website for Spain, either as available now or coming soon.

    Great :)

Richio: I would guess at a £120 pricepoint for JP in the UK (maybe £99.99 if we're lucky), based purely on 150 euro price tag in Germany (i'm assuming that'll be a common eurozone RRP). Piece count indications are out of the window on this set as there are a few disproportionately large components (Jabba himself being one of them).
  • mkolandianmkolandian Member Posts: 25
Greece will exit from the euro almost surely, but I doubt before the end of this year.
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
The Palace will be £120 RRP in the UK (I think this was mentioned on the site somewhere else) Forbiddenplanet.com has it on pre-order for £129 and they are usually between 5% and 10% over RRP.

so is anyone in the UK thinking about this? I have them in the cart but was wondering about VAT when it hits the UK, although as it is in the europe i think that should be OK?
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
Oh well - pressed the button and see what happens :)

^ You are fine. You have paid VAT in the EU, so you will not be charged again.

e-mail from amazon.es stating delivery of order for these 6-7 June
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
    some really good deals on here. I wish, to help me finally decide what to order I knew the following;
    - UK release (i.e. is it a few months off compared to Spain?)
    - UK rrps (they are not on the site)

    can anybody help?

I think the last few rounds have been like for like prices with USD, so if the JP is $120, then it will be £120 in the UK. That is still a guess, but I am sure that was mentioned somewhere here, I think it was in a thread around Toy Fairs, but not sure. But I think the realistic RRP on the JP and the Skiff together will be around £145 + shipping if you buy online. According to the write up below the release date is August - http://www.fbtb.net/2012/01/24/uk-toy-fair-2012-star-wars-news/

This does make the Spanish deal good.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
ok, gone for a few sets. Hope the boxes are ok, but I do plan to make them, so maybe not a biggie. I left Jabba's Palace and The Skiff as they are showing out of stock at the moment. Some of the others are nice prices and in stock, so lets see if they arrive quickly.
  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
Many of the SW sets struck me as a really good deal, so followed suit. But it will be painful if it takes a while.

I also got a seaside house at €27 which seemed reasonable for the med blue and a seagull (not sure of Uk RRP but expect at least £30-35 given piece count vs other creators)

Postage is a bit of a pain but I'm tempted to add another SW order...

^ got delivery confirmation as 6-7th June. Hope it all goes through!

Mine has delivery 9-11 June as of an email this morning :)
Wish Palpatine's Arrest was on the ES site and this cheap .. might have gone for that too but looks Lego store and TRU special.

Their Hulk Carrier is there but not too cheap compared with the Tesco deal. Will wait until that comes on sale again .. if ever as I missed that one.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
Good stuff! Can't check my yahoomail until I get home from work. Skiff and Palace. The mancave looks more and more like a branch of TRU!
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
No delivery email yet, but even if it is a wait, the price makes it worth while
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
Just got the email 5th - 8th June
  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
I now see mine says 4-6 June. Interesting that we all have different dates, but guess that is down to time of order and specific items. The bank holiday must mean it's gonna be the end of that though.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
Haven't heard a thing yet about my palace and skiff.
  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
Yay, I've just had a shipping confirm for my sets excl. Jabba and the skiff. Restated arrival of Weds 6 June.
  • VenunderVenunder Member Posts: 2,655
I have ordered from Amazon.es and they seem to use Citylink courriers. The delivery always seem to arrive a few days before the stated delivery date. :)
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,383
My palace and skiffs now say shipping soon with no date and the items themselves are out of stock. Might have a wait on our hands though the price is worth it.
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,383
Infact google chrome has translated from the top of the order page:
    Envío 1 de 2 - sending February 1st !!!!!!! lol
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
    @roxio,
This is why I ordered items that were only in stock. Mine are now in transit. I ordered (see below); Cost translates with postage at circa £130. No idea if its good as dont really know UK rrps yet?, but feels pretty good for new sets. As an example, there is a rumour that the 9500 set will be £82 in the UK, as oppose to 67 euro/£50 here. Rather steep if true!!!

There are some retailers in Germany selling Jabba's palace now, but on Amazon.de they state the release date is 04 Aug - that's a ling wait if Spain is treated the same way. Still haven't had an email with shipping dates although it appears from the posts of this thread that I was the second person to order.

Amazon.it are saying release date there is sept 1st for Jabba's palace, I think we might be waiting a while for these, can't see why Spain would get this 3 months before Italy.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
^ strange. I nearly bought the Malevolence, I wonder why that would be any different, or indeed if it is. I remember it said available?
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
Just checked, Malevolence out of stock now. Maybe should have orderd that too...

As posted elsewhere by @avacadoturban, summer star wars sets now live on [email protected]
    RRPs:
    Skiff 24.99
    Striker Starfighter 39.99
    Jedi Starfighter 29.99
    Gungan sub 54.99
    Interceptor 79.99
    Malevolence 99.99
    Jabba's palace 119.99
Should help for comparison with prices on Amazon.es
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
Lostintranslation: If they're available now then we shouldn't have long to wait for the Amazon.es stuff to be in stock and posted. They are on [email protected] spanish site also at £145 Euros for the palace and 33 Euros for the skiff.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
Looks like my skiff is shipping 4th june, no word on the palace yet.

I emailed amazon.es customer services asking when items will be shipped, my order is still showing as shipping soon.......

In response to your email, we don't currently have a way of specifying a date or time frame for the delivery of an order. However, when you add items to your Shopping Cart and fill out our order form, you'll see an estimated delivery date next to the shipping options available. That date should help you determine whether your order will arrive in time.

Here's the basic equation we use to determine your delivery date:

(Availability) + (Shipping Time) = Total Delivery Time

So in this case , depends on the availability of the product you are purchasing for you to have an estimated delivery date

    ok, now got UK prices so can compare what I paid (I guess Legoshop is on the high side and Amazon uk are highly likely to discount soon...);

    9500 Sith Fury Interceptor £79.99 v 67 euro £50 paid (37.5% discount)
    9499 Gungan Sub £54.99 v 51 euro £40 paid (27.3% discount)
    9497 Republic Class Striker £39.99 v 37 euro £29 paid (27.5% discount)

Not bad, but probably discounts you can get not too far down the line in the UK. we'll see...

interesting that Malevolence is cheaper than Jabbas Palace despite much higher piece count. Does a couple of new molds mean £20 more?
